Silk Dragon Jasmine (organic)

Green Tea by DAVIDsTEA

A magical scent

Made from premium green tea, our Silk Dragon is a limited-edition treasure. To create it, night-blooming jasmine is gathered in the morning and kept cool all day. In the evening, when the flowers burst open and release their scent, they are placed with the tea until midnight. This is repeated with fresh flowers over the course of five nights, infusing the tea with a most magical flavour.

I got this as a sample, and I’m not usually a fan of jasmine greens. I figured I’d at least try it.

Nothing stands out about it. It really does just taste like something very average. Though maybe after having other jasmine greens, this would never stand a chance by price or by taste.

It’s not horrible considering I was able to finish it and not dump it out due to tasting like liquid flowers, but it’s just kind of flat. The base green tea is hard to taste over the jasmine for me, and that’s just from 2 minute steep.

Continuing on the finishing of samples, this one is out.

I don’t really like this at all. It’s WAY too strongly jasmine to the point it just completely overpowers the green tea. I couldn’t even drink it hot…okay I fell asleep because I had taken medicine.

Now I’m trying to drink it cold and it’s better, it just tastes way too much like I’m drinking flowers and now that I’m aware of other jasmine greens, I know that’s really not how it’s supposed to be.

Sipdown, 173. I got samples of this from I think multiple people (who were not fans of jasmine and trying to get rid of it I think), though I can’t remember from whom. Sorry, swap parterners, and thanks for the samples. I powered through two sample packets of this that I’ve had for a while by cold steeping one then doing a couple successive cups of the second packet. Single day sipdown, woot.

Either hot or cold, this was kind of meh. Cold it was a touch too strong, particularly in the green tea part. Hot, it was flat and uninteresting. The jasmine was marginally there, but it mostly tasted like a boring green tea. I see now that I’m not the only one that has felt this way. This was drinkable, but I wouldn’t have another cup of it. Even part way through the second cup I was over it.

I got this as a sample with an order a long time ago.
Smells like strong jasmine.
Thankfully, it does not taste as strong. It is not overy perfumed, but it does have that silky mouthfeel. This is not as sweet as other jasmines I have had. I kind of like that this jasmine is more suble in flavour.
Resteep: 4minutes, 85degrees, tastes quite similar to the first steep, slightly weaker
I like this but I don’t think I will restock, there are better jasmines out there.

jasmine is nice once in a while. i’m not a fangirl about it or anything.
i bet when my sister moves in she’ll help me drink this down, which is good.

This one has a nice fragrant scent. Very jasmine. The taste is quite nice. This is my first jasmine green tea I believe and I’m really enjoying it. Light base green tea with slightly more than a hint of jasmine.

This is very… average. I feel as though it tastes the same as the Jasmine Dragon Pearls from Teavana. If I compared the two side-by-side, I’d probably notice a difference, but there’s really nothing remarkable about this tea.
It’s fairly heavily scented with jasmine which gives it a drier sort of mouthfeel. The green tea is sweet underneath, and it blends well.
It’s just nothing new.

EDIT: I like it a lot better on a second steeping. Maybe it’s because the water’s cooler, or maybe because it’s not as strong… I really don’t know what the temp/time was, since I just let it sit while I picked up a few chores. But it tastes sweeter and clearer now. I’m enjoying this cup. I probably won’t buy it again, but at least I have a ballpark idea of how to brew better tea.

Green Tea – Jasmine Style just about sums this one up. Not bad…but not my favorite either…

I drank this before but never noted it in here. Now I’m trying it again, I am a sucker for jasmine teas. I put this in an airtight tin but when I opened it it seemed rather stale. There wasn’t any sort of aroma, no tea scent, no jasmine scent. But it can’t be stale, I just bought this a few weeks ago. So, I brew it up and i get an aroma, but not one I was hoping for. The wet leaves smells like jasmine, but artificial jasmine, and I’m still not getting the green tea base. I take a few sips, not bad. The jasmine is mellow and not as artificial tasting. The green tea is there, definitely not premium, and it has a slight astringency. This isn’t a bad jasmine, it’s nice, but not $7 for 50 grams. I feel like you could easily find similar quality to this in the grocery store. Not bad, but not exactly premium either.

So I got this for the $1 straight tea deal,
at first it didn’t taste any different than the Shopper’s Drugmart life brand tea bags I have… and it was overbrewed because I wanted to keep the bag in my cup when I walked back to work.. which was of course like a 5 minute+ walk, teagods forbid..
and whoof it was syruppy jasmine suuuper strong from the overbrew.

But I couldn’t stop sipping it. And it made my tummy feel really really good. And.. I just couldn’t stop. Something about this tea… I don’t know if I can rate it until I (ever) try it again

i had a package to send to someone this afternoon and found myself needing one more tin to package a sample in. oh no, i guess i have to drink a pot of silk dragon jasmine while soaking in the tub. darnit.

This was my first cup on my first day back in the store after Christmas. I was underslept and grumpy after spending 10 hours on a bus. This tea never fails to cheer me up!

Meh. I’m trying to think of something awesomely clever to say about this one, but all that’s coming to mind is…meh. I just got my steeper in the mail, and this was one of the samples that came with it. It’s not bad, it just doesn’t strike me as all that great either. It’s green tea and jasmine, nothing extraordinary here.

This sample was sent to me by ThePurrfectCup. Many thanks!

I made this a little on the weak side, mostly because I was being greedy and wanted a bigger pot than the sample was supposed to make. That didn’t matter, though, this is lovely just as it is! The green tea base is mild and smooth, and leans toward the grassy rather than the buttery side. The jasmine is just right for me. The first jasmine I ever had was horrific so I thought I didn’t like jasmine. Thank goodness I tried other kind because now I find them soothing and oh so good. This is a very good one. Quite nice! Thank you!

This type of green tea is my absolute favorite. I decided to get this instead of the two other options from David’s: Butterfly Jasmine and Dragon Pearls. This is a bit cheaper, and I have faith that it still tastes good. Besides, unless I am brewing those in a glass teapot I can’t see it unfurl. Hence why I picked this tea over the other two, because I don’t mind if it doesn’t look fancy.

Anyways, this didn’t disappoint me. I like it because it takes green tea (which is enjoyable by itself) and adds a nice floral taste to it (not too little, not too much). I’m normally not a fan of flowers and tea, especially rose and lavender. But I love the smell of jasmine and it tastes fantastic with green tea. To me, this is not a “refreshing” tea its a relaxing tea.

In the future, I may buy a small pouch (25g) of the Butterfly Jasmine just to discover if it tastes much different. When I run out of Silk Dragon Jasmine tea I will most certainly refill my tin. Like I said earlier, this type is one of my favorites and it is going to stay in my permanent collection.

1yr reflection: Wow I can’t believe I liked this one so much… because it’s not that good. Removed rating

I really love this tea. Bought it this summer. My fave way to drink it?? as a latte, which is what I did today. This is how I tried this tea the first time, so maybe that’s why I love it so much. Really my go-to latte drink when I’m at home.

Had this as a latte today! Great way to start my day. I steeped it to be slightly stronger today… delicious. I just love this tea. Recently went and bought a tin of it.

This morning I did the classic milk concoction with this tea. I don’t know why I love this one so much with milk. It made my morning a good one:)

I received this tea as a sample. When I first opened the pouch, the I was a little surprised at the strength of the jasmine. Then again, I hadn’t had jasmine tea in a while. I was on an oolong kick (and still am). However, as I sip this tea, it brings back a sense of nostalgia. I grew up in a tea drinking family and jasmine green tea was an early favorite. It’s like finding an old teddy bear.

As for the quality of the tea, it is very smooth with a slight bitterness. Generally, I don’t like bitter, but jasmine scented greens wouldn’t taste right without the bitter note. And though this is not the highest quality tea out there, it is very good. It lacks the astringent harshness that lesser leaves tend to deliver.

I am very pleased with this tea and will probably gladly order more if I ever get through all the other teas in my cabinet. My husband has banned me from ordering more tea since I’ve got enough to last several years. :( I think I need to do some tea swaps…

Wow. This is exactly what I was looking for in a green tea. Lots of nice green flavour without being bitter. I even oversteeped this due to the afternoon nap battle with my 2 year old and it was still great. Nice light colour and wonderful flavour. When I bought it yesterday I was looking for a fairly plain green tea and I have found it for sure.

Some people say that this tea isn’t premium enough, well it doesn’t exactly come with luxury price tag either. I am not very educated when it comes to Jasmine teas but I like this one and I couldn’t possibly compare it to generic store brand. Also, I love the slight bitterness in it in fact (but I never use boiling water for greens so maybe we’re talking about different levels of bitterness). It resteeps well, Jasmine notes complement the tea used very well, I think it’s a great combination.

This is only the second jasmine tea I’ve ever tasted, and I’m beginning to realize I don’t think I like them very much. The confusion between the floral scent and the green tea taste is too much for my brain, it does not understand. This tea smells strongly of jasmine in the bag, and a little less strong after steeping. The taste is all green tea, and a mediocre one at that. This tea isn’t calling out to me to try again, and will probably be passed on to someone else. It can be steeped again, and tastes similar on the second and third steeping, which is interesting for a green tea.

Meh. For the price and the hype I expected a far more impressive jasmine than what I tasted. The smell is quite nice, it’s that borderline sugar cookie smell that jasmine perfumes sometimes get (which I like), but the taste was bland. So, basically, not the worst jasmine tea I’ve ever tasted, but nowhere near the best. The search continues.

I am surprised to find that I don’t quite like this as much as Teaopia’s Jasmine Superior. The jasmine in this version is sweeter, but there are little to no flowers in this pouch. I also like being punched in the face with flavour, and the jasmine in this blend barely smacks my cheek. It’s quite faint and barely lasts two short steeps. I’ll finish the pouch, but this won’t be my permanent jasmine green.

I’m struggling to finish the last few cups left of this tea. I LOVE jasmine and green tea, but there is just something up with this blend that is not impressing me at all. This is the first jasmine green I’ve tried that tastes like soap. Do not want. There are so many better kinds of jasmine green out there. DT, you can’t be perfect; I still love you though.
