Black Tea by DAVIDsTEA

Kiss me, kiss me

Okay, this is probably the world’s best chocolate tea. Honestly. Better than dessert. More reliable than sex. It’s a totally decadent combination of China black tea, vanilla, peppermint, chocolate bits and spicy red peppercorns. Plus it contains little red candy lips for a kiss of sweetness. In other words, it’s a completely satisfying spring experience with no guilt or strings attached.

Ingredients: Chinese black tea, peppermint, dark chocolate, red lip sprinkles, pink peppercorns, natural and artificial flavouring*.

Allergens: Soy and dairy

Unlike most people, I am not a big fan of chocolate, so it only makes sense that I don’t find this tea as wonderful as most do. In the “chocolate teas” category, I find I preferred the Chocolate Chili Chai they had last winter, which in my sense was fairly similar to this one, except for the added chili (which I loved!).

However, of all chocolate teas I’ve tried so far, this is definitely the most chocolatey, so I can see how it is so popular. The black tea is hard to separate from the rest and evaluate, but for sure it adds a very welcome richness to the blend. As for the mint, it is definitely there, but not as much as I’d like. For me, the best chocolate-mint combination had been achieved in the Mint Chocolate Maté DT discontinued a few months ago, and which was like drinking After Eights (sorry, I’m getting nostalgic now!).

I added about 10 points on the rating scale just for the aftertaste, which I find wonderful – the vanilla really comes through at that point. It remains in your mouth for a really long time and makes you want to get more and more.

Wow. This is a great tea. I oversteeped because my mother called and I was worried that it would be bitter but it really wasn’t. I really got the chocolate flavour to start but now that it has cooled off some the mint flavour is amazing. This will be a regular in my cupboard for sure.

I had this iced yesterday. Actually I prepared it iced but I only had a couple of sips before ball and it sat in the car during the game. It was nice iced but I found the flavour was better (more minty) an hour later after the ice had melted. It was still cool just not iced. I will definately be trying this again. I will make it in my pot though and not do the double amount of tea and then ice it hot. Maybe that will make a difference. And it is almost time to refill my tin.

Mmmm. I love anything chocolate mint and this tea really hits the spot. It smells like a cup of amazing melted chocolate, but then the sweet mint is the main flavour that hits you when you taste it. Part of me wishes that it tasted a little bit more of chocolate, but it is still perfect and definitely satisfies my cravings anyway – I even feel like I’m being a little bit bad…

(and sadly this cup was the last one left of my 50g bag and I have to re-stock…definitely a flavour that I always have to have on my shelf!)

This tea makes everything better. The mint chocolate flavour is a less sinful (but not less flavourful!) version of hot chocolate. No matter what kind of day I have had, this tea makes me feel like a kid again, cozy in my pj’s, letting the day go.

I have a lot of David’s tea in my pantry and I go regularly buy all kind of tea, but Read my lips hook me. It got me addicted. I just put all my others tea aside because there’s nothing like it. Sweet, fresh, soft, it’s happiness in a cup! I just can leave without it anymore. My others tea are jealous, maybe one day I’ll go back to them, but for now, I’m in love!

This was a tea that I bought my mom for Christmas and naturally, I had to try it (I paid for it :p). The first time I tried it, I didnt really like it. I found it a bit too minty but it grew on me. The other day I acctually tried it as a latte with grated chocolate on top and really liked that. I think it would also be good with a bit of crushed candy cane on top ;).

Smells like chocolate mint… Yum. It smells great and it is so very pretty. All those pretty little lips! Taste: it tastes great. A nice mint chocolate tea. Is it just me or does this tea taste a bit like Chocolate Chili Chai? I am definitely getting a heat. I am really happy that this tea will make me miss CCC less once it’s gone.

For some reason, the first time I had this tea, it reminded me of Adagio’s Scorpio tea…which doesn’t make a lot of sense because that tea has a rooibos base and mango flavor in addition to the chocolate. On my first few cups of this, I thought I preferred Adagio. But the more I drink this one, the more I really like it, and the Adagio comparison seems to diminish.

It has some of my favorite notes in teas (e.g. vanilla) and I like the slightly spicy aroma. It’s a good dessert tea for blah days when I’m in need of something special. I didn’t buy too much of it because I hadn’t sampled it before buying, but I’m working my way through my 2 oz. pretty quickly and will have to decide soon if I’m going to buy more as a standby.

As soon as I smelt this tea I knew it was going to be something special. As a new, self proclaimed tea fanatic, this was my first try at DavidsTea, and now Im hooked. The dry leaf scent smells rich and chocolately, when steeped this tea held its amazing aroma. One pleasant surprise came after the first slip, the mint! I love mint and chocolate together, this tea just kept getting better. The only difference I would have made was my steeping time, it recommends 4 to 5 minuets, so i steeped it for 5, but I would have preferred longer as I like a bolder taste! A wonderful tea.

I had this tea last night while I was at a Girl Guide meeting with some pre-teens. Absolutely delicious, this is a tea where I actually get a lovely chocolate flavour that seems to come up out of the depths to say “Hey girl, did ya miss me?” Definitely on the shopping list for next time…

This tea is so cute with its lips and its chocolate chips. I always get a warm fuzzy feeling when the chocolatey mint hits my tongue, with just a little bit of warmth from the peppercorns. Yum.

I knew I was going to love this when I first opened the bag. It smelled like chocolate mint heaven. This is tea? I was so excited to try this!

After steeping I waited til it was cooled down a bit to enjoy it. Love the minty aftertaste and the chocolate flavor is perfect. I added some vanilla almond milk to amp up the yummy flavor. I tried it without sugar for a bit but then I’m like, “what the hell” and added a teaspoon in. It developed just a little more of that sweetness that I wanted. It’s surely satisfying enough for any hot cocoa craving.

I also want to add that the end of the cup is amazing. Has some leftover sugar down there that didn’t get blended and it’s the perfect ending treat.

Not too bad. This if the first chocolate tea that I’d say actually tastes chocolatey. A little too sweet for me but I bet it would make a nice evening tea.

the company description of this tea is totally on-spot. it is so deliciously decadent that is really does act like a dessert. I am rating this higher than my DavidsTEA holiday favourite of Choco-Chili Chai because i adore the smack of peppermint in the mix. I’ve always been a mint tea lover, but have been especially enamoured of mint and peppermint in black teas recently. definitely, definitely, definitely an A+ in my scorebook. a touch of sugar makes it nicer, but not a necessity for this treat!

Ok, ok you paying attention? now Read My Lips…

Wow this tea totally broke me and converted a family member to tea, it is literally like drinking a mint chocolate chip. They were not joking when they say this is the best Chocolate tea in the world!

Dry the tea is a cornucopia of colors and little bits and pieces, it has the soft aroma of chocolate and mint, who would have thought that seeing as they key ingredients! Unfortunately I didn’t take the time to smell the tea while it was steeping, but luckily this isn’t a big factor.

The final brew is a golden brown color and has a pleasing chocolate aroma to it. The peppercorns add just the perfect amount of bite to this otherwise sweet tea, hands down one of my favorite teas from DT I honestly do not think I could get tired of drinking this one, one cup even converted my coffee drinking sister and caused her to order some immediately.

This is a must try tea for everyone, I honestly do not know how someone couldn’t like this tea as it is exactly what it claims, no frills or gimmicks just an awesome cup of tea.

Initial impressions- Smelling it from afar I get a primarily minty scent; up close the chocolate and mint mingle exceptionally well. Looking in I see the black tea, along with some green leaves (peppermint), chocolate pieces, pink peppercorns, and little red candy lips. Very pretty tea!
How I brew it- In 94 degree water (I’m at work and it’s as hot as the machine will go) for nine minutes (I usually do seven, but I got distracted!). No sweetener.
I am trying to record all of my teas, so I have to admit this one has been a staple for a while. It’s also absolutely fabulous with a bit of agave and steamed milk.
First sips- A refreshing pick-me-up after lunch. The peppermint hits my palette first, followed my mingling chocolate flavours. The black tea flavour is there, but not really noticeable. This is one of my all time favourite teas.

I describe this tea to other people as chocolatey goodness that smells like the forest. It’s great anytime of the year and goes well with soy milk and little bit of agave.

Chocolate. What more could a girl want? This tea is yummy and chocolatey and dark and satisfying. Add a splash of milk and you really have something here. However, I don’t get a whole lot of the mint that everyone is talking about… there’s something faint in the background, but nothing that is really striking me as mint chocolate cookies or anything like that… just a pleasantly fresh finish. That’s just fine by me, since I’m not a HUGE fan of mint chocolate. :) Overall a lovely chocolate tea. Fresh, strong and delicious!
