Chocolate Rose

Black Tea by Culinary Teas

This house blend is a heavenly blend of our rich Chocolate Tea and our delicate Rose Tea. The combination is truly romantic. Last years blend received rave reviews but this year the blend is even better with the addition of roasted cocoa bean pieces.

This tea is only available for a limited time.

New tea of the day…… (AKA SRP #1 in Sample Reduction Plan 2012)

I got this one in my foodzie box from LiberTEAS. I missed out on this when Culinary Teas had it available for a short time in February. I was so glad that Ann was able to include this one in my box.

I get mostly rose tea with a hint of chocolate. It is really very good. I do think I could do with a bit less rose and a bit more chocolate flavor. It is amazing how much this reminds me of Upton’s Rose Congou but with a slightly bigger hint of chocolate. From the description on Steepster, it is a blend of rose tea and chocolate tea. I have Harney’s Valentine blend which is chocolate tea with a hint of rose. Really, I think I would like something in between the two, but I will happily drink this one until it is gone.

Usual teapot method.

This is VERY tasty! Just the right amount of rose and chocolate with a perfect black tea base for this flavored tea! The chocolate is more of a darker chocolate! I had this twice last week and twice today so far but it’s the first time I have been able to log…sorry about that!

Special thanks to LiberTEAs for this! It’s FAB!

YUM!

What a lovely chocolate and rose flavored tea. No, it isn’t as good as Chocolate Rose Romance, but, then, I do think I’m a little biased there. But it is good. The rose and the chocolate are pretty evenly matched. Both are strong components, but I like that I can still taste black tea there too.

This is very, very good!

What a dreamy romantic tea! This tea has everything that any rose tea should have. The floral scent and flavor notes are well balanced and the chocolate does not drown out the over all flavor of the black tea. A sweet lovely scented and very flavorful black tea blend.

Really nice! I love roses and I love chocolate, so this is a nice combo. The roses taste sweet in this blend. The taste is very floral – I get more rose than chocolate, but the chocolate is there, keeping the rose from tasting of perfume. At 5 minutes the taste is perfect. I am slightly allergic to roses, so I get the sniffles when I drink this, but occasionally it is worth it!

This is the second time I’ve gone “Oh, what the hell” and bought tea for myself for Valentine’s Day, and it seems to work out splendidly every time. That said, I don’t want to imply for a second that this is any degree of subtle. It’s EXTREMELY rose. Like, straight up, if you don’t like rose, you will HATE this, it’s basically just like drinking a bouquet of them.

What makes me like it so much is that the chocolate part actually is subtle, and manages to accomplish “subtle but definitely present” rather than “the description calls it subtle but what that actually means is I can’t flipping taste it at all”. The chocolate comes in right after the rose is done kicking you in the tongue and makes the whole experience a lot better by being muted and sweet and cocoa-y and blending with the rose extremely well.

Really disappointing. I had high hopes for this tea since I love their plain rose tea. I figured chocolate, roses, what’s not to like?

I saw whole rosebuds in the bag, but when I smelled it I only got a muddled scent that wasn’t very rosey at all. I didn’t taste any chocolate, nor roses either. I barely tasted tea it was so weak. When cooled, I get the barest hint of rose, but not much else. To tell the truth, I’m beginning to wonder if I got a leftover bag from last year that had gone stale.

The first cup I steeped for five minutes, and poured it down the drain because it was so bland. The second was drinkable only because I steeped it for two minutes more and threw in some rose tea.

If all their “special” Valentine teas are this lackluster, I think I’ll skip out on them next year.
