There are still quite a few teas from the awesome DF group order that I have not yet written tasting notes for. The keemun base is perfect here, perfect with these flavors: chocolate! almond! The chocolate flavor blends seamlessly with the chocolate notes of the base tea and I can’t tell where each begins or ends. It’s a lovely cocoa, dark chocolate flavor. The toasty almond flavor makes it even more delicious. Definitely a winner from DF and a tea I’d definitely order again. I’d love to try more chocolate flavored Keemun and I’m surprised I don’t find more of them out there in the tea world.
Steep #1 // 1 heaping teaspoon for a full mug// 10 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 4 minute steep

Flavors: Almond, Chocolate, Cocoa, Dark Chocolate

This and Marie Belle Dark Obsession Chocolate Rose are probably my two favorite chocolate flavored teas.

Mmm, that one sounds delicious too.

OH I’m confused. If I had tried this a week ago I would be swooning and gushing praise for this tea. Don’t get me wrong this is a GREAT tea, but is it as good as the one I was drinking about a week ago….. dunno
Rich, velvety, dark chocolate – almost bitter chocolate – and then there is a deeper note that’s reading as buttery to me – as this cools it’s coming across as chocolate buttercream icing. Bitter – sweet – buttery – creamy.
It’s good – it’s really good – but not at the top of the list….
Thanks Sil for sharing – this has been on my wishlist forever. :))

Hahaha I love this one but it’s hard to stack them all up against one another. Different occasions is what it comes down to for me

This smells FANTASTIC.

SO SO GOOD. REAL CHOCOLATE. Not the fake weirdo chemically stuff. Real. Chocolate.

My cup was super full so I only added the tiniest bit of cream. OMG. So so good.

Sil mentioned Florence by H&S in one of her notes. This is way better, I agree. The flavouring of Florence felt really fake once I had finished all of it. This feels like I’m drinking dark chocolate tea. :)

Thanks so much, Sil!

That’s only about seven pounds or so. Not so much. It could have been chocolate truffles or something along those lines.

This is a very tasty tea and they swear it is gluten free so I am drinking it despite my suspicions. One of the ingredients sounds like gluten to me but they swear it isn’t. European standards on gluten are generally tougher than American. They swear it is gluten free according to the standards of the European Parliament. They tell me the biscuit is a “flavor of synthesis” whatever that means.

In any case it has a deep rich chocolate taste. Perhaps the most chocolaty tea I have had yet.

I steeped this once in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 3 tsp leaf and 190 degree water for 4 min.

This sample came from ashmanra, who was kind enough to send me samples of some of her French teas. Apparently a charlotte is the same thing as an icebox cake, yum. The base tea here looks unusual for DF, the leaves are super small and super thin, and almost jet black in color. According to the description, it’s a Keemun. There are also some dried flower petals mixed in, which doesn’t really make sense given the flavors here.

The steeped tea smells quite earthy, which makes sense given the Keemun base. Whoa, for some reason this came out quite bitter. And other than that, I’m not a huge fan of this tea base. It’s very earthy with strong mineral notes and an almost smoky thing going on. I don’t really taste chocolate much, I think it’s somewhat lost among the similarly bitter base tea. I guess this one needed a shorter steep time, I’m used to DF teas being able to handle a 4-minute steep without getting bitter.

I didn’t know what a Charlotte was! I should have looked it up. This tea is fickle for me. Just when I decide I don’t like it and I have to steep it for shorter times at lower temps, suddenly a pot of it comes out wonderful. My youngest just recently had a pot and loved it. I don’t understand this one! Maybe it is more of a mood tea..
