Exotica

Fruit Herbal Blend by DAVIDsTEA

In a world of temptation, this tisane stands out. It’s a delicately spicy blend of lemongrass, red pepper, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, pineapple, orange peel and coconut. So exotic, so inviting, so warming. And as spring progresses into summer, you’ll find that it’s a refreshingly different iced tea. Try it with a touch of manuka honey for a truly exotic experience. Caffeine-free.

I love this and I often drink it when I want something caffeine-free. Regardless of the advertisement, the taste isn’t really strange – it is sweet and mildly spicey. I mostly taste coconut and cinnamon. Definitely worth the buy.

So this came in with the teas I ordered. It was a small sample but my oh my was it impressive. When I looked at the just the tea leaves I was impressed by the color and vibrance that it had.. and then when i finally made it.. I was taken in by surprised.
The fragrant almost silky taste took me by surprise. I feel in love with this Tea almost instantly and wished that i would have bought this sample instead of the tea that I have now. Not saying that the tea I own is bad.. but this one is by far better. The smell the taste. the flavor.. It is beautiful. I do recommend trying this one.. if you want something fruity and kinda earth at the same time..

So, this is one from my advent calendar from December that I didn’t try. There were a few that the day I was suppose to have them, I didn’t want to try them, so they have been hanging around since, just waiting and hoping that I’ll find them, and want to try them.
Anyway, so I finally tried this one and it lovely. I agree with a lot of the reviews I read so far about this one. The lemongrass definitely was the main flavour coming through on this tea. But at the same time, I love lemongrass, so I don’t mind. I can’t really pick up much on the other flavours though. Like said before, the lemongrass is the first and really only flavour that you taste. Although, there is a bit of a lovely, subtle zing to it too, that I’m enjoying.
I’m having this one without sugar, which is unsual for me. Normally I add sugar to most of my teas, but this one I didn’t think of it, and I’m glad I didn’t. It’s so lovely on its own. Now I’m going to have some Three Lemon Green again, just to see how they compare.

This hit the spot on a nice winter afternoon while doing some reading. I found the blend to be nice and soothing, and left me with a pleasant aftertaste. As far as complexity, in comparison to Forever Nuts, this one feels a little plain. Still enjoyable nonetheless, and I would love to have another cup of it at some point to get more of the undertones. Fans of chai or coconut should look into this.

At first, I felt like I was drinking thai fried rice because of the predominant ingredient lemongrass. Supposedly, lemongrass is good for stomach ailments or head aches. Didn’t really notice it helped much in those regards, but it tasted pleasant nonetheless.

In fact, if you like thai food or fragrances, this tea can be brewed with rice and spices if you crave a milder version of thai rice.

Exotica is more a tangy tea with hints of nuttiness and would go great combined with a straight green tea.

Would I buy again? Probably not. Would I suggest it? Hmm…not necessarily.

I only had a sample of this in the store… but from what I did have, this tea is amazing!!!! it tasted like Thai food, which I LOVE. Spicy and sweet, slightly floral…
Very tempting to buy some…. mmmmm
Sorry I can’t say more. I really didn’t have time to suss out all the finer points. One day I will rewrite this review :)

So for the last little while I’ve been relying heavily on my herbals. They really aren’t the same as my camellia sinensis teas but this one, well this one is special! It doesn’t give me that good tea glow afterwards but I do have a few moments of pure tea bliss when first sipping it and then some very satisfying ones after!
The nutty, spicy, coconutty flavours gel so well together I can hardly tell where one ends and the other begins.
Ok, well except for the nut part, I can definitely see that, but otherwise it’s seamless!
I think I may even buy some more once my caffeine free days are over.
Oh, one other thing- I’ve been having trouble finding the right time to have this one regularly. If you drink certain teas at certain times… this is a tricky one.
I feel odd drinking a savoury tea like this before bed, or with dinner and it’s just as wrong somehow as a morning tea. Right after lunch is the worst- when I’ve just eaten so I’m full but the tea makes me think of thai food so… yeah that doesn’t work! There is a midmorning period where I find it’s ok. shrugs

What has gotten into me today?! After that terrible experience with this morning’s tea, I could not stop thinking about a hot cuppa EXOTICA. and it was epic :)
It tastes like Thai food. SO good. (spicy, nutty, cinnamony yumminess)
Mind you, I highly suspect this is one that I will have to crave before making a cuppa… not like many of my other teas that I reach for regularly. Also, I’m still a tad unwell so who knows if that made things taste differently? I mean I did see cloves in the ingredients (ick).

I think this is the best tea I’ve had from Davids so far. A good tea for me doesn’t go bitter if it’s steeped for too long. That way I can have a big tea pot of it, or keep it in my travel mug. I resteepted this one three times over the weekend and it was still good each time. I’ll definitely be going back to get a tin of this stuff!

Not bad. Lemongrass and cardamom are the two dominant tastes here, with something almost sickly sweet hiding in the background – not sure if it’s the coconut or the pineapple. Thought it was licorice at first. There’s a tickle of clove in the aftertaste. It threw me off at first because it brews almost clear, I hadn’t thought it brewed at all. Four minutes and it’s quite strong.

Received this as a free sample with an order.

Not really an herbal tea fan, as I tend to like the TEA! punch in the face that a good black provides, but considering my bias against herbal, I was pleasantly surprised. It’s oddly spicy and oddly sweet, and has a very complex variety of flavors that somehow works despite how far my eyebrow raised when reading the ingredients that went into this tea.

I probably won’t purchase it on purpose, but if a friend has it or if I receive another sample, I won’t say no. :)

So as soon as I heard about David’s new mug, purple with a gold elephant on it, I had to have it. I decided the purple elephants on my white David’s mug needed a friend, so I went out and got it on Wednesday after work.

While I was there I bought a few tins, 100g of Cream of earl grey, and 20g of this. I forgot to order Citrus Dream on my last Butiki order so I bought a b it of this to tide me over until my next.

It’s less complex than I remembered, but it has that sweet lemon taste that I remembered so that’s good. Not sure if I need to adjust the parameters or if it’s because of the horrible Thursday I had that’s at fault :( I’ll try this again tonight.

Either way though, this is a pretty good tisane, and is fulfilling the need for an herbal for a little while.

This is one of my favourite teas from Davids Tea. I love the smell, and the taste follows through. The combination of spices and lemongrass is unusual, but works really well.

I enjoy this straight up or with a touch of agave.

This tea reminds me so much of lemon sugar cookies! Soft and sweet. Doesn’t need anything to add to it. Really super pleasant. Its tropical without being over the top, if you understand. Although I think it is supposed to be more of a tropical taste, it reminds me much more of Christmas.

Nice! With all these spicy combination and the perfect flavour of the lemongrass it’s like a sweet and sour lemon flavour, almost a hot spicy lemonade. Kind of hard to explain. It’s just this tart and sweet fruity lemon tea, a great addition to any tea collection. Just don;t steep it too long or the lemon takes over!

Another tea I tried courtesy of the advent calendar. Unfortunately, not a favourite, although I’m wondering if the sample size of the tea perhaps affected its flavour to some degree as I don’t recall seeing cloves or pineapple in the last batch. I remember liking it alright back in December when my roommate and I compared a bunch of teas one evening, but the last pot of it we shared last night tasted strongly of warm lemongrass, a bit spicy, and that’s about it. Not likely to give this one another shot though, since although I love lemongrass as a flavouring in food, I don’t think it suits me in tea.

I got a sample of this when I ordered Swampwater. It’s a very light coloured tea, which makes me wonder how it will taste. I am glad I got it as a sample. I am not a fan of it. In my opinion it does not have much flavour to it.
