From DAVIDsTEA

Kiss me, kiss me

Okay, this is probably the world’s best chocolate tea. Honestly. Better than dessert. More reliable than sex. It’s a totally decadent combination of China black tea, vanilla, peppermint, chocolate bits and spicy red peppercorns. Plus it contains little red candy lips for a kiss of sweetness. In other words, it’s a completely satisfying spring experience with no guilt or strings attached.

Ingredients: Chinese black tea, peppermint, dark chocolate (Sugar, chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, soy lecithin and vanilla), red lip sprinkles (sugar, rice flour, cottonseed or soybean oil, cornstarch, gum and soy lecithin, colouring), pink peppercorns, natural and artificial flavouring*.

Allergens: Soy and may contain dairy

Sipdown!

This starts off on a waxy dark chocolate note. Dark chocolate = awesome, waxy = cheap. I also wasn’t expecting peppermint in this and I found it didn’t mingle with the chocolate well. Almost too similar to Mint to Be and out of the two, Mint to Be wins over for me. Overall this is okay, but not a rebuy.

Oh boy, this tea is gooooood. It is the most chocolatey tea I have ever tasted – exactly like mint hot chocolate, the mouthfeel and everything!! I used to think PC’s Chocolatey Mint was my favourite chocolate tea… no way. This one, by a mile. As I’m trying to eat as little sugar as possible (only 6g today! yay!) these sugary sweet teas from David’s have been a lifesaver. I can get my sweet tooth on without the sugar or calories. So fantastic.

The resteep wasn’t great, though.

I got this tea in the sweet indulgence set and to be honestly when the little card said it was the best chocolate tea I was expecting something, well chocolate. It took me almost the whole cup to figure out where I had tasted this exact tea before and then it dawned on me, presidents choice mint chocolate tea. It’s literally the exact same tea (but the PC is cheaper) the mint is very overpowering in this, and I’m really not a fan of mint. There was enough in the sample box for 2 cups and this is one that my husband will end up finishing off (I pawn all the teas I’m not a fan of off on him.)

I can’t believe that I never reviewed this tea. I’m currently drinking my last cup of Read My Lips. I must say, that I bought this tea because so many people seemed to love it. It really is amazing. The black tea provides a nice background to the mint and chocolate flavors. I feel that without the black tea, Read My Lips would be really light in flavor. This tea tastes amazing sweetened with honey and good without. I drink it when all I want to do is go eat tons of sweets. Totally a healthier alternative. And just as satisfying. To bad I don’t have anymore. I’m running out of loose tea and frankly it’s making me very sad as it’ll be a while before I can buy some more tea. My budget’s really tight right now. Anyway, Read my Lips is delicious, like a light tea version of Andes mints.

Ah yes, this tea. For some reason I was under the impression that it was going to be cinnamon-flavored, and not the mild sugary kind either but the red hot kind that knocks your socks off…maybe it was the red candy pieces in the mix giving me that idea! So I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was a chocolate and mint blend instead. The scent of this one is pleasant—creamy chocolate and light mint, with nothing off or overpowering about it. The tea itself is quite smooth, and just a little sweet with the addition of mint. The chocolate flavor is not strong but lingers nicely, and overall the combination reminds me of DAVIDsTEA’s White Chocolate Frost, so they probably used some of the same ingredients here. Overall, it’s a very tasty dessert-like tea. (I’m still fighting back the impulse with every new chocolatey tea to exclaim how amazing it is that it isn’t horrible—I think experiences with certain blends have been a little traumatizing.)

It’s probably a bit late in the day to drink black tea, but I’ve got work to do and this one definitely picked me up just enough (but not too much) to help with it. Thanks beelicious for the sample! I’m finally getting close to trying everything in the endless stash :)

This tea. Extra strong. With a bit of Bailey’s. YUM.

Today I’m just drinking it straight up. I have to admit this one gets points just for being so cute. Those sprinkles and little chocolate chips are so adorable they make me want to buy the tea just to look at it. It tastes pretty darn good too. I’m not in the mood for flavoured tea every day, but when I am I frequently go for this one. Until recently I thought I was firmly against mint teas, but I think I’ve found one major exception.

It’s sweet. Very sweet. I personally think that the chocolatey sweetness balances the mint nicely in a way that tones it down, but if you’re already a mint lover that might not be something you enjoy. I can absolutely see why some people love this one and others hate it. I personally am a big fan of the chocolate and sprinkles, even though it might not be a combination I’ll go for on a daily basis. It’s a great tea for every now and then.

I like this tea a lot. I drink my tea black, so the kick of chocolate was pleasant, and not too sweet. I like to have one fun tea on hand, one serious tea, and an herbal. I would definitely consider this to be a good standby in the fun category.
