Pure Vanilla (organic)

Rooibos Tea by DAVIDsTEA

By popular demand
A lot of our fans have been asking us for a vanilla-scented rooibos, and after trying dozens of blends we finally found the perfect one. But now that we have it, we can’t believe we waited so long. We’re totally addicted. With rich rooibos, sweet vanilla beans and pretty marigolds, it’s perfectly balanced and delicately creamy. It’s great on its own, or mixed with other blends for an extra touch of richness. Thanks to everyone who wrote in! We hope you love it as much as we do

Ingredients: red rooibos, vanilla beans, marigold.

Bought the smallest amount possible of this one (8g) just to satisfy my curiousity.

While it was brewing, there was a most unpleasant aroma. Almost like…. stinky feet? Blech. Stinky, rooibosy feet. Since the tea has now cooled, the offputting smell is gone, and it now smells mostly like a sweetened rooibos.

The flavour actually isn’t all that bad; it tastes like a vanilla rooibos. A lingering vanilla aftertaste, like vanilla extract, is notably present, which is not something I’ve ever previously tasted from a tea, but other than that, it’s a fairly nondescript flavoured rooibos. No medicinal taste here either, which is a big positive. Not a tea I particularly want to drink again though, especially given a plethora of other much tastier flavoured rooibos options (e.g. Creme Caramel Rooibos, Oh Canada, etc.), but it probably serves its intended purpose well.

DAVIDsTEA

Dry Leaf Nose: Vanilla and red rooibos.

Liquor: Red-brown, clear liquor with a true vanilla aroma accompanying the red rooibos nose.

Flavour: Hints of vanilla, supported by the red rooibos.

Edit: Once it’s cooled down a little, a lot more vanilla comes through. It’s a nice tea. And I appreciate its simplicity.

Rooibos. Enough said. There is some vanilla, but the rooibos is overwhelmingly strong and as I’ve said time and again, I can’t stand that rooibos funk. I made this as a latte and I steeped for 7 minutes. I am hoping that I’ll get more vanilla with a shorter steep. Until then, I give this an “Ok” rating. It’s not awful and it’s not great. It’s fine.

Not even done steeping and I can smell the medicinal scent.

Well there’s vanilla there, which helps to mask the medicinal taste. But unfortunately I can still taste that taste underneath. Bleh, bleh bleh.

Who doesn’t love vanilla? It is in almost every sweet food we love and the smell is the go to aroma for most people when choosing their own personal scent. Never have a I heard a disparaging remark about this lovely sexy thing.

Now Rooibos is not a main thing for most people I did not even register it as drinkable until my buff introduced me to it only a few years ago and I’ve been 30 years on this earth !drinking tea all that time!

Now this smells like straight up sexy sweet vanilla no real hint of rooibos until brewed and steeped. I of course overloaded my perfect DAVIDsTEA tea spoon and steeped 7 minutes for full body and flavour.I’ve never been a fan of straight rooibos the taste is not something I look forward to but this smells nice…I can tell its a rooibos but it doesn’t have that dry muddy smell it’s been liberated by the vanilla and they as ingredients complement each other nicely. The perfect couple? We shall see.

The taste is surprising in that it tastes like rooibos but for once I like it.it doesn’t feel heavy or earthy just warming and instead of being bitterness there is a sweetness at the end of every sip.there is also a floral kiss that is nice and subtle.

This tea is for you if you love rooibos and it is a great drink to start someone off with their rooibos discovering journey.I’m going to give this to my bff Linda Irvine since there is no bigger rooibos lover.I do feel conflicted about it though which surprises me even more!

I’m not going to buy more but I’ll never turn down a glass of it!

Drinking this one before bed since it has no caffeine hehe. This ones nice, pretty simple. I can’t taste too much vanilla, but I’m still drinking and left the bag in to see what happens… It mostly just tastes like rooibos. Not bad though! I’m enjoying it. I’d love to try the DT vanilla oolong and compare the two for vanilla flavor though. This one doesn’t seem “true” vanilla to me! But I still like it.

Edit: it’s starting to taste like cough medicine?

Because of my recent venture into rooibos land, I picked up this one. I was disappointed in the vanilla oolong so I figured this one might be the winner for me out of those two. This one definitely wins. I had this tea straight, but I also made a latte one night before bed with almond milk. It was fantastic. I find with this one, I am particular about how it is steeped because too long, and the rooibos overpowers the vanilla giving it a bit of a bitter taste but so long as it is steeped correctly, it is a good tea!

This was today’s sample at the Bleecker St store. Very vanilla but the rooibos is so strong. Not for me unfortunately.

I had this as a tea-to-go this week and it was pretty good. I wish the vanilla had been a bit stronger in it, but it was still pretty good. I would have it again, but I don’t think I would buy any at this time.

Not an overwhelming love for this one, but I do quite enjoy it. THe vanilla is not as earthy and comforting as I’d like it to be, but the blend is pretty decent. When steeped for a long time the rooibos base takes over the vanilla flavours, so I’ve had to watch that since I’m prone to distraction and oversteeping. Overall, I enjoy this, but I think I’ll keep searching for the perfect vanilla rooibos.

I bought a 50g of this tea from David’s tea website because I thought it could be awesome. It’s not. I don’t think I would buy it again, not because it tastes bad, but because it’s not tasty enough. I would’ve liked more vanilla taste. I’ll try it again with different temperatures and update the note.

So I’m trying this one out again. First time I couldn’t pick up any vanilla. It just tasted like rooibos. This time, I think because I was really looking for it, I can smell the vanilla and taste it a bit too. Not that exciting, really, but if you want simple, this is it.

This is AMAZING. Rooibos is pretty much my favourite tea, and I LOVE vanilla. This is really, really nice. Going to buy 50g.

Blech. Not impressed in the slightest. Normally I love love love vanilla anything. And its delicious in so many other teas so I had high hopes for this tea. either way I was still hesitant so only got a tiny bit of a sample to try. And rather glad I did. Either I didn’t used enough tea, or the tea itself is a weak blend because I hardly tasted any vanilla in this blend.

Not enough vanilla and too much rooibos in this blend. Maybe its because I’m not a rooibos fan to begin with? Too sweet for my liking. Now if it were a black tea base perhaps?

I went with a mission to try Roobios. Turns out, not my cup of tea (har har). I didn’t mind the smell so much, and hoped that it would taste better when boiled, but there’s just a really strong bad smell leftover before and after the brewing that stuck in my head throughout. I also found the taste to be too soft and more spicy than anything.

I really desired to love this tea because I simply adore vanilla! The smell and taste is so soothing. Though, the vanilla in this tea felt artificial to me so I did not enjoy it as much.
