I looove chamomile when I’m going to go to bed, but most blends ruin it for me with too. much. licorice.

Not this blend! There’s just the right amount for my liking, and omg hibiscus? hiss… I didn’t realize that was why it was pink! haha I’m smart. Anyways, I guess I should also say that there is the right amount of hibiscus in this for my liking as well :)

It’s not different enough from my usual bagged unnamed grocery store brand sleepy time tea to warrant buying the loose leaf though, when I need sleep inducing herbs, I think I’ll continue to use that.

Great to give this a try though!
It would have helped us fall asleep.. if I hadn’t made the super strong chai a few hours before. le sigh.

Dear Steepster friends who say they are freezing:
It is currently -49 C with the windchill in Regina, SK. Trade you spots? (Except you, Faith :D )
Sweet dreams!

Thank goodness for hot tea!

This is my very first experience with chamomile. I have been so busy lately, tonight I am so looking forward to a good, long sleep. So I wanted a nice, relaxing tea before bed.

Courtney sent me a sample of this one, quite a while ago. It smells atrocious to me, like wet fields or something. Steeped, it’s much less fragrant, and actually quite palatable. I am definitely not going to steep these leaves again, even though I know the second steep would probably be the one I would prefer… but there is another cup left in the bag, and I will probably have no trouble drinking it.

I am feeling quite relaxed, so I guess it did the trick.

so this is day 7 of my new teas and first of the day …. trying this tea as a sample from Davids tea but it has everything people sugested to help with my anxiety.. Right now im just laying in bed counting the moments for my husband to come home…
This tea is actually really good and i can taste the orange and lemon and even though im drinking a sleepy tea at 4 pm i think its helping calm me … its very nice and i think buying a bag of this would be worth it ..

Dry Leaf Nose: Chamomile takes the lead with lemon notes playing in the background.

Liquor: Yellow-pink with aromas of chamomile and lemon.

Flavour: Chamomile, lemon and fennel combine to make this complex blend round and satisfying. The cup is naturally sweet due to the licorice and has a nice citrus finish.

Last tea log for the evening, as this tea is definitely a before-bed tea (the name suits it well). So I have had quite a few cups of this tea and haven’t logged yet as I just found Steepster last week!

This tea smells very sweet and soft, but lots of licorice. Smells quite a bit more lemony after the water has been added, which I prefer. I always steep for the full 7 mins with this one.

Taste— I’d like to note that the blend I got really doesn’t seem to have many flower-like bits in it! Must just vary depending on the blend..anyways, back to the taste. This time around there is a lot more lemon present! I wonder why..I recall previous cups being sweeter..ah well it’s still good!! There is still a fair amount of licorice sweetness & fennel kicking through, in a subtle way. Must have been more lemongrass in this cup! Pretty smooth and relaxing. Oh, and there is quite a bit of chamomile, how could I neglect that, it’s just so soft and familiar. And I’m detecting a distinct sweetness at the end of each sip. So warming.

Overall, a very nice nighttime tea, doesn’t really make me overly sleepy, but the caffeine-free nature of this tea does relax me quite a bit. It’s a bit of a sweeter chamomile, but I still enjoy it. Wish I could taste a bit more of the floral notes, just for some variety. Still, would probably buy it again sometime.

Having this while I study for my 4th midterm of the term tonight. Hoping it’s not quite as licoricy and bitter as the last cup, which I didn’t even log! Steeped for only 5 mins this time tho :) please see previous note for full review.

ETA: It tastes very good tonight! Huzzah!

Trying to finish up this bag, I have about 3 cups left or so..I’ve been steeping this shorter and it is more enjoyable. Also, I have been eating popcorn tonight and I needed a break from salt, so this is hitting the spot nicely. Still prefer Mother’s Little Helper for a bedtime tea, but I want to finish this off so I can make room for MOAR teas! Haha, see previous notes on this one as well.

Having a cup of this today because I haven’t had it in ages since I had a really blargh bitter cup. It smells quite sweet and licorice today, so I don’t know how it will go. Also lots of bits floating that made it through the steeper lol. Oh well, trying to finish up the bag so I can make room for when my new teas arrive!

ETA: The lower steeping time helped a lot. This is a sweet little cuppa that is warming and not too bad today. Still not my favorite due to all the fennel, but I will be able to finish the cup at least :)

And drinking this again..I’m running low on variety for herbal teas :P I need to get me some Mother’s Little Helper ASAP for before bed! Anyways, see previous notes on this one, still tasty.

Backlog from this morning, blahh, this tea is not improving as I drink more of it. I shortened the steeping time to about 3.5 mins as this is near the bottom of the bag and always ends up bitter from bits of something. But today it was still bitter, ick…. I drank half of it and poured the rest. :( this tea used to be so much better! Hoping to eventually sip this down. I won’t change the rating, because I’m pretty sure it’s just the bottom of the bag syndrome that’s ruining it.

Well since my other DAVID’S sample went less than ideally, I figured I’d just dump it and give this one a shot in the hopes it will get me to bed sooner.

The power is flickering here because it is so windy outside, so I’m glad I’ve got something i hot to drink.

I haven’t really had chamomile that much, but my grandmother loves it. In fact I think the only time I’ve ever had it I was at her house. She is very fussy about how she likes her tea prepped – she uses a HotShot to brew up the water, then steeps the bag (always Celestial Seasonings, from what I remember) for the length of the cup, and adds an ice cube to get it to cool down because she’s too impatient to wait those few minutes and let it cool down on it’s own. It’s funny what memories get triggered, sometimes.

Anyway, chamomile has an immediately recognizable smell, but at the same time, it’s not one that is particularly memorable to me, either. I couldn’t tell you what it smelled like without it being directly under my nose, in any event. Just – floral. And like it would be good with honey. But in this case I have an extra tang of hibiscus pinking up the liquor and adding an interesting complexity to the scent.

I’m surprised, but I really really like this! I think it’s the hibiscus that’s doing it, too. There’s just enough to be noticeable, but not enough that I’m tasting that overly drying, metallic note. I think I taste the lemon/citrus addition as well, but thankfully no licorice – that really isn’t my thing.

Now if this sucker manages to get me sleepy on top of tasting good, I’m pretty sure an order will be in my future. Yay for pleasant surprises!

This was a sample tin from the advent calendar last year. I have a little left, should probably finish it! It was tasty, and did what was on the box, but to be honest, and bit unremarkable. I have some organic straight chamomile, and I think I prefer it straight. A nice blend though.

Bought this as part of a day, afternoon, and evening trilogy pack. First time trying it. There is a funny taste to it and I think it’s the hint of licorice that is tasting a little funny to me. But as long as it does the trick of letting me get to sleep and stay that way I’m on board.

So reading the name of this tea makes me think of beyonce’s song ( sweet dreams). Give it a listen. Back to the tea, I thought it was perfect, I had it this morning, though I wanted to have it before bed last night. I was too tired to go and make it, so I just waited and had it this morning. It was super yummy and a great chamomile embrace. I may have the rest of the sample for bed tonight. :) What a great day 21 tea.

Invader Zim

Apparently I don’t enjoy licorice in my tea, no matter the amount. I thought this one might be better since it wasn’t the first on the ingredient list, whereas in Bravissimo, licorice was the first ingredient. It was better but alas it wasn’t that much better. Again, another I’m not going to rate because it will be too low and bring the entire rating of this tea down. At least now I know not to buy any more teas with licorice in them.

Colour me shocked. I avoided this one for so long because of the chamomile, it really isn’t my favourite tea. But what ruined this one for me was the fennel. It was too strong and overpowered everything else to the point where I seriously started wondering if the orange was all used during steeping, since that was all I smelled as it brewed.

I wonder what it’ll be like if I can pick the fennel out. Hmm.

Day #8. I think I had some of this once upon a time, but gave it away…I might need to restock. So sleepy…of course, it’s midnight. Hmmmm. But the taste is very nice, I love licorice…maybe I’ll pick up a few grams this weekend.

i love watching the tiny petals still attached to the bud of the flowers, it looks so delicate. The lemongrass floats and intermingles with the liquorice in my glass cup. Its seems a ballet taking place, releasing flavours and making me sleepy- i think this cup is really putting me to sleep- 4am shift, here i come :P bonne nuit

Haven’t been sleeping well, hopefully this helps a bit. At first I taste lemon and chamomile with a hint of orange. The licorice isn’t too strong, thankfully. The after taste has a hint of floral which I like and the orange is a bit strong in the after taste as well. I’m finding all chamomile teas are starting to taste the same lately.

Day 18 of my advent Calendar

I’d like to start off by saying that i am not a fan of Chamomile teas.

dry leaves smell like chamomile, lemon grass and i’m noting a spiciness too.

Steeped it smells really lemony but i can still smell that darn chamomile, Liqueur is a nice amber color.

Time to taste: tart but not too much, chamomile and the licorice there at the end leaves a sweetness on the tongue.

I don’t think that this tea is for me being that i am not a chamomile lover, honestly i don’t think i’ll even finish my cup, but for someone who enjoys chamomile this is a winner.

I haven’t slept worth nothing this week. I think tonight I might though from just pure tiredness.
My husband has been away this week for work… and I miss him… a lot. It’s weird falling asleep alone.

But tonight in the hopes of helping me sleep, I’ve brewed this one up. I don’t mind it, but I don’t care for the licorice. I think just a sprinkle of spearmint would be better.

The colour of this one is beautiful though. The hibiscus turns it just the faintest peach colour when it combines with the soft pale yellow of the lemon/orange/chamomile. A beautiful soft colour. And I must say, it is very well displayed in my 4oz double walled clear glasses. :)

Day 84 of my 101 days of DAVIDsTEA challenge, and the very last of my Advent calendar teas. (Yes, it’s February. I know.)

Dumped the container in my Chinese tea pot and made it with around 3 cups of water.

Sweet Dreams is caffeine free. Who am I to disagree? I’ve travelled the world and the seven seas, everybody’s looking for something…..

Ok. Admittedly I’ve been singing that ever since I’ve heard of this tea. Unfortunately, this tea appears to not be what I’ve been looking for.

The large array of ingredients in this tea makes for a rather deep flavour. That much was intriguing. However, I found the overall taste to be, while not bad, not something I’d want to have on a regular basis. It also bittered quickly, which again muted my enjoyment of it.

I suppose I’ll have to keep looking for that “something”.

Bit of a strange taste to this but that is the licorice and next time I won’t likely leave the leaves in. I am feeling really tired after finishing this so maybe it will help me sleep.

Nice light colour to this tea and it is a good chamomile tea. Definately prefer this to Mother’s Little Helper. This may be my new night time tea.

Finally having day 8 from my advent calendar. I can’t believe that I opened the wrong day when I knew about the gold tree covering the 1 of the 18. ARGH.

Oh well. This is a great tea for tonight because I am having problems falling asleep tonight. My little guy turns 3 tomorrow (today actually since it is after midnight) and we just finished putting all the balloons on his floor and the streamers on his door and I am just so excited for him to get up and see it. I hope he thinks it is cute and starts his day off right. Birthday’s should be exciting and he gets gyped with it being so close to Christmas. Still can’t believe he is 3.

First to log of the haul I got from TassieTeaGirl at our tea tasting yesterday! I poured my sample of this into my favourite Kinto unitea pot and took it upstairs to bed. Ooh la la. It’s got a sweet peachy colour to it (I believe this is the hibiscus’ fault), just enough sweetness to enjoy without anything added, and mostly chamomile and citrus lingering.

I think this is the first tea that I would say I hated. It tasted like a big cup of Mr. Clean and I couldn’t finish it. Down the drain it went.
