Hum this is an interesting flavor. Had to think about what was missing in the Carrot Cake flavor and I think I have it….cinnamon! I put a cinnamon stick in my cup, gave a stir, some sweetening and a little cream and it picked up the experience considerably. You do need to steep fully though. No weak tea. Without the addition of spice the tea is a bit perfumy with some carrot and not enough cream/vanilla to carry the theme.

Stinks! I got rid of the last of it to people who wanted to try it and had to double bag it because of the smell! Bleh!

So sorry but this just tastes weird. I tried to like it and even mixed some pumpkin chair with it…but nope…nada still weird flavor. Tea and old perfume. If I can figure out a way to fix this…will let u know. Maybe anise.

The carrot flavour is not as pronounced as I was led to believe by the name of this tea. I can mostly taste the flavour of coconut mixed with the oolong- which is an interesting experience on its own. I’m not sure what the “artificial flavour” added to this tea was for, but there seems to be an unpleasant taste (which can be described as “artificial”) in every sip.
When cold-brewed this tea has an unpleasant, sour quality to it.

Okay, so I’ve rated this one based on my multiple experiences with the tea itself. However tonight? I finally figured out how to save this tea! For me carrot cake is all about the spices, and so I tried adding a teaspoon of my Chai Spice from The Tea Haus to 1.5 teaspoons of Carrot Cake. And voila, finally it is the carrot cake I expected the first time I eagerly smelled this tea.

I’m glad I got a chance to try this tea out! Not quite the carrot cake taste I was looking for, I guess because I like the icing more than I like the cake. But it did have the spicyness to it that a carrot cake should have. I enjoyed it.
However it’s not my favourite, and I’m not sure if it’s something I’d drink much of.
It really didn’t live up to my “desert in tea form” expectations.

Not bad, but not so good too. I think i don’t like cake tasting tea (makes me feel like i’m eating liquid cake). Carrot cake’s fan should try it although! I tasted it at a DAVIDsTEA store!

Firstly, thank you QueenofTarts for letting me sample this!

Secondly, has anyone else ever used the Burt’s Bees Carrot Nutritive Daycream? Because that is EXACTLY what this tea smells like (with maybe a little extra sweetness). Did a blind smell test on Fiance too, and he said he thought he was smelling two blobs of my facecream.

This smell probably kind of dampened my goodwill towards this tea right from the go. But, onwards!

The tea itself brewed a really nice copper color and smells a little spicier than it’s dry counterpart. I taste allspice with a touch of carrot initially. It has a nice mouthfeel and little astringency. I definitely get the impression that this could be like drinking a carrot cake. Just not a carrot cake I think I’d like to eat.

I’d really like to try adding milk and sugar on my next cup to make it more desserty and creamy, but I fear it will be like ingesting my lotion sprinkled with spices.

Curiosity lead me to making a cup as a latte, despite my fears that it might taste like spiced lotion.

The good news is it doesn’t taste like spiced lotion.

The bad news is that it tasted like melted lotion without spice. Couldn’t even finish my cup. Ew.

It’s taken me a while to review this tea, because I have such mixed feelings about it.

First of all, I hate the smell of this tea. I don’t really get the “paint” smell that others have noted, but I find it overly perfume-y, as if it was actually fragranced more than flavored.

The first couple of times I tried this tea, I had it as I drink all my teas – black, without any sweeteners or milk. I found it tasted much like it smelled: very artificial and almost kind of flowery. Didn’t really pick up anything that tasted carrot-cakey.

Then I decided to try it with a little bit of the half-and-half we have in the office. Suddenly, it’s an entirely different tea. Still has that awful smell, but the taste now resembles a very mild spice cake. Something about the cream brings out the “cakeiness” of the tea. I wouldn’t quite call it carrot cake, but there’s a sort of nutty, cake batter taste to it with the cream.

Overall, I’ll finish off what I have left of it, but I won’t be buying it again.

Sipdown! Trying to clear some space on my tea shelf for an incoming order.

This tea is still “just ok.” Tried it with some almond milk for this last cup, and was admittedly less than impressed. Still have a hard time getting over that overly-perfumed, artificial smell.

I didn’t know DAVIDStea could make a bad blend until I tried this one! Firstly, I was given a 100g tin from a friend for FREE because she hated it. At the time, I was shocked because every DT product had been so delicious. Well, I was wrong. Dead wrong. This tea tastes like potpourri or perfume. Ack. I kept it on hand when I was out of my more preferred blends, but every time I tried it, I was still utterly disappointed.

Don’t waste your dollars on this tea. Get Pumpkin Chai instead :D

I actually really like this tea a lot. I mean, I wouldn’t list it in my top ten or anything, but I think it’s about as carrot cake-y as a cup of tea can ever be expected to be. Spicy and sweet-ish, this is great on gloomy Fall days.

I had high hopes for this tea. Smells nice in the bag, but the taste is just alright. The aftertaste leaves the flavor of carrot cake better than the tea itself does. The artificial flavoring is pretty noticeable.

Weird, but good – can’t do this one too often.

I keep thinking this will taste sweeter than it does. Perhaps its the ‘cake’ in the name. Really pleasant tea, soft notes of carrot and spice, but not really sweet.

I really like this. Its quite a different flavour, with the carrots, and it smells a little odd dry, but I really like it!

Love this tea, drink it almost daily. Doesn’t really taste like cake, but still great.

This one disappointed me. I might try sweetening it with agave or something next time.

I was really looking forward to trying this tea as I love carrot cake but it was only available as a tin and I wasn’t ready to commit to buying that much at a shot of something I wasn’t sure of. I finally tried it as a tea to go and was sadly disappointed. It wasn’t as flavourful as I had hoped it would be and could have perhaps used a little bit of sweetener added to it. It wasn’t offensive, it just wasn’t what I was looking for.

When I first tried this in a to go cup, I was blown away by the taste! I picked up 100g and since then I have been struggling to get around to drinking this flavour. I am rather upset because I thought this was something that I’ll like. The carrot cake flavour, sweetness and smell doesn’t come out until you have steeped it for a lot longer. However, if I steep it for too long, it becomes sickly to smell and taste. I was pretty disappointed because I really liked it the first time I had it. Maybe I have a bad batch.
