Copabanana

Fruit Herbal Blend by DAVIDsTEA

The hottest tea north of Havana

Its name is Copa, it is a tea blend. Big banana chips take centre stage, with a supporting cast of coconut, cacao, almonds, sweet apple, and strawberry pieces. Who could ask for more? One sip and you’ll see why this blend is a real star. It’s a fruity, sweet, exotically delicious way to heat things up. So go ahead and try a cup of Copabanana…you’ll fall in love.

Ingredients: almond, apple, coconut, orange peel, cocoa peel, banana, strawberry, vanilla.

A huge thanks to ch3rryprincess for sending me a sample of this tea I’ve been so curious about (also, for the GIANT bag of Buttercream!! Oh, I’m so thrilled you have no idea!)

Anyhow, I brewed some of this up last night, and the smell overwhelmingly reminded me of DT’s Banana Nut Bread. Which was okay, but not a winner for me. The flavour was alright, quite banana-y, and coconutty, with some other flavours as well… but it really didn’t work for me. It was almost like a cross between Tropicalia and Banana Nut Bread. I’m drinking the second infusion right now, and am definitely underwhelmed. Don’t feel like I missed anything by not getting more of this tea, that’s for sure!

Anyhow, thanks again ch3rryprincess!

Sipdown! I brewed up a very thick cup of this today, and am enjoying it… but I don’t know. It’s just not quite working for me. It’s very nutty pina-banana-y. It’s definitely better with a higher fruit:water ratio as I used here (2 tsp or so for 6 oz??)

I think I’ll bump the rating a touch, as this is reasonably good cold, and I tea I would actually drink again… except I still have a ton of Luscious Watermelon and… shifty that other heavy fruit blend from the summer… Memory fading, apparently.

Anyhow, thanks again to kittylovestea for passing along a generous sample of this one!

thank you courtney for this sample. Even though i don’t much love coconut, i wanted to try this one just in case. While this smells really nice…as a tea it’s pretty gross. There’s a slimy oily film on the top of this tea that makes me cringe. totally glad i got to try this but uh…yeah this small sample was a good amount! :)

sipdown! I tried this one as an iced brew just to see how it fares….yeah still hasn’t improved my opinion of this one. but at least i got the chance to try it! Thanks again courtney :)

this is a tea i would never buy because i don’t eat banana-flavored anything. i only eat bananas.
but great that Davids sent me one of their little sample pouches cuz now i can try it despite my banana feelings! and i always wanna try a new tea. no matter what i suspect i MIGHT think of it i still ALWAYS wanna try it once.

but alas, yes, i mean, it DOES taste like banana. and not really fake tasting either. almost like they squeezed a banana’s juice out. and that is a big compliment coming from me :) so if you like bananas that aren’t bananas, you should totally buy this!

Duuude. This one smells amazing. Like some sort of homemade banana baked good my mom would be baking. Maybe banana chocolate chip loaf. Yum. I can only hope it will taste as it smells. Though I’m pretty sure I could just have the scent waft at me all evening and be perfectly happy.

Oh yes, this one is delicious. I don’t know that it tastes as it smells. But it does taste good. Very good. I imagine it would be good chilled as well but boy am I enjoying it hot. I know what I’ll be drinking for the rest of the evening (perhaps interspersed with Coconut Oolong).

Update: This one is pretty good cold but I think I may prefer it hot. The chocolate comes out a bit more when it’s hot. Yes the flavours are definitely more muted when it’s chilled. And on that note, I’ll steep myself a hot cup of this now.

Wow – there are A LOT of things in this blend. I can’t taste them all but I CAN taste the banana. That’s the number one. Then I can taste a bit of chocolate, coconut, almond, and mushy fruitiness. This almost makes me think of Malibu. I wonder what it would taste like if I mixed it?

Tonight is not the night to find out.

I’m going to sit and sip away at the rest of this pot, and rate it another day.

My second cold brew! And I have to tell you I was a little nervous after the way Kokomo green turned out. I really didn’t like this tea hot, but as a cold brew, it’s not bad. Probably because it’s an herbal, so no threat of bitterness from the tea leaves. It smells delicious. The taste is pretty much A WHOLE LOT of banana! So, if you like banana-flavored drinks, this is for you! Personally, I’m not sure what I think. I also got some nuttiness, maybe from the almonds or coconut, or maybe even the banana chips. I also decided it was best with a little sweetener. Couldn’t really tell if I could taste the other ingredients. Not bad, but I don’t know how often I’ll be in the mood for it. It makes me feel better about cold brews, though! Will have to try some other teas this way!

Btw, HAPPY FRIDAY!

What am I missing here? My Copabanana tasted like watery nothingness and I used two teaspoons of the stuff! Did I get a bad batch? I even let it steep for eight full minutes.

Copabanana tastes like disappointment.

Another sample from DAVIDsTEA which didn’t appeal to me in the slightest, but wound up being quite delicious! Creamy banana! I said banana creme pie and my husband said fried bananas. In any case, it should give you the picture: sweet, decadent, dessert-y. I put a little honey in our cups but I don’t think it was needed. I’d be quite happy with two oz of this in my cupboard, yes indeed.

DAVIDsTEA

Dry Leaf Nose: Banana with a hint of cocoa and coconut.

Liquor: Colour is a foggy banana white/yellow with a rich banana and chocolate aroma. Hints of coconut in the background.

Flavour Notes: Flavour follows the nose – rich and complex with sweet banana leading, and chocolate and coconut supporting the flavour.

This tisane has really chunky pieces of dried fruit and nuts but this blend doesn’t go far because of the bulk. A 25g pouch only makes three cups and that’s pushing it. The recommendation is 2tsp per cup, but when a single teaspoon contains one banana chip and an almond, you have to use more.

The fragrance is great. Because you only have dried fruit and nuts with no artificial flavoring, it’s very clean and fruity. The brew results in what is essentially trail mix soup. It’s tasty but you could get the same effect from throwing some dried fruit into a teapot and it would cost much less.

Maybe I’m in a funk, but this one is just so so. I do like it as a caffeine free alternative to have at night, and it is kinda hearty and heavy feeling, which is good while it is still cold, but I am also picking up a very transitional taste with the fruit…like it is longing for spring, ad to be made on ice.

I find the flavour a little complex and I am not sure what to make of it. Sorta chocolately, a little strawberry and fruity, a bit almondy, and a bit coconuty as well. Kinda makes me think of a banana split.

I think this might have more of this again, but I think I prefer Forever Nuts to this, and Alpine Punch trumps all my non-caffeine teas right now.

This is yummy! I prefer this to Banana Nut Bread, but they are both infuriating in that you don’t get very many cups in a bag. Courtney sent me a delicious sample of this, and I am going to see how many tasty infusions I can get out of my two teaspoons.

I am definitely going to need to try this one again, but I don’t think I’ll be drinking it very often.

Totally fell asleep drinking this last night. I managed to get the bits into a jar to cold-brew before I actually went to bed, though. It was delicious hot, as usual, and I’m looking forward to trying it cold as well.

I just wish it wasn’t so dang expensive!

I went to DT today and bought so much stuff they gave me the tea of the day for free . Yay!

I was sure I wouldn’t like it because I usually don’t like banana (especially the articial banana flavor) but to my surprise it was really good.

It tasted like banana but not as much as I thought it would and it was not too sweet just .. the perfect kind of sweetness ;).

There was also a really good nutty after taste and a hint of coconut.

I’m now thinking about maybe getting some to try at home. What a surprise… Me and a banana flavored tea!

The only thing is that is was a little bit weak but maybe it’s the way the steep it in store.. I know it often happen with the tea of the day… :S

This wasn’t bad. Actually, it was pretty good but unremarkable. I gave it a good hearty steeping but it still came out kind of weak and non-descript. Definitely banana-heavy, sweet, and tropical-tasting. I’ll have to try it cold like DaisyChubb as that sounds good.

The smell is remarkable, like suntan lotion and those candy necklaces. Let’s hope the taste matches the smell…

Hot: The first thing I taste is the banana, but not fake, medicinal banana—this is the real thing (as it should be, since when I first opened up the pouch there was a HUUGE slice of dried banana on top!). After the banana there is a rush of other flavours, first coconut, then appleraspberryalmondorangecacao. So. Many. Flavours…

Iced: … Mouth ’sploded.

Now to eat the rehydrated mix. Om nom nom.

So all morning I have had Bobby Bloom’s Montego Bay stuck in my head, not really sure why seeing as that is a 70s song and just a bit before my time, but hey I guess it could be worse like a jimmy buffet song or something.

Again I purchased this herbal solely based on the dry smell, it seemed like it would brew a tasty cup; however after reading a few of the reviews on here I was scared I might be left with a slightly banana flavored cup of warm water. Thankfully though this was not the case.

Dry this blend has a powerful fruit smell that is heavily encompassed with Banana, there are big chunks of everything, its bright and colorful and there is huge banana chips in it…wait a minute are you sure this is tea and not something you mix with yogurt?

The brewed beverage has a nice banana taste to it, with just a touch of sugar added (less than 1tsp) it gave this blend the perfect little sweet kick that it needed, otherwise I could see where people are getting the watered down banana flavor from. Overall it isn’t a terrible blend, it does lack a bit in the flavor department for all the stuff in the blend but otherwise it is pretty tasty. Not sure if I would rush out to get more of this blend though, need to have a couple more cups before I can decide.

I’m finally starting to get through some of the samples I’ve received! Yay!! I received a more than generous amount of tea from Amanda and found a sample of Copabanana included. I am now interested in more fruity teas as the weather warms up and this one was exactly what I was looking for.

I brewed this one at double strength and then iced it. I find it to be quite flavorful! Banana is front and center with hints of coconut and strawberry. I used a bit of sweetener and it almost reminds me of a fruit juice. It might just be me, as I do not drink fruit juices anymore. While I am enjoying this tea, it reminded me that I need to put in an order for more tea suitable for summer. I love the teas I already have, but they seem to be more appropriate for cooler weather. There is nothing wrong with more tea though. :-)

Went to David’s today and bought 20 g of all the new teas, plus 100 g of Strawberry Rubarb Parfait… I tried copabanana first, the dried smell is so good, bananas galore. The first sip was okay but not great. I think I was getting more coconut than banana, but as it cooled it got better. The banana went back to the front and the other flavors took a step back. I think I like it more than Banana Dream Pie (DT) and Choco Banana Foster (Teavana). I will be adding more of this tea to my stash.

I finally managed to get my hands on a few Davids Tea 25g bags and my first cup was of this.

It smells gorgeous (banana and coconut mostly) and it reminds me of a fruit cocktail or luxury trail mix. Since this doesn’t contain any actual tea I don’t count is as one but instead it’s a fruit drink.

Alright so beyond smelling lovely both raw and once brewed the colour itself remains a very light yellow which is a nice novelty.

Taste wise it’s very yummy, each mouthful seems to have a different flavour changing from the banana to the coconut to cocoa (in a dark chocolate sort of taste). I gave a cup of this to my boss and he said it was like drinking a bounty bar. We tried it without added sugar because we frankly feel that it’s sweet enough and very natural tasting. Wonderful to clean the pallet and make a change.

Overall it’s nice but I’m not sure I could drink it all the time. Great to cure those naughty snacking urges.

I added this to my cupboard then realized I used it all to make a pitcher of iced tea so technically I’m out of it haha!

I’m having a cup of it hot while I wait for the rest to cool down. This is an interesting tea, it tastes like a weak banana-apple cider (weak not being a bad adjective, just in comparison with how strong apple cider is). I’m a fan of all of the ingredients in this unique herbal. [yay coconut!]

I can not wait to try it iced with a splash of rum. For a fall tea, I think it is made to be iced, but then that’s the point of this one in the collection isn’t it? To take you away to a tropical place while you wait for winter to set in n_-

It’s a nice fruity drink – love the banana chips in it! Give it a try if you like apple cider and bananas b^_^

Edit: yup it really shines cold! It’s super sweet with natural sweetness (just like me, HEYO)
