Kiwi's Big Adventure

Green Tea by DAVIDsTEA

Fasten your seatbelt

There’s something about a kiwi fruit that just makes us smile. It could be their cute round shape, or their fuzzy skin, or their bright green colour. But we think the best think about a kiwi is the taste – like a cross between a peach and a melon, only better. So it goes without saying that this kiwi-spiked green tea is a real treat. From the second the aroma hits you, you know you’re in for something special. Sweet, fruity, tart and lively, it’s an adventure you won’t soon forget.

Ingredients: Green tea, freeze-dried kiwi, apple, lemon peel, lemongrass.

What a name, but does it live up to the hype?

I brewed it on the low side, just to be safe, but the problem with pairing a green tea + fruity pieces is the fruit really needs a hot + long steep to really bring out their flavours, while the delicate green tea requires a short + 80°C steep. This poses a problem, either you get flavourful fruity bitter tea or weak fruity green tea. The latter is what I ended up with… not horrible, not astounding, just kind of alright.

Which is disappointing because I was really excited there was finally a kiwi tea in the DAVIDsTEA roster.

Still catching up on my DavidsTea advent calendar from last year and sipping on this while I marathon the first season of Bomb Girls.

This is nice (but I think I underleafed) and probably tastes great iced. It was refreshing to taste kiwi in a tea. I wish it were a bit stronger though, at times it seemed overpowered by the apple.

Had this iced with nothing added. I wouldn’t automatically nail the main flavour as kiwi, but it works I suppose. I’m fairly ambivalent about this one – I really wanted to like it, but it seemed a little to mild for me. I don’t think I’ll be making a reapeat of this one.

Awesome iced.
I love this tea iced. I got a sample of it from a friend and I really liked it. I haven’t bought anymore- next time ;).

This one is really cooling and subtly fruity! It’s just nice on a hot summer day! If you like this he, you will like bamboozled! That ones great too!

So, small anecdote: I’ve never seen Peewee’s Big Adventure and have no desire to ever see it. So when Kiwi’s Big Adventure was first posted, my mind somehow managed to interpret it as a…. Kiki’s Delivery Service reference.

Disappointingly, I don’t like this tea nearly as much as I like the movie. :/ I had it iced in store today and it was just bland. Bland and bitter. I asked for only a little agave because the smell and description promised it’d be sweet by itself, since usually I like some sweetener in green tea when I have it iced, but it was just awful. Bland, no kiwi flavour, no fruity flavour at ALL, just bitter iced green tea. It may have been how it was brewed, since I got it at the location I haven’t been very happy with recently, but I doubt I’ll be getting a sample of my own to try, honestly.

KIWI’S BIG ADVENTURE! Could there be a better name for tea? I think not!
When the tea is steeped it smells like those Lip Smackers I used to have, the one that was Kiwi obviously. So yummy.
I made this one as an iced tea and it was DELICIOUS!!
You can definitely taste the kiwi. This will be an amazing summer drink. I can picture it now, despite all the cloudy weather. Me, this tea iced, a good book and a beach towel.. YAY!

The only reason I picked up this tea is because my cat’s name is kiwi :p. I didnt like the smell of this the first time I smelled it but the girl who was serving me said that it smells better when it is brewed. I picked up a 50g bag and was not dissapointed. It tastes good warm and I think it could be really good iced.

Within first sip, I could sense melon, peach, apple, and kiwi! There’s a distinct kiwi after-taste that I do not mind at all! Lovely blend for a green tea. I am usually really picky about fruit blends and green tea cause I find that they’re always bland or just not right. I can already tell it’ll be great iced for a hot day.

I didn’t care for this tea at first, but then the lady at David’s tea told me I shouldn’t be pouring boiling water onto green tea because it burns the leaves and therefore gives off the bitter aftertaste. Once I started to let the water cool before pouring, the tea started tasting much better :)

This tea smells amazing like green apples and kiwis.
It also smells like it’ll be deliciously light and fruity for a green tea.

Once brewed it’s ridiculously clear and smells the same just cooked!

Damn I am looking forward to this.

First taste and it’s delightfully light and refreshing.I taste the apple and kiwi and it’s lovely. This is a wonderful light tea…perfect for hot days and hard to get up mornings.

Very nice green tea. You can taste the kiwi but it is subtle which I enjoy. This tea is nice and soft and defiantly something nice to drink when you don’t want to be slammed with flavour.

mmm, this tea smells wonderful. bright and tart, just like kiwis and apples.
and i’m glad to see there’s more ‘tea’ in this blend than previous tea+fruit blends, where the trend seemed to be mostly fruit chunks with a few tea leaves hiding here and there.
anyway
yes! tastes alllmost as good as it smells! so wonderful. light and fruity and flavourful.
another one to stock up on. hoorah!
also, i’m betting it will be delicious iced as well. yay summer!

This one isn’t bad. I don’t know if I’d get it again, but I will definitely enjoy what I have.

I stopped by my local DAVIDs and got this one to go iced. It was very refreshing and the kiwi was yummy but it wasn’t my favorite blend. It was a little bitter almost…
I can’t really compare to other green teas that I’ve tried iced because it was the first one that I’ve tried. Probably won’t get it again but it was a nice refreshing drink on a nice sunny afternoon.

I like this one, you can taste the green tea at first, and then you’re left with a strong kiwi aftertaste

Drinking this tea now. All I can really smell is the green tea in this, with a little hint of fruit (but hardly). The green tea in this is REALLY strong, so if you don’t like green tea you will NOT like this tea.

The flavor is still good, I just wish they would have put more kiwi taste in it. It is called “Kiwi’s Big Adventure”, therefore I would think I would have been hit with both and explosion of kiwi/fruity aroma and taste, but it was lacking for sure. The taste just doesn’t compare to the name it was given.

It has a beautiful green color to it, and looks beautiful in my new clear perfect tea mug (also by DAVIDsTEA), just wish it tasted as good as it looked. I put 2 tsp of honey in a 8-12 oz glass of tea and it still didn’t bring out the fruity flavor…but still not a bad tea.

Overall, not a bad tea, just could have been better. I would definitely drink it again, I just probably would not purchase it again.

Alright, so I’m not a kiwi fan so this might not be a fair assessment of this tea but this was shockingly bad. I got about half the cup down and poured the rest out.

One of the first teas I bought at DT and its just wonderful. It smells great when you open the package and tastes even better once it steeped. Its a great tea and I love it. I think its going in my favorites

At first, I did not like this tea, but with time (and some persistence) it has grown on me. At Davids they taught me to rinse the tea leaves before making it hot so as not to burn them. This was my problem with the tea initially I think. I also began to make it iced and enjoyed it that way.

I really, really enjoy this tea. I had a baggie of it left over from last spring and made an iced one.. it was delicious :) .. I think went to refill my tin that I had with some coconut oolong but they were out.. so I decided to fill my tin with this. I think my little baggie was not the freshest because the tin was EVEN better! :) I love this one iced… I don’t remember how I felt about it in the spring last year.. but this year, I definitely love it :)

Kiwi? What Kiwi? I mean, I get something “fruity” that’s not completely apple (but hello, apple pieces!), but nothing stands up, punches me in the face and says “yo. I’m kiwi, sucka!” So I guess you could say that I personally don’t think the flavour lives up to the name.

I left my steeper in the tea while I was drinking it so the fruity taste got stronger as I drank, but the green tea taste got more and more bitter. Should have taken it out sooner…

I doubt I’ll buy this again. It’s not terrible. It’s not your generic fruity-tasting green tea. But I have other fruity-tasting green teas that I like more, so I just don’t think it’s going to make it back into my tea stash. Too bad, too. I love kiwis…
