From DAVIDsTEA

It’s all about the leaf

Looking for a taste of Canada? Try this red rooibos tea. It’s sweetened with (what else?) maple syrup and sprinkled with delicious maple leaf candies. Plus it’s 100% diplomatic (well, caffeine-free) and tastes great in both our official languages. With green rooibos, honeybush, caramel and toffee bits to shake things up. A truly authentic Canadian experience.

Ingredients: South African green and red rooibos, honeybush, caramel bits, toffee bits, candy leaves, artificial and natural flavouring*.

Allergens: Soy, dairy and tree nuts

This was one of the first teas I tried from DAVIDs. The first time I tried it I found it was a bit lacking but I assumed I had steeped it wrong. That may have been the case. The second time I tried it – with a bit of honey – I drank it all in no time. It reminds me of standing in line at a Tim Hortons waiting for a Maple Doughnut with a wonderful aftertaste.

It will definitely be in my cupboard for a long time.

I’m a Canadian, and I looove maple, so of course I had to try this!

The loose tea smells amazing in the tin, lots of maple, and it is fun to look at as well – the different coloured maple leaf shaped candies are adorable!

When steeped it definitely doesn’t disappoint – it is a lovely rooibos with a fair bit of maple, no doot aboot it! It it sweet but not sickeningly so – great for fending off a sweet tooth craving! It does have caramel and toffee bits in it along with the candy maple leaves, so I haven’t used any additional sweeteners in this. I have tried it with and without milk and it is delicious both ways.

The aroma is absolutely wonderful, strong and a little syrupy – I can see why some people think of pancakes when trying this. The maple flavour lingers in the aftertaste, yum!

I really enjoy this, and I’m sure I will repurchase it at some point. I did purchase Birthday Cake recently as well – I had read some reviews that said the two were similar, but I am not finding that to be the case, beyond the fact that they are both rooibos based and sweet. I prefer Birthday Cake, which I was surprised by, but they are both wonderful – vanilla frosting or maple, I don’t think you can really go wrong with either!

The aroma is what sold me on this tea and it was my first experience with a rooibos, and what an introduction it was! I’ve played around with a few different sweeteners and I actually will throw a dash of real maple syrup in the cup as a treat.

Once steeped, it still retains the maple smell which for me is half the enjoyment of having a cup of it.

Definitely a tea I’ll always go back to if I don’t know what I’m in the mood to have. A delicious red rooibos, which is not something you’ll normally hear me saying but it’s for a sure a tea that makes me ‘proud’ to be Canadian. It just simply tastes Canadian and the little coloured maple leaf candies just add to the feel of this tea so much. Practically feels like you’re drinking maple syrup.

Got this in my Sweet Indulgence sampler pack.
Not sure what I was really expecting, but from the description, I was somewhat excited to try it as I placed an order. Leaf shaped sprinkles, how cute is that? Presentation gets a plus.
Once I’d steeped it however, I just couldn’t get over the fakeness and sickly sweetness of the maple flavor. Eventually I got tired of having the rest of the tea sitting in a mug next to me, and tossed it. After the first try, I’m not so willing to give it another go.

Favourite favourite tea. Wish it had a tiny bit more of caramel/maple flavour but I already love it. <3

I love sweet tea, but I found this one almost too sweet. The maple tastes wonderful, but was a little much the few times I’ve had it. (That said, I do add sugar to my tea on a regular basis, so maybe this one requires no sugar at all.)

This is one of the teas that tastes exactly how it smells: like maple candy. With that said, it’s an okay tea. I personally felt no need to add more sweetener in it, and this tea is not very overpowering. This is good with some milk in it, too! Seeing as I’m not a huge 100% maple fan, this is not a tea I’d go buy.

Myself being Canadian and loving all things maple, this is a huge favorite of mine! When most people think maple tea, they think of a hot drink that tastes exactly like maple syrup. Come on people, really? This has a light maple flavor, just sweet enough, its warm and rich (the only word I can think of to describe it) and definitely good enough to drink all day long. I let mine steep for 10 mins + since I like my tea strong, also because I forget about it as I bring my steeper mug to work and make it there! Anyways, awesome tea, very delicious, recommend to everyone :D
