Oh no, this one definitely uses the same flavoring that Adagio uses in their rooibos pumpkin tea, and that flavoring 100% does not work for me. It doesn’t taste like pumpkin. It’s just weirdly sweet and fruity. That said, I think this CG blend does a slightly better job than Adagio at this flavor profile. The spices aren’t strong enough to be considered chai. It’s mostly just the weird flavoring and a tiny bit of spice. The little bit of black tea doesn’t make an appearance. Other people seem to like this one, so I may be in the wrong here.

Cuppageek Advent Day 21

Woohoo! Another one I was hoping for! I decided to make myself a latte with this one. The blend in the pouch smelled deliciously sweet. I love that there is no clove in this one because I have had a LOT of clove lately and not all of it has been great. (I’m looking at you, Stash.)

This was sooooo good that I think it is close to the top of the Cuppageek fave chai blends list for me. In fact, tied for first, I would say. I really like honeybush and the spices were just right for me.

I felt guilty for just making one for me and decided to see if I could coax out a second latte for Ashman. I let it steep a really long time. And you know what? I tasted a little of his on a spoon and I think his was even better than mine. It wasn’t weak at all. So, nice long steep in hot 2% milk and topped with real whipped cream and a few sprinkles on top.

I think I need to make myself a latte today!

CuppaGeek Advent Calendar – Day 16

My study-time tea. I am using the Pomodoro technique of studying where its 25 mins on, 5 mins off and then after so many cycles you get a longer break. It helps. Breaks it up so its not unbearable and overwhelming. However, that 5 minutes goes fast! Very fast! Like I am already in my final 1 minute, 30 seconds fast. So quickly, before my time is up…

I love Cuppa Geek’s other Pumpkin Chai tea so I was interested to see how this would compare. I have to say, I definitely prefer the other. This one isn’t bad and definitely have some cardamom lingering on my tongue but overall I like the balance of spice in the other. Also, I think the honeybush adds a sweetness here that I could do without.

I am also using this technique hahs!

Lexie Aleah

I took a Study Skills class last term and my Professor had us create study blocks with a minimum of 2-3 hours before having a lengthy break. It’s interesting to see different techniques.

I guess that could work for me as well, I will try it during preparation for exam on 4th of January.

@Courtney, a friend told me about it and I was skeptical but I feel like it actually helps me focus and get through a lot!

@Lexie Aleah, I feel like I take a while to get into studying normally and then I hyper focus for that long and then have time getting back into it when I break. The Pomodoro method seems more sustainable…I think. But I suppose we are all different.

@Martin Bednar, I hope it helps!!

Advent Day 13

I’m terrible at getting these in on the day. I was looking forward to this one since it was a chai and has cardamom in it but it was kinda bland. I didn’t really get pumpkin out of this one – just “chai” but i enjoyed the cup.

Go with the deadline rule my besties established long ago: two weeks either way still counts. (These days, we’ve been going with six months either way!)

Advent Day 2, From the Depths of the Grab Bag.

Housemate, in the recliner with my old girl on her lap.

“{Dry leaf] smells Christmasy. Maybe, uh, cinnamon, star anise, a little juniper. Kinda like that Celestial tiger blend.

[Hot tea] smells like pie. Tastes kinda like apple spice pie. It doesn’t have deep tannins. It’s more smooth. Maybe it has a little orange in it. That’s about it. It’s good. Would I drink it again? Yeah, I’d drink it again. It’s good, pleasant tea. It quenches your thirst.

So what is it? [me: Sweet Pumpkin Chai] Did I say pie? Well there you have it. So far I flunked this one. I can taste pumpkin now. 7/10."

Cameron B.

Pie is close! Half points! ;)
