Kiwi's Big Adventure

Green Tea by DAVIDsTEA

Fasten your seatbelt

There’s something about a kiwi fruit that just makes us smile. It could be their cute round shape, or their fuzzy skin, or their bright green colour. But we think the best think about a kiwi is the taste – like a cross between a peach and a melon, only better. So it goes without saying that this kiwi-spiked green tea is a real treat. From the second the aroma hits you, you know you’re in for something special. Sweet, fruity, tart and lively, it’s an adventure you won’t soon forget.

Ingredients: Green tea, freeze-dried kiwi, apple, lemon peel, lemongrass.

Cute! I loved the colour of this tea – vibrant green! Total kiwi!
We just got a to go cup with a little bit of agave – but I found it quite sweet!
I didn’t like it enough to take some home with me, but honestly that’s because I spent more money than I thought I would stocking up on cupboard staples – so just no room for this one right now.

I’m not the biggest kiwi lover either – I think the tea lacked a tartness that I associate with kiwis. I rarely eat a ripe kiwi I guess, they’re always sour to me haha!

Does anyone else eat the outside of the kiwi too? I can’t stand peach fuzz, but I can handle kiwi fuzz. Maybe it’s weird – I learned it from my uber Scottish stepdad so maybe it’s a Scotland thing – I dunno! ;)

Anyways, the tea was alright, didn’t blow me out of the water, but sweet and a nice iced green tea!

NEW TEA FRENZY! Can’t believe my local DavidsTea had all three out today when I went to restock some Chocolate Cake! Nice surprise :D

Dry tea smells deliciously fruity, and although I might not have figured it out on my own, it does smell like kiwi. Interesting!

Steeped, it definitely has a different sort of fruity smell than usual. A sort of tropical fruitiness, but not pineapple.

The taste is sweet and light, and the aftertaste is of kiwi. No obvious green tea flavour, but I’m sure it adds body. There’s a small amount of kiwi-like tartness and astringency (definitely from the fruit, not the tea).

Overall quite pleasing! Better than some of the other greens I’ve tried from Davids lately. Not likely a re-stock, but I’ll have an enjoyable few cups of it :)

Whoops, guess this is another one I’ve had for a while. Anyhow, my feelings on it don’t seem to have changed… in fact, I’m probably finding it even less interesting now. A fruity-ish green pretty much lacking in tea flavour. And I don’t think it’s age, or understeeping, or anything here, this is just not a very interesting tea.

Sadly this wasn’t a sipdown… I still have a cup or two left of this. Sil? Indigobloom? Raritea?

SIPDOWN! Thanks to courtney for sending this my way in our last swap :) I think my favourite thing about some of my swaps is getting to try david’s teas which i just don’t buy for myself 98% of the time. This one intrigued me simply because i haven’t tried many (any?) kiwi flavoured teas. Not sure that i get the full on “kiwi” flavour in this one, and the green base is not entirely really sort of there but this is a nice enough tea. Nothing i’m dying to keep in my cupboard but i’d drink it again from time to time. :) thanks courtney!

This one surprised me. I had been wanting to try it (Hello – kiwi?!?!) but was hesitant as it’s a green tea. We grabbed it to go as the iced tea of the day yesterday and I must say it was good. It was quite weak, which was only hampered by the additional ice they added (anyone else notice how little tea volume you get with the TotD?) but I really enjoyed it. The green tea was not present at all, but there was the taste of something definitely kiwi. Worth playing around with to try to increase the strength but I managed to resist the urge. For now. : )

Yum, I love this tea. It is sweet and mellow and just exactly what I had been hoping for when I first smelled it. I can see why it is described as a blend of peach and melon because yeah, that’s exactly what it tastes like to me. I can’t wait to try this one iced because I suspect it is going to be amazing served on ice with raspberries.

After all the heavy teas of Christmas spices, I’ve started leaning to lighter fruit teas. This one was a great choice that hit exactly the right spot. I’m not sold on the scent of it dry, sometimes when I open the tin it overwhelms me a bit too much. As soon as I get past that, though, I steep it up and fall in love all over again with the first sips. Sweet and fruity without being overpowering, I like this one a lot.

I ended up finishing the last of this sample after all, along with Main Squeeze, this night/morning… My eternal clock is really messed up right now and it feels like 4pm despite being 6am.

I dumped nearly 6 grams in my 700ml (24 oz) teapot because, like the Main Squeeze, the first time I had this I found it to be on the weak side. It reminds me of Tetley’s Pomegranate Green Tea, as well- watery, fruity, and green. Kiwi apple flavour is very prevalent with a finishing taste of lemony green. Sweet, puckering tart, clean green with a A dash of prickliness.I do like that flow of flavours and that I can taste the tea in this one but I’m, unfortunately, not the biggest fan of kiwi. I’m also not huge on the watery broth that this tea has. I guess I’m craving something with more body. Despite all of that this is a unique tea that kiwi and fruity green tea lovers should try at least once.

I was so excited about this one, I love kiwis!
I like this one alot. Cold brewed, it is very refreshing.
Lots of kiwi flavour, then notes of green tea, apple and tiny bit of lemon. Tad bit tart, but mostly sweet.
Too bad there is artificial flavouring in here. But, still really like it.

This is a weird one. Good, but weird. I wouldn’t think kiwi would be a bold flavor, but it kind of is in this cuppa. I made this hot, but I think it would be better iced. I taste a tropical adventure, and it’s fun and perky, but it’s missing something… did I expect too much from a kiwi tea? Perhaps.

Upped the rating; made this iced. This is so much better as an iced tea over brewing hot. I can taste the kiwi flavor better. Strange! I made a second glass with a couple kiwi ice cubes and that was even better.

A side note: I tried blending this with a strawberry herbal tisane and the result was surprisingly good.

In conclusion – either iced (with or without matching ice cubes) or pair with a strawberry tisane for the hot variety and I was much happier!

Thanks, Kittenna! I’m glad I got a bit more of this from tigress_al because I love this! I cold steeped it overnight, and it is very kiwi with just a bit of citrusy undertones.

The green tea doesn’t really add much other than I guess some depth. It is VERY pale despite brewing 12 hours.

I’ll have to give it a try brewing double strength and pouring over ice instead.

Dry Leaf Nose: Fruity with the kiwi making a primary appearance and the apple sweetening the nose. The tea taste is apparent, but sits in the background.

Liquor: Green-gold liquor, clear and aromatic with the fruit above the green tea.

Flavour: Interesting kiwi notes are prominent with the citrus note supporting this. The apple pieces are sweetening the liquor and the green tea notes are apparent and add a soothing and classic roundness to the blend.

So sad. I am a huge fan of Peewee’s Big Adventure, and I so desperately wanted to love this tea, but for me it was nothing but a Big…disappointment. I cold brewed this, I had it hot, I did everything I could to it, but it didn’t wow me. Cold brewed, this just tastes weak and bland…and since I used about twice the leaf I usually use for cold brewing, that just sucks. It’s alright enough, but it’s not one I feel the need to have more of. Oh well.

The name of this tea is so fun!

This one smells great dry and steeped – more the apple and lemon than the kiwi. I’m not finding the taste as potent as the smell. I’ll have to try steeping it longer next time to see if I can get more of a flavour. I’d also like to try it as an iced tea since these fruity ones seem to scream summer :) It’s certainly unique if nothing else!

I’ll give this one a rating once I’ve tried some variations.

Update: I’ve tried this one hot and it didn’t wow me. I’ve been cold brewing it since yesterday morning before work (oops I meant to try it last night haha).

I can’t decide if I’m enjoying it more or not. It’s a fascinating taste thought I’m not quite sure it’s a kiwi taste. I probably left it too long with the leaves.

So i got this in a swap and its nice i am not a fan of Kiwi’s per say but this tea is very nice and its keeping me warm at the moment at work.. I can tast the tartness in this but the flavor is good… Its almost like a normal tea with not much flavor. Not sure ide stock up but if i was offered it i would drink it.

I love love love this tea! It’s mellow and full of kiwi flavour all at the same time. It is one of my favourite green teas right now. It smells really strong from the tin but isn’t as strong once brewed. If you love Kiwi, you’ll love this tea:

A new favourite. This is the first tea that I have come across that I really enjoy hot and cold. From the dry notes, I got a very lovely sweet fragrance. When steeped, the same thing comes out…yippie! I thought this tea would be weak in flavour, but heck no, it’s loaded with sweetness for 2 steeps! I felt like I was drinking a fruit juice! The ingredients used were pure genius, they were able to get an very noticeable kiwi flavour! I love kiwi’s.

So this is day 10 of the advent calendar… I’m almost caught up. This one smells fun and excting and also has an adventure of taste. The little apple pieces in this tea are just so cute in the hot water.

So I got this tea on day 20 as well and finally cracked it open yesturday after chatting with the awesome DT customer service. I missed out on the detox so they will be sending me some, which is really sweet of them. Much love to them for that. Getting this tea twice was no punishment , I actually liked this one alot. When detox comes in, I’ll do a proper tea tasting for day 10. My fave part about the tea is the apples. I love the apples in this one, great smell and great taste.

Courtney sent me a sample of this one the other day, and I had it after my lunch this afternoon.

Hot, it was fruity and refreshing, but it’s definitely not my favorite. I much prefer Lime Gelato. However, it got better as it cooled, so I’m going to try it cold later. It’s currently in a jar in my fridge. I’m expecting to prefer this one as an iced tea, I think.

If I had smelled this tea in the store, I never would have bought it. As it is, after ordering it online it has sat in my cupboard for well over a month (an extreme rarity) due to smelling more like oregano than kiwi. Maybe I do not have such a refined nose or tea smelling palate but I know what I like. I must have felt “adventuresome” this morning and made a mug. It smelled great steeping and I knew I would like it right away (and silently kicked myself for not trying it earlier :)
There definitely isn’t a strong green taste but that isn’t a bad thing, just a taste preference. Since I steeped/drank it from my french press style mug I expected it to get bitter in the last little bit but it didn’t. A very surprising cup of tea but I enjoyed it throughly. I am not sure I will buy it regularly but maybe in the summer time I would get some to make ice teas with (even though I found it tasty hot). I may brew it longer next time for a stronger taste, there is room for experimenting. I don’t know if I tasted it without knowing the name that I would think “oh, that’s kiwi tea” but I do see how the flavours work together kind of like the sweet/tartness of a kiwi.
I’d recommend it to anyone who likes fruity teas, lighter green teas or if you were looking to try something different. And will tell my sister about it later, I am sure she would enjoy.
I am pretty excited to have found steepster. Its funny this tea, one I have put off for so long, would be my first taste note or posting at all on this site. Thanks for reading! :)

Who would have though such a small fruit could taste so big!

Kiwi’s big adventure is currently the reining champ in my Green tea book at the moment, I absolutely enjoy drinking this tea, it honestly reminds me of Kool Aid.

Dry this tea is loaded with all sorts of stuff it almost looks like something you would feed a rabbit, but I wouldn’t suggest wasting this awesome tea like that! It has a pleasing citrus and kiwi smell that is evident immediately when opening a tin. Brewed it is a very light tea that gives off a very sweet smelling kiwi aroma, you may actually want to pour it on yourself, again not recommended!

The final brew is a fairly light coloured tea with a slight green hue, at first I wasn’t sure I had brewed it properly until I tasted it. WOW is all I can say for a very soft and light looking tea this stuff pack enormous flavor.

I drink this one with 1-2 tsp of sugar depending on my mood and it always brightens my day up, for me it’s an instant flashback to being a kid drinking kiwi-lime Kool Aid without a care in my head. Could certainly be consumed without sweeteners and it would still be delicious. If you like citrus and sweet teas you have to try this tea at some point you will not regret it.
