Not going to lie, I’ve been dying to try this one for a while, so when I found out Awkward Soul had some to swap…. !! So glad I managed to nab some! :D

This one smells pretty delicious both dry and steeped. Creamy and delicious. Steeped, it gets a peachy sort of aroma as well.

Ohhhhh goodness. This is super delicious. Tastes just. Like. Buttercream. But less cloying! Sweet, coconutty, creamy is what I’m getting, plus a flavour that reminds me of Dulce & Banana and must be the chamomile(?) Delicious creamy/caramelly/butterscotchy aftertaste. Ahhhhh, I wish this was still available!! Anyone have any spare Buttercream they want to be rid of???? :D

Thank you so incredibly much, Awkward Soul! At the very least, my curiousity has been satisfied and I can understand the hype about this blend! On the downside, I only get about 2 more cups of it, but I will live :) I feel like I should also compare this to Whisky White before it’s all gone… I have a strange feeling they may have similar flavours.

ETA: Re-steep is really yummy too. I do quite like this one, why is it gone :(

Yeah, that’s right, I’m drinking some Buttercream. Mmmmmmmm. But I need to sleep and not be making trips to the bathroom all night, so I think I’ll leave the rest of my cup until the morning.

PS: Super huge thanks to all three of you that so generously sent me Buttercream, so I should have enough of this tea to last me a while!

Although I still have a cup’s worth of this left from Awkward Soul… I started in on my large baggie-ful from Robyn tonight! Thanks SO much for sending me so much of it… I should have at least enough for a few more cups, which makes me super happy!

I accidentally oversteeped this one a bit tonight (4.5 min), so can taste just a hint of bitterness, but it’s still delicious. I’m not sure what exactly it is with this one that works so well for me, but I love it. Absolutely wonderful. So creamy, and savoury, and sweet without being… sugary. Mmmm.

Seriously, this is better than Dulce & Banana. Why why why was this discontinued :( Absolutely delicious and creamy. I must like loose leaf chamomile or something.

Blaahhhhh, I wish I had 100g of this one! This is my second-last cup of it, and I’m worried that I’ll miss it quite a bit once it’s gone! :( So, so, so, sooooooo good! And very tolerant to random steeping parameters. I paid no attention to anything today (just that it wasn’t boiling water, and didn’t steep for like 10+ minutes), and it’s just as delicious as before.

Interesting, just read a previous tasting note of mine, and I suggested a comparison to Whisky White. Forgot I had that tea! Maybe I’ll have it tonight as well…

I hate how much I adore this tea!!! It has quickly progressed to being one of my absolute favourite flavoured teas, and it’s completely unavailable, aside from a few generous Steepsters who have sent/are sending me some. I wish I could petition DT to bring it back, but I’m pretty sure I would be unsuccessful. Oh well, I’ll enjoy it while it lasts…

Started another delicious series of infusions of this one last night. Still don’t know what it is, but this is just so, so tasty. I’m now half done entering the data I need to finish tonight (and then I have to run stats on it… joy!)

Mmmmmmmmm. I have missed the deliciousness of this one!!

So, one of the stores here still has this. Weird, eh? I snatched some up to see what all the commotion was about.

I can see why it was named Buttercream. The aroma of the dry leaf is reminiscent of buttercream: sweet, creamy, and smooth. But my nose can’t help but get past the mango in here. So to me it’s more like ultra creamy sticky mango.

The taste reminds me a little bit of Check Mate, probably due to the chamomile. This is a lot smoother though since I’m not detecting any astringency (which I sometimes get from Check Mate). The buttercream flavour is there but it’s really mild. Again, the mango is the main note here.

I don’t think it was supposed to be a literal translation of buttercream, but more the texture and overall sensation one experiences when enjoying a piece of cake slathered in buttercream icing.

Sip down numero uno for the day. I have a feeling there will be more. An enjoyably smooth, delicately creamy tea, but I don’t think I will be restocking. Trying to make some room here!

A brand new tea from DavidsTea…so new…it’s not even on the website yet! :)

I can tell you this! I’m a FAN!

It’s White tea with dried fruit of some sort, Chamomile, and a few other surprises…maybe mint or another herb.

This is soothing, gentle, and light but NOT light on flavor! The taste is buttery and creamy…hints of caramel or caramel covered fruit, perhaps? The ever so slight hint of floral-goodness, too!

This is special.

I finally have conquered the 25 pound box of peaches. I’m so proud. Except like 6 jars of jam are in my fridge but I should be getting rid of 6 in the next couple of days to people so yay freezer space.

Now I have to clean up the massive mess that is my kitchen now. Do not want.

It was quite nice between preserving and jam to see that a big box of tea from TeaEqualsBliss came in the mail, except it was at the leasing office soooo..I was lazy and drove myself there because I probably would have passed out on the way back. LOTS OF TEA!

I was so so so excited to see this one in there, because I did not discover DT until this one was gone. I had hoped maybe it would come back with the cupcake teas but that did not happen. Now I feel victorious!

This is indeed creamy but the mango is a bit too obvious in the taste. It smells so good though, I kind of lose control of myself and end up dipping my nose in the tea. It truly smells like buttercream.

Letting it cool down a bit. I’d ice it but I’m out of ice from blanching peaches and for some reason the icemaker won’t make more? Is it mad about all the peaches sharing its territory? It’s getting to the point I’d go out and buy a bag of ice if I had any space, I want my ice! It’s far better once it’s cooled a bit. The mango becomes more like a sweetness than a fruit flavor. It gets more buttery too.

So going to have to try this iced really soon even though there are tons of other things to try!

I wanted something that said birthday without resorting to rooibos. So this was the winner, especially because I knew I could steep the leaves again and have it iced. I actually forgot I was doing that on the counter, so I came back home later and it was like surprise tea just waiting for me.

I think this tastes way more like buttercream when it’s cold. It’s not bad hot, but it really tastes like mango and chamomile separately instead, rather than combining to taste like frosting.

I love this tea so much, they need to give in and make it again >:O

Oh man I am finally having this iced, and it is SO totally buttercream when iced, wow wow wow! There’s just a little mango in the aftertaste, but other than that it is all sweet, sweet, creamy frosting.

This one needs to be brought back like… YESTERDAY.

Thanks to Jenn for a sample of this!

This is a good choice for an afternoon tea. I am getting mostly white tea with lots of chamomile and a tiny bit of mango. I don’t really taste much butter or cream but it is very sweet smelling. This is one I liked better after adding soymilk to it. It’s nice but I don’t think I would buy it for myself.

Buttercream smells divine! I could live in my Buttercream tin and die a happy woman.
This tea is creamy, sweet, and quite delicious BUT I wish the chamomile were a little less strong. I’m not a huge chamomile fan, and when this tea is freshly brewed the chamomile overpowers the other flavors for me. Once the tea cools it has a far more Buttercream(y) flavor. It’s still an overall good tea.

Sip down of buttercream – I left enough for a small pot. My stash is getting out of control and I really need to finish older teas to make space for new ones!

I have a love / hate relationship with this tea. I love the smell but I don’t like the chamomile. I do hope DT brings this tea back for others to enjoy!

However, today I’m needing that relaxing chamomile – I got a evening at home to study Korean. I should be going to jiu jitsu, but last night I armbarred someone, but when I fell to the ground to finish them off I got shinned in the head by the pair next to us. So I got a tender head today and probably should take it easy. Time to relax with some Buttercream!

This is indeed special.
I don’t quite know how to rate it yet, it’s sweet and tasty, and my boyfriend loveeees it.

I want to make cookies with this tea. Okay I must say, if anyone is thinking of ordering the fall collection of 25g per bag, do eet! You get so much of this tea, it’s light and white!

Such a creamy tea, which I don’t usually find in a white. Love it.

Another note time.

This tea is so strange when comparing the ingredient list and the name haha.
By far it is my favorite white tea by Davids. 100%. No contenders.

I added a little dollop of whipped cream to the top, and it has become very butter-creamy. I bet if it was steeped in milk it would take on the same effect!

Today I steeped it once for 30 seconds (my usual white time) and once for the reccomended 4 minutes, and I actually preferred it for the 4 minutes. Not at all bitter some how! But a deep, more layered flavour.

Yum.

Oh, wow! it’s been ages (read as: two months) since I’ve made anything of my meager existence here! Since this is my first post in a while I felt the occasion should be marked with an “antiquated” tea: Buttercream.

It’s been near exactly a year since this tea made it’s debut and I still have half a tin. That’s not to say I’ve been unable to finish it out of dislike- to the contrary! I’ve been hoarding it in wait of the returning winter and now the time has finally arrived to awaken it from it’s long slumb…ok, maybe that’s taking it to indulgent extremes.

To the point, Buttercream smells like sweetened mangoes, chamomile, and unicorns. The liquid is a charming light gold and has a distinct buttery (almost greasy) creaminess to it akin to the tea’s namesake. It feels strange to call Buttercream a tea when the chamomile and its’ fruit allies are stealing the show. Whatever kind of white tea is in this is vastly overshadowed, although some of the floral sweetness may be attributed to the leaves. The white tea is more apparent in some steeping than in others.

I have fond memories of drinking this outside, on the front steps, after I’d finished raking the leaves and being perplexed as to how the delicious drink that tastes like icing and cake filling doesn’t also look like icing. Very puzzling, very indulgent. I miss eating the thumb sized mango pieces in the blend.

I expected to love this tea!! but no, I did not :(
The creamy butter taste hides the “white” (I can’t stand that about many DT brews!! many points lost for that in my rating here) part and mixes oddly with the caramel note, almost reminding me of rooibos in an odd way that I can’t quite identify.
The second steep was better, less overwhelming, as expected! More delicate and bright. I could have gone for a third steep but didn’t really care to. Atleast I didn’t need to add any sugar.
Overall, I did enjoy it, marginally… and of course it was nice to have tried it- esp since I was in a rush and had no time for trying one of the many lovely samples I recieved from Jenn!
Anyhow, I really miss posting here as often as I once did. Hopefully Rogers will get off their lazy a$$es and hook me up!

Happy New Year’s Eve, Steepsterites! I hope everyone has something just right for them to do tonight, whether it is a party, or curling up quietly with a cup of tea at home! This is my last tea of 2011, something sweet and shiny to ring in the new year. A little early, but you get what I mean.

I received a very generous sample of this (among other samples of delicious, delicious tea) from Aisling of tea. Wow. I love this tea. Its going in my very next order, for sure. The dry mix smells exactly like icing. I love icing. Even on crappy cake. I love the pure exquisite sugar rush and tooth-achingly sweet taste of icing. I knew this tea had to be right up my alley.

The brewed tea smelled more of chamomile than of icing, I noticed immediately when I poured the brewed tea. It also looks like chamomile, with that lovely yellow color. When I first tasted it, I was disappointed not to find it sweet. I was sure that evoking something like icing, I’d have to be able to pick up a trace of sweetness. Especially after the scent of the dry tea. Nope. Not really. But wait, not all is lost. I got chamomile, and a bit of mango, though it was more generic fruity rather than screaming “mango!”, and I got creamy and buttery, which I suspect is the white tea.

It works, people! My palate works! I actually could identify individual flavor elements! You have no idea how happy this makes me! I’m actually pretty sure I’m at the opposite end of the taste abililty spectrum from a supertaster. So to actually have a tea that I can identify flavors in? Is amazing. I’m in love.

This is interesting largely because it presents chamomile in a new way to me. I do get a lot of chamomile in this, and the floral is kind of distracting when I’m looking for a bakey creamy sort of flavour. It’s indeed creamy, and it’s sweet, but I’m not getting buttercream. And, disappointingly, it was kind of bland! What’s with that, fall collection? I’ve got to give this and Copabanana another try with hopefully more memorable results.

Alright, I gave this another go and this time with some coconut milk. And, I’m glad I did! It’s grown on me. After a long day of volunteering at a busy event with a ridiculous cold (it’s SEPTEMBER) and when I need to unwind so I can be refreshed for another charity event in the morning, it’s hitting the spot (and helping me rehydrate, hopefully). Sweet, subtle, creamy. I’m finally getting some of the buttercream with the milky addition, though each sip seems to alternate between buttercream and chamomile taking precedence.

This one has grown on me. I ordered 50 g and am thinking I might even need to get more before it leaves! With a little coconut milk and maybe even a tiny bit of coconut sugar when I’m feeling indulgent, this is perfect in the evening. The boyfriend is also quite the fan. He likes most teas I put in front of him but can’t tell the difference between them, so this is big!

Had this iced yesterday on the way to work, yum yum yum! It really did taste like buttercream, very creamy and sweet. I agree with whoever said a touch of vanilla would help, but this certainly hit the spot yesterday! I have a lot of love for this tea, but I need to try it a few more times before deciding to stock up or not. I am very, very pleased to find this one isn’t just traces of white tea loaded down and made heavy by fruit like Mango Madness, Cherry Potion, or Pom Power.

Best chamomile tea I’ve had. Fruity and creamy. Vanilla frosting and butterscotch notes.

Chamomile seems to cause really insane dreams for me, some really disturbing.. to the point where I stopped drinking it… but this is so good I’m giving it a chance. We’ll see what happens lol.

This tea has made me like chamomile. Smells soo good. The boy and I enjoyed it with sugar and a few drops of cream after a lovely dinner of homemade chicken & spinach pizza that I made. :) It was the perfect dessert since we were stuffed, and the chamomile had the boy out like a light!

It feels like autumn outside. :D

Firstly this smells sweet and creamy both before and after brewing and the mixture looks like large natural, pale leaves…similar looking to natural sage.

I had to check what buttercream was and the internet says that here in the UK some people make it into icing for their cakes. I think I remember reading in a book that Americans (and possibly Canadians) also have this as a drink similar to milk…that I cannot imagine as it’s super sweet.

Anyway the colour is a golden yellow and with the first sip I can taste subtle mango and slightly sweet chamomile. It seems that the more of this that you drink the sweeter it gets!
It’s strange…I’m more of a savoury person than sweet but this is an interesting experience. It does taste like liquid frosting and I bet if you were to add sugar to it then it would taste even more like it. However for me it would be too sweet.

In simple terms imagine a warm, sweet, creamy, lightly fruity yet with floral highlights cup of tea and you have a good idea of what this tastes like.

Overall: First cup is interesting, I may try adding milk next time to see how it turns out…so far it’s nice but going to take a savoury girl time to get used to.

I got this in a trade with Awkward Soul. I am glad I got some, since I don’t see it on the website anymore.

Don’t have time to write a long note at the moment, but I really like it. Very creamy taste and the mango helps and adds a nice after taste.

I would recommend this to white tea people and chamomile lovers.

P.S. I was able to get a second steep.

The description of this tea makes one believe that he/she is in for a real treat! I love the name and the idea of a tea that reflects the indulgence that is buttercream. The dry leaf smells fruity and strange at the same time. I used quite a bit of leaf for a 12 oz. cup. 2.25 teaspoons. As it steeps, I’m getting a rather rich, sugary scent — one that is paired with fruit. Sipping… To me, it tastes like apricot with a weird aftertaste. Something grassy? Perhaps the white tea? & I really wonder how I am supposed to go about getting the buttery taste (I ALWAYS seem to miss butter notes unless they’re from an Oolong). The tea becomes VERY smooth as it cools, though.. like silk! Maybe that’s the butter? The idea of adding milk and sugar to this tea seems strange, and I don’t know if I can stomach doing so. Maybe those additions make the tea even better. If it’s written on the package, I should give it a try? I wish this tea were more BUTTERCREAM without as much fruit, but the smoothness is awfully enjoyable.

Incredibly creamy, tasty and really-sloppy.
For lovers of teas like: Buttered Rum and Vanilla Oolong.

The whole blend goes through a special mixture of creamy chamomile with a little hint of caramel. It’s hard to describe, you know? It never get bitter and the more it’s getting cold, the more the butterscotch taste became alive.

A great signature blend along with, Buttered Rum, White Tiger, Oolong Life, Jumpy Monkey, Pumpkin Chai and Mom’s Apple Pie.

FINALLY my order arrived on my doorstep, but which tea to start with?? Buttercream sounds like a winner…

Hot: Me-o-my this is lovely. Not so much buttercream as… butterscotch? The little sister of Whisky White: smoother, more personality and no bitterness. Besides Strawberry White, this is my new fave white tea.

Cold: So, I got busy with the baby (needy, needy, needy) and the tea got cold, but FEAR NOT for it tastes just as refreshing! The “butterscotch” comes through a lot more now, mmmmmm. Me likey.

I know I’ve reviewed this tea, like, 4 times already (shows you how good it is), but I gotta say I just whipped up a batch of Buttercream-infused honey applesauce and… wow. I’ve infused all sorts of teas into my applesauce recipes—why use water when you can use delicious, flavourful tea—from Coco Chai Rooibos to Mom’s Apple Pie (seemed logical), but this.

This is something else. The Buttercream just compliments the honey in a way that makes it almost taste like caramel apples. I might just have to make more of this…

Another white tea greatly improved with a lower temp + short steep.

Steeped only 1 minute (would’ve been 30s but the timer went off and then I puttered around forgetting what the timer was for in the first place!) and it came out delightful and sweet. It’s creamy, light, floral… and so much tastier than I remember it being! I suppose there is something to steep.its white tea recommendations, DAVIDsTEA should take not of that, seeing as all their recommendations for white teas seem to make them taste not as satisfactory as they could be!

Mmmm, mmm, mmm. Nothing like a warm cup of Buttercream on a chilly autumn morning… warms me to my bones.

With all the new Christmas candy in the stores, my sweet-tooth is craving sugariness every day!

Buttercream to the rescue! Light, sweet, creamy… it dampens the cravings, for a little while at least.

Got my order earlier today and this was the first one I decided to try. Not sure why since I am so excited about Mom’s Apple Pie and Pumpkin Chai. But this was a really nice tea. Didn’t taste like buttercream to me but I make a really good buttercream icing with some vanilla so maybe that is what I am missing. Maybe I should add a small amount of my vanilla flavouring to it to kick up the taste.

A very light tea but quite refreshing. I may try this iced later. As of right now I don’t think that I will rebuy this one. But you never know.
