From DAVIDsTEA

So seductive

Incredible as it seems, each of these pearls was hand-rolled. It’s a tradition that began over 1300 years ago, when a Chinese emperor wanted to give an original gift of love. Made from green tea scented with blooming jasmine flowers, they are perfect little gems. When you infuse them in hot water, they will release the most intensely beautiful scent as they slowly unravel and come to life. (MK Kosher)

Ingredients: Chinese green tea from Zhejiang Province, scented with jasmine flowers.

RAWR! I imagine myself drinking this tea with a DRAGON! Deliciously scented with jasmine for a gentle sweet green tea taste. I am in love with this tea!

Amazing. The smell blew me away in the store, and I bought my first full tin right then and there. I tried it earlier today and have already enjoyed four cups of the stuff. The smell is intoxicating, and the taste lives up to the smell. It’s like drinking a jasmine flower, which is very much up my alley.

My favourite green tea.
Amazing, you can taste the quality, and admire the beauty as the pearls unfold.
It has a somewhat salty, and earthy taste to it.
Very smooth and balanced.
It was somewhat bitter, but very interesting for a green tea.

Interesting = Dragon Pearls = Amazing.

Day 56 of my 101 days of DAVIDsTEA challenge.

My dad calls these “dragon balls,” to which I can’t help but giggle and think of tea leaves with little stars inside…. perhaps I should brew seven and make a wish on them sometime!

Geekiness aside, it was an interesting experience. I brewed around 1tsp in a clear cup, mostly in a tea ball, but I put three in the cup itself so I could watch them unfurl. It was a nice little show, I must say, though not as colourful as a blooming tea.

The taste… I’m not a fan of jasmine, but this was a lot better than I thought it would be. Not at all bitter when a shorter steep time is stuck to, and it’s still rebrewing quite nicely a few cups later (I save the tealeaves in the ball and have had a couple cups since). I plan to milk this teaball-full as long as I can before getting rid of them!

OK so this tea looks pretty scary when its steeping – like a bunch of dead spiders in the bottom of your cup…BUT give it a chance because it’s a really solid jasmine green tea!

I splurged and bought some dragon pears as jasmine is my favourite tea of all time. I was a bit disappointed. I found it wonderfully sweet and very light, which I’m sure would please a lot of people. I tend to like my teas on the bitter side, so the sweetness was just not to my liking. However, it was probably one of the best cups of tea I’ve ever had, just not one for everyday drinking.

I also bought some rose petals and added them to the pearls….was lovely.

I’m not a big fan of green tea to begin with, but I really do not like jasmine. So put that together and it’s just terrible. However, I suspect if you like green tea with jasmine, you will find it pleasant, so I would conditionally recommend it.

i wanted to try this tea because i really enjoyed the silk dragon jasmine. I had asked for 25 grams and the guy working asked if 30 was ok, and he said that with that tea 25 would only make 1 or 2 cups. I’m not sure what he was talking about because i only used a little over half of one of their measuring spoons for my cup, and it was perfect, plus i resteeped it! 25 grams is plenty!
This tea is late spring/early summer in a cup!

Nabbed a cup of this one on the way home from Job #1.

I typically don’t mind Dragon Pearls; they’re usually pretty smooth and I’ve had some nice offerings from other companies. It may be because they were the first pearls I ever tried, but Teavivre’s always seem to stick out in my mind. I don’t know why I’ve never tried DT’s version prior to now…

I liked them overall though – really I can’t think of any complaints about the cup. It was smooth with a silky mouthfeel, sweet jasmine and peach notes, and just a nice faint vegetal/grassy profile from the green tea. Really light bodied, but still with impactful flavour notes.

Now that I’ve tried all three of our green jasmine teas; I think I can see with confidence that these were my favourite. The Silk Dragon Jasmine is my least favourite; it’s just choppy and kind of artificial tasting. The Butteryfly Jasmine is really cool and definitely doesn’t taste bad; but I think I can get pretty well the same quality of flavour from this tea, and at a better price per gram. So this is my winner.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

The pearls are my favorite version in general. There’s only one jasmine oolong that’s ever compared.

This tea was very fragrant, I rather liked the scent. The tea itself was rather plain. You could definitely taste floral notes within the tea but the scent of the leaf and the brew itself was the real show stopper. P.S Brewed at 175 F not 170 F.
