Really impressive, a Mate that need to be remembered!

I admit I was surprised because the tea actually smell like chocolate-banana with a hint of raspberry and taste like banana bread. There’s for sure a chocolate flavor in there.

So try it because you will love the way this tea impress your mouth! :)

I heard this one really wakes you up, so this is what I tried from the DavidsTea store this morning. At first it tasted to me like a chocolate bubble gum, but not in a bad way- it was too natural to turn me off totally. Afterward I read the description and realized the “bubblegum” I was getting must be be because of the raspberry: I couldn’t quite place the raspberry taste and it was coming to me as a bubble gum- even after reading the description it still sort of is. In fact, the raspberry comes out to me more than the chocolate.
The chocolate and the chickory seem to be buddies in this one and it kind of comes of as a slightly burnt milk chocolate taste. Not bad, but not my favorite. I’m more of a dark chocolate kind of girl.
I didn’t taste the base at all. I haven’t had a straight mate, so I didn’t really know what to look for. Plus the other tastes were pretty strong, so even if I did know what to taste, I may not have been able to pick it up.

I decided to grab a cup of this to go and I’m so glad I did! I love the raspberries and roasted chicory root. Just a very tasty Yerba mate! Will have to stock this one in my work drawer :)

A fun, tasteful blend! I was pleased to taste all ingredients a great amount. Usually, in my experience, some chocolate teas are too heavy on the chocolate taste and end up not being how it sounds in the description. I love the sweet hints of fresh raspberries – it’s literally an explosion of amazing flavours. Highly impressed with this blend.

I wasn’t sure if I’d like a chocolate & raspberry flavored tea. I like chocolate candy with raspberry in the middle, but I just couldn’t imagine these flavors in a hot tea. I sure am glad that I read all the rave reviews on Steepster & ordered some for myself! This stuff is decadent. It tastes like melted chocolate with raspberry jam and a hint of almond. I am 100% not a morning person. Chocolate Rocket makes my morning less of a drag. Ya, it’s that good.

I didn’t do this one justice today. I made it far too weak. I should have added more leaves to it.
But, I do love the combination of chocolate and almond and raspberry flavours. I find this tea to be very unique in itself.
I really wish I had made this one stronger as I really wanted to enjoy this tea properly. I know in the past when I’ve made it properly it always turns out so good. It is a wave of flavours that are just amazing.
Maybe tomorrow morning I’ll try again.

I just tried it this morning and it was quite tasty. It is marked as a stimulant and it does jump start you in the morning.

One of the four teas I received on Christmas.

I’m going to start by stating that I’ve never hate mate before. Sipping this, I get a powdery chocolate flavour, and a sort of deep taste, bakey—coca or mate, but it feels like a foreshadowing to the caffeine. Healthy energy drinkish.

There’s an almond scent (and a berry smell) that trails into the drink as well. Nice, sweet almond cocoa. Berry smell carries into the aftertaste, giving you… chocolately raspberries.

Looking through the ingredients, chicory—yes, I think that’s the bakey taste. It goes well with the cocoa.

Backlogging from yesterday.

I had high hopes for this one, but low expectations. I love chocolate, but my first experience with mate was a plain Celestial Seasonings that left me with that “never again” feeling. So it was with a bit of trepidation that I approached this one.

The tea smells wonderful. If it tasted half as good as it smelled, I’d be a happy camper. The verdict? I’m a satisfied camper. It wasn’t bad, but nothing special, I thought. It did sort of redeem mate (like, I might be willing to try more teas with mate) for me, but apart from the smell, it was just sort of meh.

Yummy. I had this before in the DT 24 days of Christmas, but had it way too dilute. This is delicious. I tasted raspberries, or more accurately, “something fruity” that I later discovered were raspberries. I was trying to decide if it was strawberry or cherry before I looked at the description. The scent is marvelous, rich and chocolately. I didn’t get an overpowering chicory note from this one, which is good, since I’m not the world’s biggest chicory fan. This is definitely going on the to-order list. Definitely. Thank you, Aisling of Tea for the sample!

Steeped 4 (ish) teaspoons for five minutes in 750 ml water.

Ummm, maybe not the best tea to have at 9pm, but when I purchased it today, I could not wait to get it home, and there was no paitence to wait for Sunday breakfast… Nope, not at all!

When I first smelled the leaves I was struck at how much this smelled like that horrid “Raspberry Mocha” from Starbucks. This left me a little leary to try it, but I figured there really was nothing to loose since there is only one tea from DAVIDs that I truly did not like (Dolce & Banana) This tea is fun to watch as it steeps and I am a little sad that I left my glass bodum at work, since the raspberries plump right up!

I could only smell the raspberries and chocolate, but taste the mild chicory and almond taste… we’ll see what tomorrow brings.

Oh so still delicious…

This tea is certianly my weekend pick me up tea! So for sure my weekend day start tea is this. Yumm! and this weekend I tried soaking the tea first in cool water; I understand this is probably not best for a flavoured mate, but it worked and I must say it did bring out the flavour slightly. I did notice that soaking the tea first made the chocolate far more subtle and gave this tea more of an amaretto taste as it helped bring the almonds to the fore front.

I can’t wait for next Saturday, already!

Mmmmm! This is so my weekend tea!

I know I probably say the same times each time I log this tea, but today I made an entire 8 cup botum and have infused the leaves for a second time and… wow! I feel spoiled and decadent drinking this tea!

YUMMMY!!!!
It does indeed taste like chocolate, and raspberries!! though that part is a little vague, I could easily mistake it for banana. I’m not sure about the almond… I need to try this properly at home. A great alternative to my other Mate teas when I need that boost. and much MUCH better than the disastrous Matechino from Tea Emporium— I was a little worried Chocolate Rocket would be more like that… yay that it isn’t!
Still, not my fave tea. I still prefer my Sunshine Mate

Mmmmmm. Not quite what I wanted (A nice bold, complex, black kick in the pants with milk!) but seeing as that never seems to work at this office, I’ll settle for this chocolate concoction :)
This will be missed when it’s gone, sorely! but I’m not sure replacing it is in my budget *sighs

ehhhh. So I’m nearing the end of my package (I only had a 25g sample) and I think most of the chickory slid to the bottom. This was not nearly as good as my last brew but I’m gonna leave the rating as is.
It kept me going through the afternoon so that is what matters! what a shame though… does that mean the rest of the bag is going to be worse with every cup???

More and more I’m noticing that I don’t need to add sugar to my teas. Now, is this a function of age?? or an evolved palate… errr, well I hope it isn’t the former :)
I love this tea. LOVE it!! the only gripe I have is that, like most Mates, in my opinion, it can get a little harsh… like eating too much honey (as I did as a child. I won’t admit to doing that as an adult! I’m a kid at heart… what can I say) off the spoon.
That, and I still think it tastes like bananas! The smoothness makes up for it of course. Gosh darn that is one smooooooth sip. I feel like it’s puttin’ the moves on me ;)

UGH!!! I had so much love for this tea… and now… well see my previous note.
Sorry, I’m a little frustrated today. I miss you choco rocket!!!!!!!

This was my first mate tea so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The dry leaves smell strongly of chocolate, but not milk chocolate. The tea itself tastes chocolatey, but not overwhemlingly so, with the taste of bannana right underneath. This tea had kind of a smokey taste, from the chicory I assume, and I think it really compliments the other flavors. My rommate also enjoyed it, so I think I will have to get more of this one.

Is that a Chocolate Rocket in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?!

This was one of the first tea’s my sister came home from DT with, and she brought it out upon my next visit. Which had me thinking two things, first was why did I stop getting Mate’s from DT and secondly why in the heck have I kept skipping over Chocolate Rocket!

Dry this Mate has an amazing smell of chocolate and chicory that would make Martha Stewart envious! I literally enjoy opening this one and just huffing back the smell it is so great. Steeping will fill the room with the same chocolate and chicory smell that will have you salivating. The final brew is a nice dark brown color and retains it’s amazing aroma, it taste’s pretty much how it smells and makes a deadly late.

This is a must have on hand for sure!

This is day 2 from the 24 days of teas Christmas calendar. I wasn’t really impressed with this one. The dry leaf smells like a box of low quality dark chocolate raspberry truffles. The kind you get at the drugstore. The chocolate smells artificial. The taste: If I didn’t know this was called chocolate rocket I wouldn’t have known there was chocolate in here, I would have thought this was straight up raspberry tea with something weird lingering in the background, flavorless stale carob? Think I’ll pass on this one.

Brewed: 1.5 tsp put in tea bag. Brewed in-cup with water left for a minute or two after boiling.

First cup: Brewed for around 4.5 minutes
Well, this is odd. I’m used to this tea oversteeping and becoming too strong, hence my decision to brew it in-cup. However, I seem to have had the opposite problem today: it’s not as strong as it should be at all. This is, however, the appropriate amount of tea for the amount of water I’m using. Perhaps I should have let it brew longer or else put in a bit more tea.

Second cup: Resteeped for 10-15 minutes
Still not as strong as I’d like, but not horrible. I can taste everything, it’s just… not as strong as I’d like it. That being said, I’m still terribly in love with this tea’s flavour profile. Woodsy from the roasted maté and chicory root, chocolate-almond deliciousness, and then a hint of sweet-fruitiness from the raspberry. Seriously. I’m in love with this tea. Just not this steep, which is barely showing off what this tea has to offer.

Third cup: Re-resteeped over dinner
Well, as a third steep, I’m not surprised that it’s echoing the flavours, though the longer steep definitely allowed some of them to come through. The woodsiness is still coming through decently, as is the hint of sweetness from the raspberry. Probably no better or worse than I’d expect a third steep to be with most teas.

My overall impression: I’m disappointed by this steep. I love this tea, but I probably wouldn’t have bought it again if this was my first impression of the tea. While I liked the flavour, it was always far too weak for me, even though I tried following the manufacturer’s directions.

Next time, I’ll put in a bit of extra tea for the pot/cup, and definitely up the brewing time to the full five minutes. Hopefully it will like that plan better than it did my execution this afternoon.

My rating: B- 73%. I love the flavour, but it was far too weak to get the proper taste.

My overall rating for this tea: Closer to high 80s or low 90s. I’m going to say 89 for argument’s sake, but I reserve the right to alter this after I have a proper cup of this again.

This is my favorite tea of all time. It has helped me through many early mornings lifeguarding at 6 am, and doesn’t require anything to taste amazing.

It tastes like delicious, earthly, chocolate raspberries. It is not overpowering, the Mate still comes through in the flavour. The dry leaves smell a lot sweeter than this actually is. I tend to over steep it because I’m usually running around getting ready, and I find the stronger I make it the better. It has this amazing flavour that I cannot get enough of. This tea got me hooked on Mates.

If I could only drink one tea for the rest of my life, this one would be up there. It is so deep, complex, and delicious, kinda like a good boyfriend. Thank you chocolate rocket, for getting me through so many early/lack of sleep mornings. I steep it for as long as I like, and the roasted mate flavor really shines through. There are hints of nuttyness and sweet raspberry chocolate in the background. This tea is phenomenal.

DavidsTea Advent Calendar Day 2!
Oh hello there my old friend. How are you? Yes I didn’t sleep well last night because I am freaking out that I got nothing done yesterday. Please make me productive this morning.

This is still my favorite blend ever. It is just so delicious and chocolately. I think what makes it so amazing is how warming it is. You really don’t need to add anything to it. It makes me realize why some people like coffee, because when you have something this comforting and energizing, of course you are going to drink it all the time.

I wish there was a night time equivalent of this tea for when I want to stay up but I don’t want to be bouncing of the ceiling. Any suggestions? And I don’t think it is possible to oversteep this one.

Can I express my love of this tea in a few words? Not possible. This is the tea I have had the most since my obsession with DavidsTea began. I love it so much. Had it today with some milk and sugar, still delicious. Go get yourself some, it will give you all the energy you need.

Huge fan of this tea! I make a cup each day before work. It works as a fantastic pick me up, and the flavor of it is a great. It mixes really well with DavidsTea’s Jumpy Monkey as well.

My very first Davids Tea purchase. And one of the best at that.
This tea saved me last night as I needed a powerful tea to help me stay up all night studying the worst subject ever – ichthyology (study/naming fish x.x)

Dry: visible chunks of almonds and raspberries. Chocolate colored mate with carob pieces. Smells like a million bucks. I cannot wait!
Liquor: Smells like chocolate raspberries! Soooo delicious! Very dark brown liquor. Extremely pleasant chocolate raspberry flavour that improves as the tea cools, with no weird mate peaking through (as I have had problems with mates overpowering the flavour of the tea.. maybe I steeped those incorrectly?)

Overall: My very first Davids tea will be in the permanent collection! Not for nostalgic reasons, but because this is a rocket of chocolate raspberry that is delicious and helps with energy when I need it the most. A favourite.

I’ve been sipping on this coldish steeped style loose in my mason jar with a bombilla.
Fantastic. I get a nice energy boost, and the added bonus is that it tastes delicious
So so so easy. Just pop the leaves in some warm water and top off the water when you run low.
It tastes like a coco-raspberry truffle with an almond center. I really like Chocolate rocket with cooler steeping temperatures… I find it keeps any bitterness away =)

So delicious still. It hasn’t changed a bit from my previous review. I’m still in love with the chocolatey smokey raspberry taste sensation that I have every time I drink it. Plus.. the mate is perfect for finals studying! A clear, nonfuzzy energy… I should go simply because I should be studying. Tea makes my current situation (i.e. barricaded in my room surrounded by study cards) so much more tolerable. Thanks again tea!

Goddam, this is good.

I drink chocolate-flavoured teas in the winter, to keep away from hot chocolate, and usually gravitate towards strong black teas, with cinnamon & spice. This is not that. Its not assertively chocolate, but it is very well balanced, slightly sweet from the raspberries, pleasantly nutty, and surprisingly creamy. I don’t put milk in tea, but this tempts me to perversion.

One of those rare teas, which would be equally welcome at breakfast, or after dinner.

this was definitely the biggest surprise from my advent calendar adventure (and am i ever late on writing this review haha)
chocolate is not really my thing, or so i thought. this tea changed my mind. it is yummy and smells like raspberries. raspberries are the best thing ever, the end.
i want to brew this in my fake-gaiwan and pretend it is like brewing it in a gourd. i’ll report back with my findings.
