From DAVIDsTEA

Kiss me, kiss me

Okay, this is probably the world’s best chocolate tea. Honestly. Better than dessert. More reliable than sex. It’s a totally decadent combination of China black tea, vanilla, peppermint, chocolate bits and spicy red peppercorns. Plus it contains little red candy lips for a kiss of sweetness. In other words, it’s a completely satisfying spring experience with no guilt or strings attached.

Ingredients: Chinese black tea, peppermint, dark chocolate (Sugar, chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, soy lecithin and vanilla), red lip sprinkles (sugar, rice flour, cottonseed or soybean oil, cornstarch, gum and soy lecithin, colouring), pink peppercorns, natural and artificial flavouring*.

Allergens: Soy and may contain dairy

Hat trick sip down! But who am I kidding. I love this one so I know I’ll be getting more sometime soon anyway. So really, finishing this one up isn’t getting me ahead in any way and definitely won’t let me justify making more orders to other places!

I added some french vanilla soy creamer this time around and it tasted like creamy mint milk chocolate. It makes me want a bar of Cadbury mint chocolate.

A special one, it is.

Read My Lips – this is the best chocolate mint blend, hands down! Thanks to Wifey_Woman for sharing some from her stash. I am officially a David’s Tea fan!

Love the blend of dark chocolate and peppermint. This is a liquid peppermint patty, which is one of my favorite candies. Chocolate and mint are a match made in heaven and sipping this tea will send you to cloud 9!

This blend of chocolate and mint lasted through three steepings, too. Longevity rocks!

P.S. The little lip candies are totally cutie too.

IllBeMother221B

Glad you liked it. :)

Uniquity

Wow…We’ve BOTH come around on chocolate tea (for this one, at least). That’s big praise! : )

KeenTeaThyme

All thanks to Wifey_Woman and the wonderful David’s Tea. Must. Order.

IllBeMother221B

Ha hope your hubby doesn’t blame me for that order!

KeenTeaThyme

What he doesn’t know… ;) lol

Uniquity

Yay more tea! : )

What a lovely way to start December! This was the first tea of the advent calendar (it’s evening, if you haven’t ripped into your advent calendar yet, you deserve spoilers!) and we were very impressed! The tins for the calendar are 2-3 times the size of their sampler tins, if you’ve ever put in an online order. So we changed plans a little. I had been planning to just have a cup every morning, but since the tins are so large, the wife and I decided to use our pretty Christmas teapot and share a pot every morning!

This is an old favorite. We both really enjoy this tea, so we were more than happy to share. The smooth chocolate and mint blend so well with the bite of peppercorn….mmm. This is a bestseller for a reason.

I was hoping for a tea I didn’t have to start the month but then I realized I think there are only about 5 teas in the whole thing I haven’t tried yet so the chances were pretty good it would be one I have. But it is a great one so I don’t mind. Can’t wait for tomorrow.

Yummy!!!! So chocolatey and minty, but not gross whole-leaf peppermint like I dislike, more of a candycane sort of peppermint, which I find completely tolerable in conjunction with chocolate! I thought I would finish off the tin of this from the advent calendar last night, but alas, there was more than just 1.5 tsp in the tin, it was more like 2.5. So I left the rest for my roommate.

Anyhow, I’m drinking this one cold as well as it has sat since last night. It tastes pretty much exactly like liquid peppermint patties, which I actually really like. And aside from the lack of actual… chewable matter in my mouth, this is quite satisfying as a dessert tea! Definitely one to pick up if you love chocolate mint.

Another tea I KNOW I’ve written notes for and yet I can’t find them.
I’ve noticed that if you click on the heart/likes link, it will take you to the review and show you others from that person but that is not the case here. That’s frustrating, because I would really like to compare this to my previous notes. There are a dozen pages of notes on this one. I’d really rather not go through every one just to find my own. Le sighs.
Bah!!! Sorry for the rant. I’m not in a terrible mood I swear!
So on to the tea.
It’s not bad, a little fake tasting, but decent enough. Another one that lists artificial ingredients now where it didn’t when I bought it (a serious pet peeve of mine! grrrrr)
It’s mint and chocolate all rolled together, though I’m not sure how much spice the peppercorns add.
For me, this must be had with milk and a dash of sugar, and really hits the spot when I’m craving it.
Overall, a great starter tea for anyone just getting into looseleaf :)

TheTeaFairy

I much prefer Santa’s secret to this one… So what-up with your tea logs? I’ve noticed that there are sometimes 2 different versions of the same tea, but I’m sure you checked that already…

Indigobloom

Oh I’ve checked, but this time I think it’s more a case of laziness LOL
I mean, going through every review to find mine… ugh. If only they were in alpha order!

TheTeaFairy

When ( IF I ever do! ) reach the number of reviews you have written so far, it might also become a problem for me but having only a poor 52 reviews under my belt, I don’t have to worry about that for now :-)

Indigobloom

Lol you’ll get there sooner than you think!
Don’t think I ever tried Santa’s Secret. Was a green right?

TheTeaFairy

Lots of people compare the two, that’s why I mentioned it… it’s also a black mint tea, but has no chocolate in, replace that with creamy vanilla flavour and cute mini sugar canes, lots of fun for the holidays! I’m not into DT as much as I used to, but this is still one of my faves!

Indigobloom

I’ve heard that to.
Lately, I find DT blends disappoint. Makes me sad, they opened my eyes to looseleaf!

TheTeaFairy

Me too Indigo, I miss my DAVID…I just can’t stand all the goo I see floating in my cup from most of their new teas… I can still enjoy a good flavoured tea, but their ratio is just too much stuff other than tea! If it was all natural it wouldn’t be so bad, but they add so much more artificial than they used to…Luckily, they still carry some of my old favourites, so all is not lost :-) having said that, I aven’t tried the new winter blends, have you?

Indigobloom

Pffft, I haven’t bothered. They come out with so many these days, what is the point?! it will only be discontinued shortly, and the lineup is usually so long…

I did two out of curiosity cold steeps last night and this is the first of them. The candy lips definitely turn this an interesting shade of red.

I don’t recommend this method if this tea also reminds you of Lip Smackers of the past. Once I get over the smell and initial taste that reminds me so much of the Mint Choco Ship flavor I had when I was 8 or 9. After that though, this is pretty tasty.

Definitely not something I would have ever thought to cold steep before. I think the chocolate seems more pronounced this way.

Daniel Scott

I would NEVER have cold-brewed this one! Now I want to try it.

softrevolution

I never would have made the association but you are absolutely right, it smells like lip smackers! Kinda makes me love it even more :P

I recently discovered it and I am enamored! Wow… I love it! I have yet to write my tasting note. Sadly I can’t get it Ecuador, so it is a rare treat!

De

Just checked the shipping for a small package to Ecuador, it wouldn’t be more than $5-10. I can pick some up for you . . .

Ninavampi

Really?!? That would be amazing! : ) Would you want me to paypal you the money or would you like to swap? Thanks so much for offering! : )

Chocolate mint has always been a favorite combination of mine. It started back when I was a Girl Scout and got to try my first Thin Mint cookie. Now this season at work we are selling Peppermint Mochas and mint chocolate cookies. I have been dying to eat a whole mint chocolate cookie, but my diet will be so happy that this tea has been found!

Thanks again Kristin for the delicious sample. I will have to get my hands on a tin of this once I clear out more of my cupboard. This is a delicious tasting chocolate with mint and vanilla and black tea. I forgot I brewed it and let it cool quite a bit, and it is very delicious at room temperature. I bet it would make an even better hot tea, and a really good tea latte with some chocolate milk. I will have to heat up the next cup and review again. This tea makes me happy!

The power is out all around where I live. My apartment is running on a back up generator so some of my apartment has power, but most of it doesn’t. A few lights work and most of the kitchen is working. I’m currently sitting on my kitchen counter with my laptop and phone plugged into one of the only outlets that’s working, eating ramen noodles (yay gas stove) and enjoying a nice fresh cup of Read My Lips. Thank god the outlet my Breville is plugged into is working!

I’m not sure if I will be working today or not. The power has been off at my work since about 6pm last night. My boyfriend however was not so lucky. He ventured out into the storm at 5am only to find power is on at his work and about 1/2 the people showed up today. But, since power is on the day is going according to plan for him. So I’m alone hoping the generator stays on. And very cold since the heat has been off for a while now. Yup, just me and my rats and a cup of Read My Lips. Someone had just asked in the discussions thread what tea is your “pick me up” tea – I think it’s safe to say this is my pick me up tea. I reached for it right away it wasn’t even a thought process.

Ninavampi

Awe! Keep warm!!!!

Ninavampi

Aww not awe… Silly autocorrect…

Bonnie

Hope you have power for a long time. Hooray for gas stoves! You will always have hot water and be able to cook! I had a gas stove and water heater (Hot Showers and baths) in a snowstorm (Paradise,CA) when 6 teenaged girls and I were without power for 3 days. I had a woodstove for heat and snow for a frig. Keeping them entertained was aweful!
