From Davidson's Organics

MANDARIN CHAI combines superior organic Indian tea with other traditional organic herbs and spices to create a potent spicy cup of tea, lending itself well to the addition of milk and sweetener. A touch of anise is the secret surprise ingredient, which makes this blend so popular. Fabulous with milk and honey and Delicious over ice!

Ingredients
Black Tea (Certified Organic), Cinnamon (Certified Organic), Cloves (Certified Organic), Cardamom, Orange Peel (Certified Organic), Anise (Certified Organic), and Cassia, Maple, Clove and Licorice Oils.

Did half milk/half water + sugar and tea and brought it to a boil. It’s like chai with a splash of creamsicle. Or if I made a light masala chai using my orange milk instead of normal milk. (Yes, I have orange milk – it is gooooood).

Ok, this tea sounds simply delightful, one. But two, ORANGE MILK? That sounds uh.maze.ing. Where? Where?

Promised Land brand milk – it’s a seasonal flavor that I picked up at Central Market (which, if you aren’t familiar with it, is a gourmet/hippie grocery store). I also got the tea at Central Market. Yay Central Market!

Backlog:

A friend sent me this tea as part of a holiday gift.

Meh … this is alright, but as far as chai blends go, it’s a little on the underwhelming side. There is a flavorful black tea base, but I found the spices to be a little lacking. It’s not really spicy, and while I’ve enjoyed many chai blends that I wouldn’t consider “spicy” or hot … I feel like this blend sort of misses the mark a little. I think it needs some ginger.

I do like the licorice-y snap to this, though. It’s got a nice warmth to it, I just want that peppery kick from the ginger, and I feel like this blend suffers because of the lack of ginger.

Dark in Color. Hint of Cinnamon Scent. Undertones of a few spices. Not over powering. Average Overall Taste. Good for those who like it on the light side of the chai scene.
