From DAVIDsTEA

Cocktail time
Summer isn’t summer without a banana daiquiri or two. So ice this tea and get drinking. Our thirst-quenching blend of banana, pineapple, coconut and apple is deliciously fruity and tropical. As an extra perk, it has green rooibos, a super source of antioxidants and trace minerals. Sound too good to be true? Try it with a little splash of rum. It’s a tad less healthy that way. Caffeine-free.

Price: $8.00 per 50g

Another backlog! from Friday
I forgot that I tried this in store already, but it was so good that I don’t mind. With a tiny pump of agave, it was liquid perfection! none of the harsh rooibos flavour tickled my throat… and the banana really came out. yummm. I’m tempted to buy some up before they get rid of it in store…
P.S. I apologize for not looking at everyone’s reviews! I’ll get to it sometime this week, promise! :)

Daisy Chubb

Oh lucky! They ran out last week at my store before I got to even try it – snatch it up while it lasts! :)

Indigobloom

Hmmm well if I do buy any (doubtful, but possible) I will send you some! :)

Daisy Chubb

haha deal!
It reminds me, I see everyone talking about how Lime Bang is betetr than Lime Gelato but Lime Bang is discontinued, but there’s a lot left at my store so I might buy it up and play Santa some time ^^

Cattibrie

Daisy I prefer Lime Gelato. I did enjoy Lime Bang but if I had to choose Lime Gelato is definatley the one I am glad they kept. However I would definately encourage you to purchase Lime Bang if you can.

Daisy Chubb

I haven’t tried either, I’m going in tomorrow to try some of the new fall teas so maybe I’ll pick a little bit of those up too! :)

Indigobloom

Oooh I haven’t tried Lime Bang either. I really like the gelato flavour so I doubt it can be topped! I’d still give it a chance :)

Iced with brown sugar and a splash of rum – perfect way to end a stressful summer day. Thanks Jenn :)

I owe you big thanks for all of the teas I have to try thanks to you! I find myself saving teas that I think I’m going to love for later… and that’s just crazy.

Ashley Bain

I wish I would’ve had more to send you! We just have too similar tastes in tea! I’ll have to think of a way to repay you c:

Maxime-Daniel Friðrikson

I like bananas, but cannot stand them in any form other than freshly peeled and by themselves. In juices or smoothies they make me gag so, needless to say, this didn’t appeal to me. But I got in on the $1 iced tea refill mug deal a few days ago and my two options for free tea were this or Read My Lips. I’m not into Read My Lips either, and thought since this is from a temporary collection I should give it a try.

It was refreshing, and the rooibos in this was actually nice. The banana wasn’t too bad, but I think this was largely because of the way the tea gets really diluted after they steep it and then pour it over ice. That was okay by me, this time. Anyway, not a total failure but not one I would buy or probably choose to drink again. I think if you were someone who loved everything banana (are there people like that?), this would be delicious because everything else tasted good.

Indigobloom

Mmmm I must try this now! I do love banana :)

nomadinjeopardy

Yes, you should! I actually had a bit more today and it’s not bad. I think the honeybush in it makes the difference. Very refreshing.

Indigobloom

I did, this afternoon! hot though. It was yummy, I quite enjoyed it! you were right about the banana

Daddyselephant

Yeah, I was tempted by the iced tea deal, until I was told it was only on the Iced Tea of the Day. shrugs

Cattibrie

I got the iced tea deal mug and I’m not even near a store. The mug is a great travel mug for only $9.50. And I am near a store every Tuesday now. If only hubby would let me leave ball and go for an iced tea every week. He’s just afraid of what I will spend.

Indigobloom

I’m paranoid about drinking out of plastic. Otherwise I’d so be there every day!

nomadinjeopardy

Yeah, mine is designated for cold teas only. I may have resisted, but my office has a new branch that happens to be on the same block as the Bloor West DT, and I’m slated to help out there fairly often, so it was going to happen. So far they’ve given me the choice of either tea of the day on ice, and for the price that’s enough selection for me.

This is a tea I would never had considered without provocation. I don’t like the tought of banana in tea, and had no urge to even try it until I smelled the tin in store. Somehow, that delicious smell convinced me to try it. Retrospectively, it smells sort of like those banana marshmallow candies…far more like candied banana than real bananas, but it’s a nice smell.

I bought 26 g of it to try out…and after smelling a brewed cup, I think I might regret that choice. The smell of the steeped tea has a weird pungent edge that I don’t appreciate at all…still a candied banana smell as well. Why am I having this at 10 am after having only eaten a cheesecake ball for breakfast? Apparently I am a sucker for punishment..

First sips give are unimpressive. The taste matches the weird smell I got from the tea. I know that my dislike is partially my own fault, as I’m not feeling the greatest, but this might have been a mistake. There is a very weird taste mixed in with the sugary banana. Maybe the green rooibos base? I’ve had green rooibos in other teas, but I could never identify it. I think I will let this cup cool and try it cold, see if that is any more impressive. For me, this is not a tea I should have tried, so I’m not going to rate it. It’s probably a 30 for me. Not extremely disgusting, but definitely something I don’t ever want to drink.

Maxime-Daniel Friðrikson

Hem… This tea has been made to be drank cold… Am I right? If you try it cold, I wanna know if it’s a good one! Because “Dreamsicle” was a really big failure in my opinion. Hope that’s not the case for this one…

Uniquity

I didn’t realize it was made to be drank cold…and I don’t really like the idea of a tea that is only good cold. I’m not really super fond of iced or cold tea. Either way, at room temperature it was still not anything I wanted to drink, so the beau poured the pot out (he also didn’t like it). This was definitely a case of letting my nose and the sales clerk get the better of me.

Cattibrie

The new summer teas are for Iced Tea to be drank cold but there is nothing wrong with drinking them hot as well as has been mentioned by Davids Tea. I sort of liked this one but it isn’t anything I am going to order any more of.

I went to Walmart and purchased two clear plastic Rubbermaid pitchers with black lids for my Site almost as soon as I was given the tea from DAVIDs. (I can’t Thank DAVIDs enough for their generosity, I am sure they are happy because their generosity has made 5 new DAVIDs customers, WHOLE FAMILY customers!) and I bought a clear glass botum.

I had the children help me to fill T-sacs with tea, and gasp! tea was spilt, but that’s life, at least we did not loose the whole 100g tin in one go! They helped to fold the bag over, and we tucked them into the top; as I snapped on the lid children were already screaming excitement: “Look! LOOK ERIN!! Yellow!! IS THAT THE TEA?!”(I purposely used hot tap water to start the steeping process) We placed the pitchers on the front step of our site and I explained to the kids: "If we leave the tea until after lunch it will make a perfect pitcher of tea. (please note only 3 T-sacs full of tea were used for each pitcher)

The children screamed out to the playground and played the morning away, when they came back to observe the tea before lunch they noted the vivid yellow colour of the tea. “Look that colour is the same as my Granny’s birthstone!” I asked: “Oh so Granny was born in November?” – “No just a long time-a-go”

At this point I put the pitchers into the fridge and told the kids we needed to cool the tea down so that it was “iced tea” and also let them know that when the tea was served they could ask for a taste first, if they were not sure, as well as “a splash of juice to sweeten” if they needed.

When snack time came this tea disappeared faster than the veggies and dip! I love that I am creating “little tea monsters” – It is my master plan for ruling the world! (insert terrible mockery of evil laughter here)

Needless to say the children want more of this tea next Summer Camp!

This is my tea of the evening courtesy of Uniquity. This one is puzzling. I do get a little banana, but it really does not seem to go well with the slight bitterness of the green rooibos base. Hmmmm. They suggest adding a splash of rum in the product description. I think I will try that! I definitely think a little Captain Morgan will fix this one right up!

Edit to add…..yep, pretty good with the rum added. Considering this is my first tea related mixed beverage…. “Cheers! Live long and prosper, dear Steepsterite Friends!”

A real summer tea with a intoxicating aroma- powerful banana scent mixed in with marshallow. Detectable both ways( hot and cold). When steeped it goes form yellow to a honey amber colour. The over powering scent dies down, when steeped. If you like light teas- then add this to your list.

Today is a perfect day to try out my new iced teas! And this is turning out to be pretty nice, even though/maybe because I didn’t expect too much. I wanted to see if I liked this any better than Dulce & Banana – it’s sooo much better, (at least in my opinion).
Made a cup of this iced, and it’s very smooth and refreshing – I can smell a hint of coconut, and the taste is light, sweet. There is definitely some kind of pina colada after taste, but with more banana than pineapple.
Wouldn’t have bought this before, but now I’m kinda considering getting a bit to have on hand.

I prefer this tea iced over hot. It was a nice change though to be able to have it that way. A good summer flavor!
