From DAVIDsTEA

Just dessert

What’s not to love about a red velvet cake? It’s chocolaty, it’s rich, and it’s bright red. We’re the first to admit it’s a pretty flashy dessert. If other cakes are birds of a feather, the red velvet is the peacock – which is exactly why we love it so much. And this sweet, lightly creamy black tea blend perfectly captures our favourite dessert. With semi-sweet and white chocolate chips, beetroot powder and little red sprinkles, it’s rich, delicious and a whole lot of fun.

Ingredients: Black tea, semi-sweet chocolate bits, white chocolate bits, beetroot powder, sprinkles, natural and artificial flavouring*.

Allergens: Soy and dairy

I saw a suggestion online (I can not for the life of me remember where) but to blend this with Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait to make a Strawberry Shortcake flavour. Colour me amazed, it worked beautifully! have played with the blend a few times, and I have settled on a straight 50/50 mix with a bit of sugar added. I get a nice juicy hit to berry along with the heavy base vanilla cake notes from the Red Velvet Cake. I am not the biggest fan of Red Velvet Cake by itself, but this is downright addictive. It makes me want to try Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait with some Coffee Cake and see where that gets me!

Another of my samples from Dustin

Smells very sweet and cake-like in the bag
The taste is also very sweet: like sugar and melted cake sprinkles. I can tolerate this flavor so much better than most of Della Terra’s Dessert blends, but the whole super-sweet dessert tea thing is not growing on me yet. Maybe I’ll find just the right one someday, but this one is not it.

One word: YUMMY!! My wonderful boyfriend was kind enough to order this tea for me (as I was contemplating buying it myself). The smell of the leaves are definitely buttery and is reminiscent of cream cheese icing! I couldn’t wait to brew this one. The taste is definitely cake-y and delicious! There is a hint of chocolate that is not too overpowering. I made this with a touch or cream and a bit of sweetener. I will definitely be buying this one again!

I love this tea. I’ve already repurchased it. It’s sweet and rich, smells (and tastes) strongly of caramel, my boss even noticed the caramel scent when I came close to her with my brewed cup. Enjoyed it tremendously with a dash of half and half. I don’t really get much chocolate out of it. I will have to brew the chocolate cake to compare soon. I can see this one being a regular staple that’s always in stock in my tea cabinet.

Sinfully Delicious!

Well I found another ‘dessert’ tea that I will be hoarding and consuming as if it were a necessity of life! Even more so since it doesn’t contain the calories of the real deal.

Dry this tea is colorful to the eyes and smells great under the nose, the most powerful smell I could pick out was the chocolate and sprinkles, you know its a good tea when it has sprinkles! Brewing the tea does have a slight baked goods aroma to it, was very pleasing and made it hard to control myself from drinking it before it was ready.

The final brew is quite red from all the sprinkles, it has a cake like smell to it, but at this point the tea has settled into the aroma. The flavor is great, not a dead on accurate RVC flavor but it sure hits the mark pretty good for a tea. Highly recommend this one to any of the ‘dessert’ tea lovers, just wash your items out promptly after this tea the chocolate and sprinkles leave a lot of residue.

Dang! I think I just got hooked! I had my first sample of this fine tea brewed for me at my local David’sTea. On the first sip I was in heaven – and though I had already paid for all my purchases (some more Kanpe for my kids, Long-Life Oolong for my oldest, some Swampwater for making some iced tea, and 100g of Organic Stormy Night for myself), I ended up going and purchasing 50g of this wonderful treat :)

As a tea latte, this tea has managed to quell my sweet-tooth craving for some cookies or cake – I mean the real, calorie crammed stuff, instead of this delicious liquid treat ;) I foresee many “liquid cake” desserts in my near future!

I can honestly say that when David’s came out with the cake flavoured teas earlier this year I wasn’t too keen to try them…. Now I’m kicking myself for having not tried them earlier!

I am slightly obsessed with this tea at the moment. I have been struggling to cut as much processed sugar as possible out of my diet, so I have been satisfying my sweet tooth with agave sweetened iced tea. I like to steep this one very strong and then iced it. However, this trick for me seems to be straining it off the ice after it’s cooled right down. Otherwise it starts to melt and the tea just gets a bit watery. All this aside, this is just my personal preference. I’ve also tried it unsweetened both iced and hot and enjoyed it. I am going to buy a tin of it along with one of the new clear perfect mugs :)

First time to try this, thanks to the friendly staff of DT who recommended this tea when I was in the store. I found the stackable tins cute and I grabbed a tin of Skinny Oolong when she said that Red Velvet Cake is a must try. No regrets, I fell in love when I smell the buttery-vanilla aroma. I will definitely buy again with a bigger tin… Happy drinking, tea-lovers!

Is this ever sweet! And that’s just how I like my tea :P I do definitely get a cakey icing vibe from drinking this. I’m only a few sips in, but I have a feeling this might become cloyingly sweet fast. Nevertheless…I like it! Probably won’t repurchase it though.

Wow, I just have to say this is SO much better then Republic of Tea’s Red Velvet Chocolate tea. I actually really like it. When I smelled it, I thought it would be similar to DT’s Birthday Cake, which I didn’t care for. That is, it has the same maple aroma. I was a little worried, but it really does taste incredible! The black tea is smooth and robust, and I could definitely taste the red velvet notes of cocoa, and white chocolate in the background. HOWEVER, when I added soy milk and Truvia, it was absolutely cakey, and it brought the red velvet to the forefront and became even more delicious. I wish I had ordered a tin of this, and I will absolutely be repurchasing.
