Why am I sick for the third time this semester? My immune system fails at life.

I’ve had this a few times already but kept putting off gathering my thoughts on it. The dry leaf is creamy and sweet, and it’s great to see some chopped macadamia nuts.

Make sure not to oversteep or overleaf this one because the mulberry leaves give off a dark leafy green flavour which covers up everything else. For me, I prefer this steeped for no longer than three minutes. The liquor can easily turn into a muddled green. Nothing wrong with that, but the more muddled the liquor looks, the more like dark leafy greens this is going to taste, understandably.

The flavours are matched very well. I can detect hints of cocoa butter and macadamia nuts. This is the type of herbal I would ideally reach for when I’d like to cut down on the caffeine. I DO prefer Gold Rush however, as the mulberries themselves unsurprisingly have a more favourable flavour profile, but the price is right on this one.

I didn’t have time to log this tea the first couple of times I had it, but when I first tried it I had no expectations. That is possibly why I enjoyed it so much? Sometimes I find it almost impossible for a tea to live up to some of the rave reviews.

This is another herbal (no caffeine) love for me that I can drink at any time.

I know nothing about mulberries, other than having tried a different Davids tea a while ago that contained some of the dried mulberries and eating one out of that pack. I made a cup of this tea for my Dad and step-mom, when they visited, and they said they enjoyed it. I drank it plain, and they both drank it with a touch of honey.

For some reason, this tea reminds me of Davids cookie dough tea, but I’m not sure why -they don’t have a single ingredient in common. They both have smooth light nutty tastes, and I was pleasantly surprised that this one doesn’t have the tartness that frequently accompanies berry teas.

This tea is a definite repurchase for me.

Thanks Pureleaf for this sample.

Dry smell: This tea smells wonderful. It has a slight hint of an orange oolong smell. The most dominant smell is that of cherry and chocolate. It smells EXACTLY like the cherry hershey kisses they sell around christmas. It’s a very sweet very deep smell.

Wet smell: This still has the deep cherry chocolate hershey kisses smell

Taste: This tea is really sweet. It has a creamy taste but it’s not the chocolate flavor that I smelled. I can taste a fruitiness that reminds me of how some liquors smell. It is very syrupy. Overall a pretty good tea but it is a little too sweet and fruity for me

Who knew Mulberry leaves tasted so good? It has a slight Oolong way about it… there is vegetal flavor yet smooth and sweet. Maybe it has something do with me drinking so much Oolong lately. haha. Either way, this is very good. I’m putting the 2nd steeping in the fridge tonight and I’ll have it tomorrow with lunch. Some of the taste notes spoke highly of this one iced. Thanks Azzrian for sharing this herbal with me. I’ve added it to my DAVIDsTEA wish list.

Wow that was unexpected. Got a sample of this from Krystaleyn and tucked it away for several days. Just brewed it up tonight. It went RIGHT onto my shopping list.
This is the first Davids Tea that has totally wowed me and taken me by surprise.

Ironically I just started a diet AND just got done after a shower putting this wonderful soy oil in my hair for shine and repair. I then decided I had not had a David’s Tea in a while and I grabbed this one out of a box. Lo and Behold I totally forgot all about this being “slimming” and “good for hair” and whatever all that jazz said but I love the irony and coincidence of it all.
Still really enjoying this blend.

Good GOD this is good tea. That is all.

Still love this stuff! Still my favorite from David’s Tea!
Thank you AGAIN Krystaleyn for sending me MORE of this!
Soon I will make my own David’s order and get my own lol

Holy Nuts Extreme!!!
Dry: The leaves are curled this way n that… and are feral, vintagey, and smell like sweet leaves n nuts.
Wet: The leaves are fully uncurled, expansive, and green. and veiny.
The first brew is somewhat thick and intensely nutty, and behind that, strongly vegetal. There is a sweetness there too but it comes out more in the second steep (incredibly so in the finish) where the liquid comes out much lighter and more delicate.
Next time, I’ll try a shorter steep time on the first infusion so that the two are more balanced!
As for rebuying this one, I’m not so sure. This is satisfying, but not something I see myself craving.

Thank you Emily M for a sample of this. What a surprisingly yummy treat! This is definitely going on my list next time I make a David’s order. Perfect for after dinner. Thanks again Emily!

I was really looking forward to trying this tea, as I’m still searching for a perfect evening tea. The dry leaf smelled sweet and nutty. How can anyone not like that? Once steeped, I was a little taken aback by how green the tea was! It’s dark green! Okay, so I’m sure there are other teas that are dark green, but I’ve not had any. The green teas I’ve had we’re actually more yellow. Anyway, it was VERY GREEN. After one sip I decided to add sugar. I do have a sweet tooth! The taste at first was a little different than what I’m used to, but as I continued to sip, I started to like it more. It is sweet and nutty, but I think the fact that it’s mulberry leaves and not traditional tea leaves is throwing me off. I reserve full judgement until my next cup! ;)

Apparently I never reviewed this tea when hot, even though I’ve had it plenty. Every time I smell the dry leaves, it smells like Bailey’s to me. It never quite tastes like that though.

I cold brewed this one, and it seemed to bring out the flavors better, and seemed closer to the smell. Another one that I probably prefer cold.

Thankfully I only have a little bit of this tea. I’m drinking it hot brewed and poured over ice, and there’s a terrible bitter nut skin flavour. Ick.

I’ll have to try it hot, but I’m not so sure about this. Too bad, as it smells delicious and nutty. I really wanted to like it.

(This nut skin taste is a recurring theme in nut flavoured/nut containing teas. Mostly walnuts and pecans, but apparently also macadamia. No problems with almonds or pistachios yet.)

This is so much better hot than hot-brewed-and-iced. Still not a staple like this for me.

I have enough to try cold brewing. Fingers crossed.

Bought this one as Mulberry Monster (BoOoOOo, Halloween special packaging) … and I liked it!
It is one of the nuttiest (naughtiest?) teas I’ve ever bought, and it goes right into my list of ‘’the greats’’ from Davids. Mulberry leaves though? Why is this so good?

Geekery: Mulberry leaves are used to treat diabetes type 2 as they have a reducing effect on blood glucose and serum lipids.

Diabetic or not if you like macadamia white-chocolate things and a bit of a vegetal wrap-around, this is it. I’m a bit late to the party but I’m suuuuper glad I got this.

I wasn’t interested in this tea.
Like not even a little.
Mulberry Magic? There is nothing about that name that thrills me.
But it was the tea of the day today with Carrot Cake (which I was hoping was in the little shot glass I was handed) so I tried it.
YUMMY YUM! I couldn’t quite identify the taste, but when the girl behind the counter at the David’s in Polo Park said, “Cake batter,” that was 100 percent correct. I had baked a cake less than 24 hours prior — a fluffy from-scratch yellow cake to make my daughter’s 2-year birthday cake — and that was totally the taste I was getting.
I was there to buy Forever Nuts and Pumpkin Chai and accidentally also walked out with 50g of Mulberry Magic.
Now it’s on my terms. Steeped a touch heavy (a little over 1/2 Tbsp for my 12oz mug), but since I enjoyed it so much in the store, I will be drinking it naked.
I want to stick my finger in the steeper and lick that flavour off. It smells like it should be thick, dripping and contain raw eggs. (Those are all good characteristics.) The tea, too, smells like it will be shocking to drink a liquid instead of a batter.

Ooh, it tastes way different at home. It’s a little hotter and a little heavier. And it tastes like booze! As a pregnant lady, I really appreciate that. It tastes like some fancy after-dinner drink in a fancy restaurant where you’d be all, “Wow, this is delicious. I think I’ll make this at home for guests,” but you never do. THIS I would serve to guests.
I can see craving this around Christmas. And I can see making this Christmas morning to open presents.
So delish.

Time to get to work on a chilly afternoon and I’m feeling like I need something warm in my belly, so Mulberry Magic, I choose you! I’m also in a kind of zen mood today because I finally heart my baby’s heartbeat again (after 6 weeks between appointments) which settled down my inherent worry-wortness.
I nailed the smell of the dry tea: those little liqueur chocolates that you get at Christmas! It smells exactly, EXACTLY like those. And again, it has the unmistakable yellow cake batter flavour that just fills your mouth and makes you think of licking beaters while an oven set to 350 bakes your delicious, delicious treats. Now that Canadian Thanksgiving is done, all I can think about is Christmas (and how I can get away with not hosting any of the festivities…) I think I’ll be buying several tins of this as gifts for people.
Or maybe I’ll just buy several tins of it as “gifts for people” and then drink them all myself.

The leaves of this smell like sweet powdered milk – I like the nuttiness of the macadamia nuts.
Brewed it is so nutty. It smells incredible – really more like a desert than a tea.
The flavor of this is really nice – it’s a very sippable tea with a nice full body. The nuttiness is more of an aftertaste. The main flavor of the tea is smooth and subtle – I’ve never had mulberry leaves so I can’t really comment here except to say that I like it. It’s a relaxing, smooth, nutty cup.

Tea of the evening…..

And tea 16 of 24. This one was from swapping with aisling of tea. (Thank you!) I was hesitant to try it when I got it because David’s was out of stock at the time, and I hate trying something, liking it, and then being unable to get more. I am getting over that, now, and know each cup is meant to be savored in the moment, but it took me a little bit in my tea journey to get here. And I do think this one might be coming back? (Yes, it did!)

Anyway, the infusion is light, sweet and somewhat nutty. I am amazed at how good it is for something that seems so simple. I have enough for a few more cups, so it might be something I will try in larger amounts. The jury is still out, but if it does what David’s suggests it does ("Health freaks say they stabilize your blood sugar, curbing carb cravings and mood swings. ") I definitely would like some of that!

1 tsp in a cup, boiling water for 6 minutes. Straight up!

Tastes very herbal and earthy. But the flavoring is strong and it tastes like cake. Nutty vanilla cake. I actually find the herbal flavor pleasant. The fact that it tastes like cake on top of that is awesome. I keep finding things I love from DT. I also love that it’s caffeine free. I need to get more of this.

I’m not sure why I am so nervous to be trying this tea. I opened up the pouch and it didn’t smell like I expected it to. It might be the nuts or the flavoring that make it a little strange, but it didn’t smell all that delicious. Once steeped, the tea smells like leaves and vanilla cake.

Sipping… oh, this is interesting! It tastes very much like white chocolate. That flavor doesn’t linger for the entire sip, however. It has a very leafy taste that is just as strong as the initial sweetness. It’s not the same kind of leafy flavor from something like an oolong, for example… I can’t really describe it. This is one of the most unique teas I’ve tried. A bit part of me wants to like this tea more since it doesn’t really have anything I don’t like… but the more I sip, the more I realize that this tea isn’t for me.

Chizakura

Erm… oops? Apparently I forgot to set the timer. So about twenty minutes later I thought “this is the longest seven minutes ever.”

Then I looked at the infuser. “Oh,” I said. The mulberry leaves bloated with a vengeance. The liquor of the tea is a very angry pitch as midnight — but still somehow green. The thought “I didn’t know herbal tea could GET this dark” crossed my mind.

Smells like cooked spinach.

So um yeah. I’ll refrain from rating this until I make it properly. Considering all of the above it tastes surprisingly good, so this is a good sign that it must taste delicious when made properly.

Another delightful sample from Courtney!

This one really reminds me of Toasted Walnut or Cookie Dough. It’s sweet and nutty with a bit of a mild vegetal flavor that compliments the nuttiness very well. I’m about to heat up some more water for a second steep of this one, and I am so glad I have enough tea for a couple more cups. It’s perfect for tonight – I’ve had a really stressful past few days, and needed something comforting to drink before bed tonight.

Courtney, you are the best.

This is delicious. I always forget that I have it, since it was one of the first samples Courtney sent me. It’s sweet but light and it’s caffeine-free and since I’m not feeling great, I wanted to stick to no caffeine this evening. This is perfect.

Oooof, I love this tea.

I also brought this to my farm last night, mostly for myself. But everyone else ended up loving it, too, and before I could leave I had to make a cup for the singer who performed. He was very excited, and asked me where he could possibly order this tea and have it delivered right to his home. So… good work, Mulberry Magic. You are amazing.

This one smells just like Gold Rush – evidently the mulberry takes over anything else in the mix – which is just fine cause it smells pretty damn good. And added bonus – it costs less :)

It brews up an interesting green colour but still smells just as good. It smells so sweet but hopefully like Gold Rush the taste will be just perfect and not as sweet as the smell.

From what I remember of Gold Rush this is tasting just like it, perhaps with the slightest hint of nuttiness from the macadamia. I’m enjoying it.

Making this for the drive to school. Always a lovely cuppa.

But the spring collection is online now! If I didn’t have a biology lab this morning I’d be at David’s picking up all the new teas and a purple elephant mug! But I shall be there this afternoon. I’m so excited for the new teas. Especially Coconut Oolong. And some purple elephants to match my blue birds.

This is hitting the spot tonight. Just got in from a 3-hour lecture (from hell) and this is just what the doctor ordered. Ah nothing like a cuppa and Modern Family.

This one is so deliciously light. I think I may actually prefer it over Gold Rush. Perhaps. The dry smell is very similar with the mulberry scent. I have been opening it and smelling it the last few days and then putting it back in the cupboard. But tonight when I got home the fiance requested this one so I made myself a cup too. The smell is definitely stronger than the actual tea. I’ll have to remember not to be turned off by the overwhelming sweet scent next time.
