I have so many little bits and bobs of tea…..and I like to drink it by the pot. You could call it a sample graveyard of sorts. Rather than fill up our database with tons of blends, I decided to create this as a way to track combinations that I like, as well as ones that I don’t.

Feel free to use this ‘tea’ to log your experiments good and bad. This will make some interesting reading for teablenders!

Now that I have a proper freezer that I can actually use for making ice, I am sure more herbal tisane experiments are coming!

This ended up being delicious: mix equal parts plain organic tulsi, spearmint and lemon verbena. Brew hot and pour over ice or refrigerate. It’s delicious… :)

Amy, do you think you’ make actual iced tea or stick to cold brew. It’s interesting how I used to ice hot tea, but since I’ve been cold brewing lately, I like it better. I prefer cold brewing in the fridge, because it just tastes better to me-not watered down like iced tea can sometimes be. It just takes sssoooo long and I can be impatient at times! ;-))

I’ve been down with a cold for most of a week now, on the upswing (I think), so tonight we’re going from tea to hot toddies. This one started with a cup of Harney’s Decaf Hot Cinnamon Spice, then got a spoonful of honey, a dash of Apple Pie liqueur, and a large splash of apple cider. Good for soothing the throat and clearing the sinuses!

Backlog from Thursday. So I went to make a thermos-ful of Grandma’s Pumpkin Pie from Della Terra, but discovered that I only had enough tea left for a regular cup, not a thermos! At which point creativity (not really) struck, and I dug through my billions of boxes of tea and found my sample of Creamy Pumpkin Spice from iHeartTeas, and threw in about a teaspoon’s worth of it as well, since I seemed to recall liking the black base of it, but preferring the spicing of DavidsTea/Della Terra’s pumpkin teas. I must say, it tasted pretty darn good! Left me craving more pumpkin tea, that’s for sure (and I just discovered tonight that I only have a single cup of Pumpkin Chai from DavidsTea left! Oh noes!)

I think this one also survived a second infusion before I had to throw it out, so I was quite pleased :D Would probably rate this a touch higher than Grandma’s Pumpkin Pie, so close to 90??

3 of the 4 are herbal and 3 of the 4 are della terra teas.
i was organizing my tea because my tea tins arrived!

I love how organized it all is! I like the idea of color coding my tins. Someday I’ll get there, but right now I just keep all my blacks, greens and herbal/decaf teas in giant separate tins.

important side note: i watched the first part of the hobbit as i organized. from the beginning up to the sad dwarf song by the fire. i could listen to that song all day.
on this rainy day i can’t wait to get home and put the final labels on their tins and then brew a rewarding cup of tea.

I am a worry wart… to the extreme… And I hate it.

I’m working at a temp place right now and the location they have me is at a place that does metal testing. They work with chemicals and all sorts of stuff… Yesterday I was asked to laminate something and I woke myself up at 1:30 AM worried that I forgot to turn the laminator off. I was up for like 30mins worrying that it was going to cause a chain reaction that would set the storage closet on fire, thus causing it to spread through the whole building and explosions would be going off all night as the chemicals combust and explode everywhere. The fire department would be called and they would trace it all back to the simple and lowly laminator that would be all charged and melted. And they would know it was me as I was the one who last used the laminator.

Being an imaginative person is great. But it can also cause some really messed up ideas that cause a person to worry!! Now I feel like a moron for worrying about it. And for making up such a ridiculous story in my head. lol And the worst part? I was positive I remember turning it off.

ANYWAY: Onto the combination. I used Saigon Chai by Davidstea and their cinnamon honey sticks. I used the whole stick. Shouldn’t have done that. It made it a lot sweeter than I would normally make my teas. I didn’t make the tea nearly strong enough, but the honey stick did make up for it a bit. I’m glad to have gotten them to try. I have found that if the honey is flavoured I don’t hate it in my teas ‘cause the flavouring masks the normal taste of the honey, which is something I don’t care for.

Long story short. Life is too short to worry. But if you can’t stop yourself from doing so, than at least treat yourself to special teas the next morning so you feel better. Saigon is a favourite. Now I’m already onto my second cup of tea.. I think today will be a HUGE tea day.

I know exactly how you feel. I do the same thing to myself…I stress about stupidity, causing severe stomach pains only to discover that nothing went wrong after all. It’s awful, and I don’t know how to stop it.

I’m really glad to know I’m not the only one! I feel insane when I do this… but same as you, I don’t know how to stop it. I try to rationalize with myself that I did in fact do whatever (in this case I did turn off the laminator ‘cause I’m pretty sure I actually remember doing it) but there are moments when I just can’t seem to get my brain to listen…

But I am applying methods to change that about myself every day…what you said in the end is my motto: Life is too short!

I’ve had the same sleepless nights over “Did I lock the door?” and “Is that space heater off?” It’s a little bit like (pardon the antique analogy) a skip in an LP—once you’re stuck on it, you can’t unstick.

I’m so relieved to know there are more people that do this. I’m not alone! I’m really trying to break this in me, but it’s tough.

Well, I’s a personal approach really, but I try to meditate at least 10 min. a day, doesn’t have to take long. I also start each day by being grateful for something in my life, the laws of attraction, the more grateful you are, the more great things you attract…When I start worrying, I ask myself if I can do something about it NOW. If the answer is no, I try to put it to rest. What will it change if I make myself sick over it?

I know these methods may sound simple but it’s a work in progress…I still suffer from anxiety, but sometimes it just works!

Hope you find your own way to deal with those issues, it’s not fun to worry all the time…

In my case, having a constructive “default” thought to concentrate on is helpful—all those Bible verses I’ve been teaching fifth graders for years come in handy! You may not be familiar with this, but it’s a lovely thought: _ Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. (Philippians 4:8)_

(And sometimes I have to say it with my teeth gritted several times to get the skippy record unstuck!)

Trying to turn my mood around. Added some honey but it still feels medicinal. Christmas cookies helped it go down. Not sure it’s changing my outlook overall though…

Experiment Number 31: Berry Blue Jello Popsicles made with super-concentrated (3 tsps per cup) Tardis Blend Tea instead of water.

Initially all seems to be going well. I figured that the sugar in the jello would sweeten out the tea enough.(Note, this proved to be incorrect. Adding some stevia or so to the blend before chilling will probably take care of that.) The Tardis blend balances nicely with the berry blue, which was encouraging, even if it made a weird green color. In the future I will probably use a cheap bagged earl grey instead, as the berry blue over powers most of the berry from the Tardis blend, maybe even add a touch or two of vanilla extract. The earl grey however, is very much there. I believe I made the tea a bit too strong, as there’s a sort of lingering bitterness to the popsicles that probably makes it unsuitable for friend sharing. I’m not sure how long these will last in the freezer, but they seem tasty enough for a first experiment.

50% Ureshino Tama Ryokucha – 50% Uji Kabuse cold steeped for nine hours.

Drinking this iced and it’s incredibly refreshing. This method of brewing produced significantly more sweetness than the traditional brewing method. Through the cold brewing method, the liquid takes on a cloudy green color like that of matcha ice cream and the tea actually has some similarities to that taste wise as well. This stuff is lightly vegetal with little hints of cream, sweetness, and citrus. Great combination for iced tea.

After my morning cup of Earl Grey Creme Vanilla (Upton), I found myself really craving Rosy Earl Grey – that I haven’t had in my cupboard in many months. So I improvised. To my infuser basket with the used Earl Grey Creme Vanilla leaves I added 5 Rishi Jasmine Pearls and a small pinch of Upton’s Rose Congou. Yay! Vanilla Rosy Earl! This is definitely satisfying my very specific craving.

Della Terra Dubbele Chocolade + Caramel Creme

Sipdown on the Dubbele Chocolade! And not quite enough left for a mug. So I tossed in some Caramel Creme and was blown away by the deliciousness. These two seem meant for eachother, soo much more tasty when paired (which is saying something, cause I loved them both individually). The result is sweet-but-not-too-sweet dark chocolate and burnt sugar with an ever so slightly creamy quality that rounds it out keeps the darker flavours from being too much.

Second tea of this lazy morning for me. Enjoying being curled up on the couch by the window with hot tea and a hefty book & happy to have some quiet time all to myself while my love sleeps in.
