Black Tea by Custom-Adagio Teas

one sweet cup
created by: Kristina Desmond

A blend of hazelnut and caramel black tea with a touch of cream and chocolate chips. A delicious dessert tea, or for any time of day.

Inspired by the recent death of my favourite kitty, Gizmo, on July 31st 2012, I’ve been drinking nothing but sweet teas and making this blend manually from my separate packages.

ingredients:
hazelnut, caramel, cream

accent:
chocolate chips

This one was sent straight from the creator, Starfevre! thanks so much This is the third Adagio tea I have now with hazelnut, but that seems to be the favorite flavor of Adagio teas that I’ve tried, so it’s nice to have a few Adagio hazelnut options. That seems like it would sound excessive to a non-tea drinker though! With this one, it seems the hazelnut is still at the forefront. I really don’t get any of the caramel or cream flavor, sadly. I think the hazelnut in the blend might just be overpowering the other two, but of course, I don’t mind the hazelnut! It does seem like a really great combination for a blend though. I could also taste the bittersweet flavor of the chocolate chips. There were a few in the infuser!

This is a tea that I made so I won’t be rating it.

Because this was created as a dessert tea, and I love my dessert teas to be a bit smoother and creamier than normal, I always put milk and sugar in them, though not large quantities of either.

The tea is currently cooling down enough for me to drink it. The smell is strongly of hazelnut with a background of caramel. Usually when I drink this, I can’t taste the cream or the chocolate chips much at all, but the combination of hazelnut and caramel black teas are very nice still.

There is a bit of bitterness in the first hot sips, but that decreases for me as the tea cools. The hazelnut and caramel flavours blend beautifully and the creaminess of the cream black tea and the milk I added lend a wonderful smoothness. This is a fantastic dessert tea. Although there are chocolate chips in as an ‘accent’, I can’t taste them at all.

Today I am drinking this again and I am picking up a hint of woodsiness along with the caramel and hazelnut blended flavours. I still like this, though I’ll probably be looking to give some of this away because I have like 5 ounces of it and I will never drink this fast enough before it starts going stale.
