This is one of the best EGs I’ve had in a while! It tastes creamy and delicious even though I don’t think it has any cream flavoring. The black tea is smooth and tasty. There’s a hint of lavender. I don’t really notice the bergamot, but that’s okay. In the resteep, I definitely tasted the cream and bergamot. This tea is great!

This is an ancient sample that’s been languishing in my desk drawer for months. I honestly don’t remember at this point which swap/TTB it came from. But I’m thankful to whoever sent it to me, because it’s really yummy! I’m not really getting Earl Grey, but the lavender flavor is strong and pure without any soapiness. The base tea is also nice and smooth; totally drinkable without milk! A pleasant surprise on a dreary afternoon.

Advent Day 21, From the Depths of the Grab Bag. We’re a little behind, plus there’s more than 24 teas in the bag.

sniffs the packet "Oh. Oh boy. "

Would you like something else tonight?

“No, let’s do it.”

I brew it up.

“At least this smells similar to the candle we’re burning. (I think it’s lavender-scented) Maybe a little ginger in there? Smells nice.”

What does it smell like?

“It smells a little floral. Smells floral and a little spicy. And there’s something, um, something like ginger in taste and maybe something like lavender or something. I like it. It’s not too bad. The black tea is not real tannic. I like it. I think it’s pretty good. It smells so nice, like a potpourri. It’s got a little bite. I think it’s not these… picks up the bag of Flamin’ Hot Keto cheetohs she was snacking on I’d say it’s an 8. I could drink it again. What is that stuff the Persian tea has in it? (referring to this: https://steepster.com/teas/alvins-of-san-francisco/36266-persian-choice-royal-earl-grey). I can never remember that name. short pause Bergamot!”

It’s a simple tea. You pretty much nailed it. It’s Lavender Earl Grey.

“Alright!! OK!! Haha-HAHA! I like it, I like it. It’s a solid 8 for sure. Did it have any ginger in there?”

Nope.

“It must’ve been the cheetohs, haha!” burrrrrp

I love me some LEG, but I would never think to pair it with Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.

Another note that made me laugh :)

She’s a strange bird. The flamin’ hot… I guess they’re flamin’ hot keetos? were gross. Dear Glorb.

Cuppageek Advent Day 18

Today I got to have a virtual tea time with a friend! I must admit that I rooted through some scratched off teas in the advent to come up with this one, because I specifically wanted to keep the teas my husband likes for when we are sharing and I would be drinking tea alone.

He doesn’t like floral teas or bergamot so this was a win-win for me because I DO like them. Both!

Again, I steeped three times and combined, putting my teapot on a warmer so we could chat and sip. Paired with three Quality Street chocolates. Ha ha!

Dry leaf – smells delightful and I can not believe there is no cream flavor in this because I really got a London Fog vibe. It reminds me a bit of Parker’s Blend.

Taste – Here is the familiar black tea base we enjoyed in Chocolate Covered Strawberries and Vanilla Black, etc. It is very lightly brisk making it feel like a “grown-up” black tea but not astringent and it doesn’t hurt my tummy like some black teas do. It is a base that drinks well on its own and also pairs well with food because it makes the flavor stand out.

The lavender is light, just the right hint of floral for me. The bergamot is present but doesn’t smash me in the face with a frying pan. I like well-behaved bergamot. This one is ready for an elegant tea party, or an indulgent afternoon of reading.

CuppaGeek Advent Calendar, December 13

Hm, Lavender Earl Grey. I think I had some before, but can’t really recall. Checked my Steepster.txt and yep, it says I had. Twinings Lavender Earl Grey 8 months ago and 2 years ago I had Tazo Earl Grey where I had noticed lavender as well.

How is Nichole’s version?
I have to admit I liked it more than expected. The base black tea with bergamot reminded me a lots of Ahmad Tea Earl Grey, a quite good standard tea bag. The base was nice and then burst of lavender florals, which weren’t overpowering the base though. It was nicely floral. It was bit tingling my tongue.

I would like to try more to rate it properly, but this cup was nice in morning.

I have a Steepster.txt file too! Never lose tasting notes that way since I never type anything “directly into the box” and always have a back-up, and so easy to find teas using Ctrl+F on the file, as well.

Ooooo I hope I have this one!

Day 3 Funny that both VariaTEA and i had this one on day three. I don’t like Blergamot. I don’t like floral teas. Sooooooo this one was not one i was looking forward to having. But i drank it and can say it wasn’t a strong EG and the lavender took a back seat. So i drank it…but yeah. lol

VariaTEA

Yeah, as far as Lavender EGs go, this wasn’t bad. But its still a Lavender EG so it wasn’t good either lol

Sil

CuppaGeek Advent Calendar – Day 3

I was very much not excited to see this as today’s Cuppa Geek blend. It’s not flavours I enjoy on their own so combined just didn’t appeal to me at all. Interestingly enough, I drank it while FaceTiming with a friend and learned that Lavender Earl Grey is actually her favorite so that was a fun discovery. Plus, now I know where to send all my Lavender Earl Grey twas I come across. As for the tea, I didn’t really like it as expected and don’t recall much beyond that.
