Elf Help

Fruit Green Blend by DAVIDsTEA

Productively festive
Sweet and fruity with a dash of nutty flavour, this green tea is the saviour of elves everywhere. When they’re building to deadline in the workshop, they crave a drink that’s like dessert with a kick of energy. So we made a tea that tastes just like fruitcake in a mug. Add some brandy for the authentic cake experience – those tipsy elves always do.

This is such a FUN tea!!!! VERY colorful ingredients and highly scented!

I can taste the green tea, sure, but there is a fruit salad type quality to it that I just can’t shake! It’s VERY tasty! I’m SO THANKFUL there isn’t Hibiscus in this! Thanks DavidsTea!

Check out these ingredients!!!!!

Sencha green tea, orange peel, apple, papaya, raisins, barberries, freeze-dried cranberries, coconut

I can see them all and they are all awesome! The more I drink this the more I am enjoying it! It’s fruity without being TOO fruity on the tongue! This is a GREAT offering from DavidsTea!!!

I had a cup of this earlier and was unable to log on to steepster for about 3 hours. Glad it’s back up! This was tasty…see previous notes.

It’s bubblegum. Very fruity, but candy fruity. Orangey candy. I’ve found that I really don’t like the smell of apple pieces in tea. Thankfully, I couldn’t smell the apple in the final product.
I dunnoooo… I don’t really want to drink a tea that reminds me of bubblegum. I think can drink this and enjoy it, but it’s not really for me. I guess this is the point after a second date where you decide you just want to be friends.

Thanks to Sil for sending me this one :)

I’ve been eyeing this one of the David’s website for some time. I have discovered I love tea with cranberries so I wanted to try everything I could with cranberries, but I’m always hesitant to order 50g of something I’ve never actually tried.

This one smells like some sort of candy, though I can’t quite figure out which candy.

It has such a fascinating taste. I’m enjoying it, I think. There’s cranberries in there somewhere, and the orange peel (or perhaps the barberries?) must give it that little kick. I’m not sure what a barberry is, so I can’t comment on that. Overall an interesting tea. I’m so happy I got to try this one out, thanks again Sil!

Sipdown from the Advent Calendar!

This tea tastes so much like 52teas’ Virgin Fuzzy Navel green. It’s very citrusy, and I’d say peachy, with almost a fizzy taste. The sencha base comes out mostly in the aftertaste as kind of a caramelly flavour, which is pretty tasty. Overall, it’s not bad, but I don’t tend to be a huge fan of flavoured greens, so probably wouldn’t buy it again (although I think it may have been discontinued anyhow).

Way more sweet than I expected that’s for sure!

Tastes just like Rockets Candies to a T.
So much rocket candy that I don’t think I can drink more than one cup.. but that’s because I once ate way too many rockets. I can’t find my photo proof, but I’m talking… 8 cups of rockets in a one month period. Good ol’ University.

OK my buds are seriously messed!! I quite enjoyed this (for a sencha. I hate sencha) but I tasted MINT! fresh, springy, mint! There is no mint in the ingredients… so how is this possible hmm?? Some of the fruitiness came out as well though I can’t be sure what exactly I was tasting. and there was no nuttiness whatsoever :(
agh. Anyhow, I went for a second steeping and the sencha came out more. I was not a fan.
I can’t remember enjoying a green tea more, except dragonwell. No nausea… I guess the “fruit” masked it for me

Yum! This is really good! Thanks to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some!

This is quite sweet – almost candy-like in sweetness, but my sweet tooth happily approves. It is very fruity, but not so much that it overwhelms the sencha. Very tasty! YUMYUMYUMYUMYUM!

Finishing off the last of the sampling that TeaEqualsBliss sent to me. This is really good – sweet and fruity. Very enjoyable.

My morning was really festive with this tea while listening to a Traditional Irish song.
Here’s the song : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exDcam6hcv0
(I know it’s from Lord of the Rings, but I do love this soundtrack.)

For the tea? Well. Fruitcake in a mug? I wouldn’t say so.
I hate Fruitcake but i’m in love with this tea. :)

The nose [dried] : Full of orange with [candy] berries.
The nose [infused] : It smell like rocket candy.

The taste : First, there’s the orange tones which is really prominent.
Second, there’s lots of fruit tones. I can taste cranberry and berries.
The fruit here feel like artificial flavoring without being too much aggressive.
Finally? The sencha basis which conclude perfectly this unique and memorable blend!

Try it out and you’ll see what I mean :)

Sipdown # 3! I am trying to clear out my Davids stuff for the new teas this wednesday. It is getting crazy up in here, I’m going to do like 20 bags over the next 3 days. I won’t have any small samples left at that point.

This one is just ok for me. I really liked it initially, but it gets too bitter too quickly. Merry Cranberry is definitely sweeter and better. Maybe it is the orange but it just tastes like bitter green tea to me.

This didn’t really work for me.

It was on my list to try for a while, and Courtney sent me a sample last week. It was too sweet for me, and I think the overwhelming ingredient list was just too much. It wasn’t horrible, I still drank one cup and re-steeped it, and put the rest in the fridge to try cold… but I am definitely glad I didn’t order 50g.

Thanks for sharing, Courtney!

As usual with delicate teas, I liked it more and more as it cooled off. Right now it’s nearly ice-cold and I love it, whereas a few hours ago when it was hot, I didn’t care for it. I need to just stop trying to drink them hot.

As this was Day number #18 of our tea calendar, I asked the wife to brew it up since I have nothing but trouble with it. It was good, but still not something I’d ever seek out. It was light and fruity, I don’t think I’d call it ‘fruitcake in a mug’, though. Ah well, the wife likes it and that’s good enough for me!

While I normally drink my green tea organic, super strong and bitter, and with no additives I’m not usually a fan of venturing off into the flavoured green teas… until now. I have tried this tea twice from the Davids Tea shop and I have to say the second time I had it was a million times better than the first time. Its a perfect balance between a fruity tea and a green tea so is perfect if you’re in the mood for somewhere inbetween the two.

On a side note: has anyone else noticed that tea is never as good in those paper to-go cups you get at cafes and tea places vs. brewed in a mug? The only downfall to grabbing a tea from Davids when I’m out.

This tea is pretty hard to pass up when you get a whiff and see it in all its fun, fruity glory. I couldn’t place what it smelled like but knew I had to taste it.

It doesn’t exactly taste like Christmas to me, but I like when DavidsTea takes any excuse to release new teas. It is definitely bold, but it’s not out of control. It kind of tastes like a fruit punch and as bad as that sounds, it’s great. I don’t usually tend towards fruity teas (though DavidsTea has got me re-thinking that with several of their teas) but I enjoy this and don’t find that the flavours completely overpower the sencha. It’s a nice pick-me-up in the dreary early winter, and I’m glad I bought enough for several brewings.

Despite this being a Christmas tea, I’ve been thinking it would probably make a great iced tea.

It does. This is lovely. Sweet and just a touch tart to keep it nice and fresh-tasting.

Such a delightful little tea.

Also good to brew at work as I have little control (not a very good kettle, often have to run to answer the phone and forget about steeping). I actually dumped this into my Libre without thinking so it stayed in my glass as I drank and never got bitter or any less delicious.

This is delightful, fruity without being sour and I am so, so, so sad that we ran out and that its a seasonal tea! I really hope they bring it back next year. Its super enjoyable and I will definitely stock up!

I’m returning to this tea as I remember trying it a couple of months ago and not liking it so much… I’m glad I did, it’s way better than expected. It’s green and I think I must have overstepped the first time around cause all I could remember was it’s bitterness.

There’s a lot going on in this pouch with all these ingredients, but it all comes together, surprisingly. It’s very fruity but not in a super sweet kind of way, nice balance between sweet and citrus. The orange and cranberry definitely come through, especially on second steep. I bet it will make a very refreshing iced tea.

I’m glad I gave it a second chance, though it won’t be part of my permanent collection, it’s worth drinking the 25gr I have.

Mmmm. I haven’t actually tried this one yet. First trial of the variable-temperature kettle we got for Christmas, and the lowest setting seems perfect for greens. Did a short steep, which gave me a nice light flavour, not too overwhelmingly sweet. Lots of orangey goodness with a bit of tartness from the cranberries. A little too sweet for this late at night, but I was very pleasantly surprised by this one.

What more perfect tea to sip while playing cards with family and friends on a Christmas Eve after a long day’s hard work? It was sweet and light and tasted like Christmas, which is all I wanted tonight. Definitely warming up to it.

Steeped twice, second time got a lot more of the tart cranberry and it was delicious.

Oh Elf Help, I wanted to like you. Your taste improved dramatically when I ate some raspberries. But before that? You didn’t taste like much at all. You smell lovely, very fruity, and wonderful. If you tasted as wonderful as you smell, I’d be head over heels. Oh well. You were also, truth be told, competing for my attention with some very compelling knitting. And it is hard for any tea to compete with that, no matter how much I like a tea. You really did have no chance. Sorry, but I think we should go our separate ways. No hard feelings, okay?

Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to work I go….. la la la la, oh wait. Those are dwarfs, not elves. Lol. I already have a feeling today will be one of those days where there just isn’t enough time in the day. Ugh. Work, then school and copious amounts of school work. Bring on whatever help these little elves are planning to give me! I have a little bit of this tea left over from some Christmas tree ornaments I received as a gift that Davidstea was offering for a limited time around the holidays. Such a sweet birthday present they turned out to be. The verdict? It’s yummy.
The leaves look really pretty all unfolded in my handy steeper, and the tart and fruity flavour is wonderful. You can taste the berry more than anything else, but it doesn’t overpower the lightness of the green tea base. Leave it to berries to win me over to a green tea. :) I’m fine with the fact that it’s seasonal though.

After almost a year, I still can’t decide if I like this tea or not. One day I’ll only get through half a cup, the next time I’m almost craving a second. I drank it today to take a break from all my bagged teas, craving something green and flavoured. Got more coconut in this brew than I usually do and I liked it more. Maybe that’s the flavour that’s missing when I get a less-awesome cup? I’m going to have to watch it next time and figure this out! :D

Drank the last of this one from my collection today. I really enjoyed it when I first got it but the more I drank, the less and less I liked it. I hate when that happens with a tea! This time it just kept tasting more and more artificial with each cup. :(
