Tangerine Dream (organic)

Green Tea by DAVIDsTEA

It was all a dream.

We’ve been searching high and low for the perfect tangerine tea, and we finally found The One. A delicately toasty, citrus-laced green tea, it’s everything we hoped for and more. What makes it so special? It could be that the orange peel is dry-toasted for extra sweetness and depth. Or maybe it’s the juicy punch of essential oil of tangerine. All we know is we can’t help but drink it all day…and dream about it all night long.

Ingredients: Organic: green tea, orange peel, lemongrass, stevia. With essential oil of tangerine.

I got a sample of this back n March and am finally giving it a go. I am steeping it up in my perfect tea mug for around 3/4 minutes-ish. I love citrus teas BUT find they are usually not done well, so I am eternally on the search for a good one. I am not a fan of green teas in general but find they do work well for citrus, so I hope I don’t regret this decision.

The dry aroma is very sharp, like the zest of a clementine, tangerine or other sweet orange-like fruit. The steeped liquor is much more muted, with more of a green tea aroma than anything else. by that, i mean sweet hay or grass. Fields after the rain, that sort of thing. : )

In terms of taste, the citrus is not very forward. It is nicely disguised in the background of the green tea and is actually really pleasant. I would like a bit more citrus, but this really works. Especially to the idea of a tangerine tea, since there is the sweetness from the green. Definitely suitable but not a re-buy.

PS – The beau is now the fiancee. After eight years, we’re now “official.” I’m so excited! Now to plan and pay for (what we hope to be) a small intimate country wedding. We shall see..

Good Lord LEMONGRASS!
First I dislike – no I despise lemongrass.
Second THERE IS SO MUCH IN HERE!
In all fairness there IS something yummy to this – I am letting it get cold in the fridge now to see what I think when its cold. I got a sample from someone I wish I remembered who but thank you to whoever sent it my way.
Withholding rating for now.
ETA: Still don’t like it – although it IS better cold. Its not for me AT ALL. Not rating based on the fact that the only reason I don’t like it is the lemongrass. That does not mean it is a bad blend.

This is okay, as usual it’s one of those teas where you can tell it’s on the brink of going bitter, yet you can hardly taste the tea itself.

I steeped it for two minutes and then poured it over ice. It has a decent tangerine flavor; it tastes rather like a legitimate tangerine, although I cannot remember the last time I had one. I was expecting it to be kind of bitter because it smells just like peels before it steeps, but I guess the stevia helps that out.

Like I said, it could really use a boost in the actual green tea department. I’m not sure I like the almost genmaicha-like toastiness with a tangerine flavor. In fact, I think that might be why I think it tastes almost like it would go bitter if it steeped 15 seconds more. I’d like a sweeter green base to boost a juicy flavor out of the citrus, since if I eat orange citrus fruits, it’s because I want that aspect of it!

Not bad though, thanks for sending me some to try, Kittenna!

I’m not a big fan of citrus in teas, because it’s often citrus peel that’s used as flavouring, which I dislike – I only like the juice, which has a different flavour. Anyhow, picked this up a while back to try anyways, because I’m ever-curious about new teas!

Steeped, the scent is citrusy. Citrus peel, definitely, but that’s what I saw in the dry tea, so I’m not exactly surprised. The flavour follows suit: lightly citrusy with a sencha base that comes through nicely. There’s almost a bit of creaminess as well.

If citrusy green teas are your thing, this one would definitely be one to try. Steeped as per the instructions (2 min, ~80C), it’s light and refreshing, without astringency or bitterness. My only complaint is that I’d like more green tea flavour. Common problem.

DAVIDsTEA

Dry Leaf Nose: Intense tangerine with a slight toasty note in the finish.

Liquor: Clear, golden-green liquor with tangerine and delicious green tea aromas.

Flavour: This tea is the perfect balance of citrus and green tea and citrus, with an added toasty note.

Not bad, though it feels like one of a million incarnations of the same tea. Definitely not exciting. That said, it is light and fresh and citrusy, so it’s pleasant. The stevia thankfully doesn’t bother me in this one.

One of the factors I consider in a tea rating and review is how long after I drink the tea that I actually write the review, and how well I remember it in that time. If I’m still thinking “Oh God, that tea was freaking amazing”, that tea was freaking amazing. If I’m sitting here trying to figure out what the tea tasted like at all, that’s not really a good thing. Unfortunately, this tea was definitely the latter.

It did have a very juicy aftertaste, but it was strangely not thirst-quenching. The green was a bit bitter and left my mouth feeling very dried-out. It was alright, but not fantastic.

Generic and dupeable. As much as it breaks my heart to say it, that is my impression of this one. It smells like an orange tinted earl, and that’s basically what it tastes like, except I didn’t get as much tangerine as I’d’ve liked. If you’re a fan of Earls, especially green leaf ones, then give this one a shot. It is a good tea, and you may find that you fall hard for it. But if you’re only a mediocre earl fan like myself, you may want to give this one a pass.

This was kinda meh. The flavours melded well together, but nothing really stood out for me. I do get a little tangerine taste but I would like it to be stronger. Maybe I will try a longer steep next time.

This is one of DTs new citrus teas. It smells like orange peel, so I didn’t want to try it when it first came out, but I drank it today and it was really good. Like eating an orange…a hot cup of orange Tgere was a bit of a green tea taste as well, but for the most part ot was just citrusy.

This one wasn’t on my list today, but it sat on the counter staring at me until I finally gave in and asked for 10g.

My fiance has been matching me for cups of tea today, so I get to hear his input on everything I’m trying as well. Lovely, lovely. He actually enjoys tea a lot but doesn’t drink it nearly as much as I do. A nice change of pace today.

It smells almost peppery? Is that right? Perhaps that’s the lemongrass. I don’t think I’m really enjoying this one too much. I have enough for another round so I’ll have to try it iced.

Good lemongrass notes and with a really nice sweetness to it. It’s a tiny bit murky & the tangerine flavours are a teeny bit bitter (from the peel possibly?) – but overall a very serviceable green tea. Definitely worth trying.

When I first saw the description of this one I had really high hopes as the ingredients seemed very similar to The Countess of Seville which is a personal favourite. Sadly, not only was it missing the characteristic bergamont oil flavour of an Earl Grey, I also found the flavour it did have was not something I enjoyed. My impression was that this is a little citrus tea that I am sure many people will enjoy iced when the weather gets a little warmer.

I got this on the go from the local David’s Tea and had with just a touch of honey. I love fruity teas and the citrus flavor was very strong, so I liked it. The lemongrass adds to the flavor and gives it some great herbal undertones.

Light green tea and a strong, natural tangerine flavor. Reminds me a bubble tea, but not as artificial or sugary.

I crave citrus when I’m sick, so this makes me happy today. Let’s hope I stay happy as we are moving the whole office back to our renovated office. People tend to panic in situations like this. I don’t panic if I have my towel. :-)

I wasn’t feeling adventurous this morning, so I got a tea I know I like. I love the slightly tart citrus in this and the green tea is tasty as well. I didn’t let the bag sit in the cup like I did last time and it is much better for it- no added bitter element.

Not really a lot of tangerine specifically, but I do really like it. There is a lot of citrus going on, and the green tea is nice too. The wife got me some for Christmas and I just had to order some more.

I was really excited to taste this one after the woman who was working there went on about it! The smell was quite nice…very citrusy! Yet, when steeped, it really missed the mark for me in terms of both taste and smell. I really didn’t taste any of the fruit…more of a merky green tea. I’m glad I only got 10g because I wont be trying this one again.

This was my first venture into green tea. For years I turned my nose up at green tea because I thought it was gross and grassy. I got talked into buying this at davids awhile ago and really enjoy it. It definitely has a grassy flavour but its not unpleasant. I like that I dont have to add any sugar to it to make it taste good. I cant really taste any tangerine though which is a bummer. I dont have much.. ok anything to compare this to but I do like it.

I was in the mood to drink this today. I like this because it doesn’t have a strong buttery note that some greens have & it tastes good non sweetened. Its only a sometimes tea for me though since im not really a green drinker.

Forgot to rate this last night! Still a good green tea. The first 2 steeps I drank hot as usual and the third I put in the fridge so I could taste it cold. Dissapointing, it was really weak. Might have been because I already steeped it 2x so im not lowering my score. Love that this has stevia in it so I dont have to sweeten it.

disappointment :(
this one smells phenomenal in the package; so bright and citrusy!
i usually love lemongrass in my citrus teas, but i think there might just be too much in this blend – once steeped it came across very grassy and unpleasant.
i will definitely try this iced soon though, and bump up the rating if that improves the flavour any! i just made a grapefruit simple syrup, so i’ve got high hopes! fingers crossed!

I’m a sucker for anything citrus, so of coure I had to buy a sample of this. It’s quite well blended with the tangerine definately present to a very good level. Not soft but not overwhelming. Overall, a nice tea with a mild profile :)

I was served this as the tea of the day at my local David’s Tea.

This tea was served cold. I liked the mix of green tea and citrus and it was quite sweet on the initial sip. This particular tea was quite bitter on the aftertate. The stevia leaf may be contributing to this undesirable flavour.
