This is a special tea for me. Not because it is super delicious, but because it was the tea that made me start being an active member here on Steepster! Ashley (no longer active here on Steepster) sold me some of it because she had to get rid of her tea because she was moving. I was really excited to try it because I had read so many cool things about it and I can’t get any David’s tea here in Ecuador. So, one thing led to another, and I am here to stay on Steepster, but, as I realized this morning, I haven’t written a review for this tea yet!!!

The dry blend is really colorful and fruity. There are easily identifiable pieces of all kinds of fruits. Oddly enough, there are even carrots! It smells a bit like a mix of watermelon and banana candy. Very tropical fruity. It doesn’t quite scream watermelon, but it does flaunt its deliciousness as a fruity blend.

Once brewed I taste a bit more banana than watermelon, but watermelon is definitely there. It is super sweet without adding any sugar to it. Once iced, the watermelon shows up a it more. Sweetened it tastes like candy. I think that it could use a tiny bit of tartness to make the flavor stand out and make it seem less like candy water.

I really enjoy this tea, but it must be iced and only once in a while. It is super sweet, so when I want something sweet and fruity, this is exactly what I reach for. :)

Amanda THANK YOU!!!!

This is Watermelon, BUT, MORE than JUST Watermelon!

I can taste Watermelon, first, but then I can taste the apple and honeydew, too, and a little strawberry, AND even a bit of carrot.

This is really wonderful flavor-wise…just want I was hoping for! And NO Hibiscus! YAY!!!

YUMMERS!

I would say…why not just do a plan watermelon straight-up but I have done pure watermelon juice before and it does need a little extra sumpin’-sumpin’ and I think they GOT IT right at David’s! Nice job!

It’s about 80 outside, I’m by the pool listening to Bob Marley «could you be loved?» ( how appropriate!) Yes you could, you Luscious Watermelon!

I’m having it more than iced, I’m having it slushed! Got a recipe from David’s Tea newsletter and decided today was perfect to try it… Used a strong infusion and poured in my Vitamix with ice cubes. In replacement of the agave recommended, I added real watermelon already diced and frozen. Blended a few seconds, a dash of lime juice and I was good to go!

I know, it’s not «real» tea, but still comes from an infusion right? and who cares it’s so damn good and refreshing!

OK- OK- I know, but I had to go and buy a Watermelon Tea!
It’s already getting in the 80’s and the POOL opens MONDAY and the GRANDKIDS will be over to SWIM! What was I to DO?! The reviews on this tea have been pretty good.

First off, hot tea. It’s evening…and hot brewed…this smelled and tasted like fruit salad. I swear there were banana’s in the mix but Nooooo, the ingredients said Nooooo banana’s. It smelled like canned fruit cocktail. I think the apple was confusing things a bit. Apple gives me the taste of linen to a tea sometimes. Uh, the apple here is what sent me to the watermellon rind flavor. I needed a moment. I walked away, and came back.

I got some ice cubes that were made from spring water just for tea and added it to chill a half cup. Chilling helped bring the melon flavor to the forefront. The higher heat was masking the melon before, possibly increasing the beetroot and apple taste.
I let the rest of the tea cool down a bit before drinking more and it tasted much nicer. Adding a bit of sweetening helped also.

This is a fruit infusion. Great for kids! Good mixer with sparkling waters or 7-up.
No caffeine! No rooibos or honeybush for allergic people like me!

I’d buy it again. I have a Cantilope Tea from Butiki, Watermelon Tea from DT and some refreshing Alchemy Blends with Mint from Verdant to refresh hot or chilled with the kids!

Everyone is making iced tea!
Why not make some too today?! My grandkids are coming over to swim in my pool (I planned my purchase of this condo so that we could have a good time!).

What better than some sweetened Iced Watermelon Tea with a twist.
A let the tea brew quite strong, chilled it awhile then poured half in a tall glass and added a few ice cubes and sparkling water to fill the glass completely! (It gets better) There is an option to add sliced strawberries for those who want it. Um yum!
Don’t you love being a big kid and drinking a chilled fruit drink and a glob of real fruit splashes into your mouth! I DO!
(I must admit that the sweetening is not sugar little Micah turns into an ugly creature with sugar and we can’t have that)
It is a beautiful, sunny high altitude day here in the Frontrange. I’m listening to my Spotify… to Pink Martini http://youtu.be/satMi-rws1A
…ah yes….and drinking the cool watermelon tea…so refreshing and light! Not artificial tasting…and no caffeine either! Cool….so…cool…

Later when I need it (and I will need it later) I’m going to listen to the best Tango music ever that a fellow Steepster shared with me THANK YOU! and drink a stronger tea with some brawn…and caffeine!

On like my third glass of this iced right now. This was a part of the wonderful surprise tea care package that I won from DaisyChubb’s blog summer iced tea swap contest. A quick plug for her blog if you haven’t checked it out yet (DaisyChubb.com), it’s very entertaining, and she posts some really awesome recipes.

I’m going to withhold a ‘real’ review on this one (I know, I’ve been very lax on my reviewings lately). This one came out a little light in the flavor department, but I think we can remedy that if we step up the reactor power input by three more doritos.

However, even with a light flavor, let me say that this thing is delicious. I was hesitant at first because of the apple/carrot beginning… but the flavor comes off as a really, really tasty blend. If I could get juice from my juicer to taste like this, I’d totally go for it. Actually, I might be able to. Hmm… apple carrot watermelon… I think I’m going to try that this weekend.

Another big thank you to Daisy for the tea. I’ll give this a better rating (and a number!) after the next batch.

Yeah so my day did not get better, one of the professors in the econ department’s toddler was killed in the mall fire in Qatar. http://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta/child-killed-in-qatar-1449515.html I haven’t taken a class with her yet for longer than a month but she is really sweet and this is so sad to learn happened to her.

Anyway, I am finally home in Atlanta and there was plenty of tea waiting for me. I’ve just been dealing with making sure the plants on my patio look good. The flowers are looking horrible but new flowers would cost $2.50 so I’m not worried if they don’t make it. Now that I feel more settled in, it’s time to try some iced tea!

I brewed half a tablespoon in 4 oz of water and let it steep until I remembered it and strained it over ice. Wow! I was expecting to be disappointed by this, but I really wanted to try it. And I’m amazed at how good this tastes. It tastes purely of melons, both honeydew and watermelon.

It’s too bad it’s so bulky that it takes a lot to make one cup, but it’s soooo good. Now I wish I bought more than 50g already.

This definitely needs to be made strong. I think I just used 1 1/2 tsp earlier for iced tea…I even left the fruit sitting in there while it cooled and it’s just not as good as the first time. It just seems watered down, so I know it needs more. I want to buy more of this because it’s so good when it’s done right. It’s just so pricey in that case!

I had an interesting cocktail yesterday with watermelon pucker and cucumber vodka, shaken with chopped basil. I think with this in place of the pucker, it would be even better, since that stuff hardly tastes like a real watermelon.

omg I should not have tried out two different matchas while lunch was cooking and this was steeping. WHEE.

I don’t even know how much tea I used to make this glass of iced tea. Four teaspoons? Sounds good. Tastes better. Summer does not want to let go here…though it will on Sunday night! So that’s why I went for this one. I’m not so sure about the honeydew aspect of this tea. Maybe it’s the carrot, but it just has a weird taste to it. It goes from being slightly tart and sweet into this weird aftertaste that just doesn’t seem to match to me.

Actually it also reminds me of a melon aqua fresca.

I have a bit more of this left and then I probably won’t get it again because it just takes too much to get it to be super melon flavored.

And now I am starting to get real annoyed with FedEx because they tried to deliver my Kusmi order when I was even home yesterday (1pm wtf is that) AND tried to deliver the package I was supposed to wait for at my boyfriend’s before I was even awake. I had mine sent to the local store over a day ago so it’d be real nice if I could get it already…

I spent a good amount of time preparing various teas to chill or cold brew since its a hot weekend and we will be wanting to drink lots of cold drinks!

This particular tea I decided to brew hot and then ice. I read somewhere that fruit teas don’t cold brew well. I have my doubts about that but I only had enough to make one pitcher so I thought I’d go the safe route.

Dry, this tea smells like melony heaven. Very honeydew! Yum!

Hot, this tea just tastes mostly like hot apple. After chilling this tastes more like sweet melon but still pretty strongly of dried apple pieces. I don’t really like the taste of dried apple pieces. Other than that this tea is definitely very summery and melony. I don’t think I like this enough to get more but it is definitely tasty. Could be good as a liquid for aqua fresca.

Husband has already consumed more than half a pitcher. Good thing I made all those other teas cold brew style!

Very watermelon-y. I drank it hot; definitely think it should be iced instead. But surprisingly tasty and accurate flavor despite that!

DAVIDsTEA

Dry Leaf Nose: Sweet, sweet watermelon.

Liquor: Rosy tone and usually clear coloured, although this can vary depending on the amount of fruit present in the steep.

Flavour: Sweet watermelon.

Thank you Kittenna for this sample. :)

It’s just after 1am at the start of the new year here in the UK so Happy New Year everyone!

Watermelon is my second favourite food ever (after cookie dough) so I am very excited in trying this blend. I’m still waiting for it’s long 7 minute steep (taken from Davids Tea website) but so far it has taken a lovely pink tone that does look like watermelon juice.

The raw tea mix has a somewhat appley fragrance which was unexpected. Once brewed it smells like watermelon…as if by magic it truly does. It has the same watery, weak yet sweet fragrance that watermelon has.

Wowsers! WATERMELON!!! It tastes like warm watermelon juice. It’s mild and weak and I wish it was a little stronger but it has the same fresh juiciness you would expect from watermelon. It does have an edge of fruitiness behind it..a sort of sweet and sour apple cocktail. Reading the ingredients list I would never guess it contained carrot or beetroot but I suppose they help to keep it sweet.

It’s a very nice blend and it is watermelon like but I was hoping it would be a little stronger. I think this would be tastier as an iced tea with lots of crushed ice and small watermelon pieces for extra flavour. A good effort though :)

Steeping my last sample of this beautiful tea. I bow down before you Luscious Watermelon and vow never forget your sweet watermelon taste.

Once again thank you Kittenna for introducing this tea into my life. :)

I tried an iced sample of this in the NYC Bleecker store. It was a little watered down, but it did taste exactly like fruity, juicy, watermelon. I was surprised how much it tasted like watermelon. There’s no doubt that’s what it was. An expertly crafted iced tea.

By the way, the staff in this store is AMAZING!! So knowledgeable and soooo nice! I was blown away. It was definitely a highlight of my trip, and I’m very happy I decided to go. Plus, I got the best glass, double walled tumbler with infuser and bamboo lid. Yipee!!!

This tea smells amazing – like watermelon gummies or candies. It made me want to eat the tea right out of the pouch, but I managed to restrain myself. ;) Interestingly, when I added the water I started smelling apples as well.

For once, this tea tastes as good as it smells, I was dreading hibiscus, but it looks like my fears are unfounded as if there’s any in the blend I can’t taste it. The flavours are fruity and sweet – like watermelon but there are also other fruits in there – honeydew melon and apples are the ones I can most readily pick out. Ladies and gents, I think this tea is a winner.

What? I swore I already reviewed this one.
I’m obsessed with watermelon. But artificially watermelon flavored things, nope. I always give away the watermelon flavored jolly ranchers. I like the apple ones, and speaking of that I’ve heard that’s what David’s new Apple Pie tea tastes like, so I’m definitely going to have to order that.
I’m also totally stocking up on this tea before it’s gone. It’s different than anything artificially watermelon flavored I’ve ever had. It’s awesome. It reminds me of watermelon juice.. but better. Not to mention it’s the perfect watermelon reddish pink color. Love it!

Sitting on my kitchen floor drinking this.
I just spent the night making a delicious soup and chocolate chip muffins.
And then I collapsed on the floor. And I am sitting here chatting via interwebz and drinking my beloved Luscious Watermelon iced tea.
I am too tired to move. Someone bring me a pillow? zzZzZZZZZZzZzzzzz

Made another cup of this just to make sure I want to buy a lifetime supply before it’s sold out.
Yep. Still freaking amazing. Off to purchase a lifetime supply.
Hopefully the box it’s sent out in will be big enough for me to live in.

I absolutely love this iced with sugar. I bought the biggest size but if it’s still in stock tomorrow I’m seriously going to buy as much as I can. I’m a watermelon freak.

Made a BIG pitcher of this today. :D Almost out of my first 250g bag! Oh noes.

Normally whenever I see watermelon-flavoured or -scented anything, I slowly back away. Remind me again how artificial watermelon tastes and smells anything like the actual melon?

But this is an exception. It smells like fruit juice, mostly watermelon with a hint of strawberry in the background. It smells like a watermelon slice to the power of 27.

As soon as I take a sip and the tea hits my taste buds, it reminds me of biting into a fresh watermelon slice, but a split second later, even more flavours burst out. It’s ultra melon-y and the strawberry comes out too. And not overwhelmingly sweet either. Why would anyone want to drink juice packed with sugar and calories when you can just have this instead?

Way to be, DT. I wouldn’t mind having more of this.

Erin

Due to forgetfulness I let this cold-steep for a little over 24 hours.
Oh… my… goddd
This is amaaaaazing. It is incredibly sweet without having to add anything to it, and I usually don’t like watermelon but the watermelon taste really comes through here and I don’t know, it’s just amazing. Perfect for summer cause it’s so refreshing and fruity and did I mention amazing.
Also this is the first tea with beetroot in it that hasn’t bothered me! Maybe it’s because it’s iced?? I can’t pick it up at all! Yayy!
Brb, going to buy a huge tin of this.

It’s like you’re drinking juice! This is great fruity tea that I look forward to buying when it comes back in season! Dehydrated watermelon is amazing and its really nice in tea. My only issues with the tea is that it has a slightly tangy after taste. This could be because the sales girl admittedly told me that she ate the watermelon pieces all the time from the tin when she was working. I think I’m going to order this online and maybe I’ll have a fair amount of watermelon pieces? I only had a few in the bag that I bought (50 g).

Sipdown!
I cold brewed the last of this, probably stale at this point as it was from back in the day when DT used teal sticky labels on their bags and included a cute description rather than ingredients, haha.

It’s good! A nice, refreshing, caffeine free option. Especially given the lovely weather here in NB lately.

Can you sweeten cold tea? No, right? I wanted to. It was missing a little something something. I added some raspberries and lemon juice to whiz it up. Maybe lime juice next time.
I will buy more when/if they re-release it :)

Once I finished steeping this, I knew I didn’t want to have it hot. Something about hot watermelon didn’t sit right with me. So I threw it in a tumbler and chilled it. When I took my first sip, it wasn’t tasting like watermelon, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. So my 3 year old son came over and asked if he could try some. He took a sip and said “Mommy, that tastes like bananas”. Then it clicked, I took another sip, and bam! there it was. It DOES taste like bananas, not real bananas though, like banana flavored Runts (you know those little candies you used to get out of the machine in the grocery store?)
Overall, it was good, but I don’t think it would be something I would purchase.

Not quite what I expected, but should be good iced. Definitely melony (but I want more!!!) Full review later.

Another cold-brew of this one, yum. It was feeling ok on the sore throat until I hit the bottom, where there were some particles that came through the bombilla, and now I keep trying to clear them out of my throat…. bleh.

I hate that I can’t even really do any sipdowns today because I suspect I’m not 100% in the tasting dep’t at the moment, and so it would just be a waste….

I’m making fabulous progress on cold-brewing teas! I think my previous problem used to be the hassle of filtering everything, and then it would no longer be cold but lukewarm, etc. etc. And now with my bombilla, I get to drink icy cold deliciousness straight from the fridge whenever I want it! I’m actually just leaving my bombilla in a cup in there so I can have a sip whenever I want. Such a great purchase.

Anyways! Cold-brewed this one strong a couple nights ago, drank it last night/this morning. Quite tasty. A bit sweet, a bit tart, and kind of melony. I’d consider restocking it for iced tea in the future, although of course I have way too many other cold-brewing options to really pick up more.

10g of this one cold-steeped in about 2 cups worth of water worked well; I was pleased. Same cost as Tropicalia, so rather expensive, but I don’t think that will change my mind about picking more up to tide me through the off-season.

Cold-steeped this one last night as well. It’s pretty tasty and refreshing as well; honeydew and watermelon with a side of cucumber, perhaps. I think it could be better, but it will be good for cold-steeping this summer, so I think I’ll end up with a tin of it :)

Sipdown! 791.

Finally got through the last of what had been cold-brewing in the fridge for a few days. Yum. Definitely would consider picking this up again for cold brews, although I think I may use so much tea for my cold-brewing to make it rather expensive. Oh well!

Cold-steeped overnight, the perfect thirst-quencher. I probably used too much tea to make this worthwhile, but it’s tasty, and I’ve already spent the money, so I’m going to enjoy it, darnit!

I am seriously suffering from the “too-hot-to-drink-hot-tea” thing right now, and it’s not even that bad here. Also, I haven’t had much time to be making tea lately, because perfect boy (still no hope, sigh.) and I have been exchanging really long emails that take me forever to write. Oh, I’m silly…

After my sorry experience with Goji Pop, and my amazing experience with the ten ren’s watermelon, well I couldn’t help but try some of this!
It was ok… better than the goji, but not by much. Melons (except water) tend to taste fake to me, so I figured this one might, but I had also hoped that the watermelon would be stronger in flavour and that I might get some of the grain. no such luck. *sighs
(no surprise on that one though, I had to use a bag this time)
Next time, I’ll try it iced!
Even teas that are meant to be iced, well I always try them hot first, just to see what it’s like. I’m a little stubborn that way :P
It was however, nice to sip on while working away at the computer on a Friday afternoon though… maybe I’ll make it my Friday tea!

I finally tried this one iced. It was rushed, I only let it sit in the fridge for half an hour and had to use ice cubes… No matter, the green melon still tastes fake to me. And the watermelon, well I dunno how I feel about the way it tastes when freeze-dried.
Refreshing yes. Tasty? somewhat. I’ll happily drink the last of it but shan’t be replacing it in my cupboard!
On a side note: I got a tattoo last night!!! On my hip, so nobody will ever really see it, but it’s there :)
I can’t wait til it heals!

So, I tried this again and added some agave in hopes that it would drown/balance out that fake taste that bothers me in this tea. I know it’s the honeydew that gets me…
and it was definitely better. Maybe next time I’ll try this iced. I forgot this time. Oops! :/
