Cocomint Cream

Herbal Tea by DAVIDsTEA

Cream of the crop
Coconut and mint might not be a familiar combo, but trust us. It’s seriously addictive. As soon as you open your first tin and experience its fresh, sweet-mint aroma, you’ll understand. It’s the kind of tea you always want to have within arm’s reach. It makes a sweet little afternoon pick-me-up. Or a perfect finale to any meal. Or a midnight snack that won’t keep you up all night. Refreshing, creamy, sweet and comforting, it’s everything a tea ought to be.

Ingredients: Apple, coconut, peppermint, blackberry leaves.

Cocomint Cream? Wasn’t that the name of one of the My Little Ponies? The one who always believed in herself and tried to share? This tisane is coconutty and minty and tastes like candy in a teacup! Utterly scrumptious. It does have artificial flavoring. I’m not so down with that, because my Pony name would be Earthy PureCrunch or something like that. What would your Pony name be?

Wow! I bought this as my to-go cup of the day, and now I’m wondering if I should have grabbed 30g of this instead of Santa’s Secret.

It smells strongly of mint and that’s all I could taste at first but now…. each sip starts off minty, then turns creamy, while ending with a coconut note. I think I can even taste the apple! I’m happy I got to try it.

Oh and they added a bit of agave nectar to it. I think that helps to enhance the flavours.

This is a great thermos tea! I didn’t have much time to make tea this morning so I threw the leaves in and left. They were in there for nearly an hour, but the tea wasn’t super strong – just hot! So that’s a total win.

I’m starting to see why people want more than one timolino…

Today has been rough. So rough. The baby was miserable and wouldn’t sleep, and it’s just compounded so that it’s nearly midnight and she’s still awake and grumpy and I’m still awake and possibly grumpier. :| #momlife

Tried a few things and nothing worked so I took a little break to brew up a cup of Cocomint Cream while I left her to play with some toys. BEST CHOICE EVER.

DavidsTea better have something damn amazing to replace this because I am already sad that it’s going. I went into one of the stores and they are out of stock and don’t think they will get anymore in. I have one more store to check, otherwise I only have a precious 30g left.

Sadness. So much sadness. If I ever do experiment with blending teas, I’ll just have to make this one my damn self. :| #shakesfist

Amazing! I’ve had such bad luck with teas the last day or so (with earl grey’s and variations of) that this was a relief. I love this one!!!

It had better be available in-store all year…

I drank a whole pot of this and enjoyed it with oranges, chocolate orange slices and cookies!!!

First sip: coconut!
Second sip: coconut that turns into minty goodness
Third sip: mint mint coconut cream coconut!

I made a whole pot of this with 1.5 tsp. Looking forward to sipping it all night. I just bought 100g but I want to make it last.

I’m upping my rating a bit.

An interesting tea to say the least. Much like a mint icecream with coconut shavings on top. It is very refreshing after a long day or as a night cap. With late night classes and new dances to master I found my energy return from savoring this sweet treat. The apple provides the balance between both the mint and coconut, yet stays in the background to boost the two. A perfect tea for those who love the mint varieties of teas and are looking for one that is very soothing indeed.

Thanks to Marcel Duchamp for sharing!

This blend did not disappoint! The apple adds a little bit of tartness, but it is smoothed out by the creamy coconut. I adore coconut, so wish it was a bit stronger. I taste more mint than coconut, but the two blend beautifully together to make an enjoyable tisane.

I love mint. I was kind of confused about this tea but it smells right and I hope it taste as right too.I love all the ingredients but together ..wow we will see.

I’m really hoping for a tea slam-dunk my last 2 were not that worthy of taking up permanent residence in my tea cupboard and being restocked again and again.
I need a winner.

Once steeped the mint tones down a bit and this sweet coconut is holding it’s hand.I don’t smell apple but there is a light fruity kick that piggybacks the rest.it smells minty but sexy fresh but rich.

Okay so the taste is heavy on the mint and I definitely taste the cream.
It is a combination I’ve never tried before……hmm I’m not sure what to think I’m quite confounded..I find it hard to give you a worthy review so I think I’m going to rate it but go back to the drawing board and brew more..

So when I first heard of this tea, I was SO excited I had to tell my friend who is a huge coconut fan. COCONUT and MINT?! Weird combo but oh so interesting! When I got to smell the dry leaves at the store, I was actually disappointed. I’m not a mint fan and the mint smell was definitely there, somehow I was hoping it would be more coconutty. Anyways, that was probably 3 months ago when it first came out. On 12/12/12 (woohoo!) I went to a DAVIDsTEA with my friend who was celebrating her birthday and I treated her to a Red Velvet Cake latte (with a candle on top!). I also wanted to get myself a tea to go too. I thought out loud “Which tea would make a good soy latte?” The Tea Guide told me “Cocomint cream!” a little hesitant but also lazy to think of anything, I agreed to it.

IT WAS AMAZING.

So amazing that it convinced me to get myself a 100 gram tin the next time I dropped by a store.

I did brew it on it’s own as a straight tea and yes, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I did when it was a latte but it’s not bad.
The latte had a bit of agave added to it.

Something about the combination of the milk with the mint made it so creamy. Initial taste was almost similar to sipping into a mint ice cream but with a really pleasant coconut cream aftertaste.

I dislike strong mint teas, but this has sort of opened up some new doors for me.

Cocomint cream? High five to you, cocomint cream. YOU GO COCOMINT CREAM! (and a hi5 to you if you get my lame reference :P)

I used 1.25 David’s Tea Scoop in my Aqua-Ovo tea tumbler.

The scent of the brewed leaf is a nice mix of primarily peppermint and a coconut with a creaminess to it. I find peppermint to be a rather strong flavour/scent and seems to take over many others. The flavour is quite similar to the scent; primarily peppermint with a creamy coconut. There is a definite sweetness throughout and a pleasant sweet trail on the end of the sip. I am able to detect a hint of apple near the end of the sip following the sweet trail near the end. I am not partial to the combination of apple and mint flavours; it reminds me too much of when I take a bite of fruit too soon after brushing my teeth. As this tisane cools, I am really getting a strong hit of sweetness; not too sugary thought- it is quite nice!

Overall, a unique mint blend.

Second infusion for 5 minutes and 30 seconds. The sweetness is still very present while the mint and coconut flavours are subdued. There isn’t much in the way of creaminess for this infusion. Apple flavour isn’t present in this.

I used 1.25 tablespoons for 375 ml of water.

The longer infusion really brings out the flavour. I am reminded of the taste of baked goods or cookies.

I am still not a fan of the apple-mint combination. I feel that it results in an overall bitter taste and reminds me of when I eat fruit too soon after brushing my teeth.

Probably the most coconutty tea I’ve ever had. It almost feels like I’m drinking coco milk. The addition of mint creates a nice fresh feeling, both work really well together (who would have thought!). I’m happy they left this one so simple, because it shines just like that, without any complex flavour profile. I can easily see this as a dessert tea with the addition of a sweetener, but I’m glad they didn’t add any ingredient that would have made it such dessert tea (people can do that on their own!). It’s just so refreshing and comforting this way (I never, ever sweeten my teas). The apples probably add something to the flavour, but I don’t really taste them.

DT has been on fire lately! First Vanilla Orchid, then this… they are really hitting the spot with such simple yet delightful flavours, I’m impressed! Surely, this one is my favourite from the new winter collection (well, not counting Alpine Punch since it’s returning from last year…!).

From the Winter Collection tea kit.
This is an ok tea. I do wish that it had a more dominant coconut flavor though. And it seems to have a weird after taste…kind of chemically.

So would I get this again? Probably not…the Mint Chilla Chai Nilla from The Spice and Tea Exchange suffices my occasional cravings for mint creaminess.

Yeaaahhhh! I knew I would love this tea. Got my big order in the mail today and this is the first one I tried. I love it. I used one of the agave sticks in it, coconut, and it was really sweet but it was delicious! I love the mix of coconut and mint. I love both of those! They go together perfectly in this tea :) a new favorite!

This tea first got me because of the smell. I was in the store and decided to smell the winter collection teas. And honestly this one stood out the most smell-wise. It smelled like mint chocolate chip ice cream, so I had to get a 25g bag just to try it for that reason alone. When I got around to tasting it this morning I enjoyed the aroma whilst it was steeping. Then I tried it and found it quite yummy. That minty flavour is not way overpowering which is good and it just felt like I was at the ice cream parlour choosing my mint chocolate chip. I may have to go get a tin of this soon!

Along with my pot of Green and Fruity last night, I decided to have a mug of Cocomint Cream. And what a delight it was, it was like having an ice cream dessert. Yumm.

As soon as I stepped into the kitchen where this was steeping, BAM!!! Oh man, this smells so good. It’s minty more than anything, like plastic-coated candy canes at Xmas in all the best nostalgic ways. :P I really really really like this tea.

Then I made some of this tea when I thought I was probably past the worst of it and FELL ASLEEP WHILE IT WAS BREWING which is UNCOOL, as it is my favourite. :/ I hate being sick.

First tea post-blackout! 35hrs of colddddddd. Now? ALL THE TEA. Starting with one of my faves. <3

Kept me warmish while watching the child’s pony lesson, zomg, it was -15 before the sun went down… we were like ice cubes! This tea never fails though, especially when I can’t have caffeine and am feeling pouty about it. :P

I really need to get more herbal teas because I really just have this and mint, mostly. My black tea box is overflowing, on the other hand. >:D

Anyway, fave goodnite tea. <3

After-dinner tea! SO GOOD. Remains my fave. Sharing some with Kelly and seriously distressed about the amount we have left. Must order MOAR!!

Nom nom nom. I just ordered more of this tonight – a tinful! :D It’s my fave. Was really good after an iffy supper.. mint for the tummy, feeling much better now & waiting for apple crisp!

Bedtime snack! Never leave me, cocomint. Neverrrr.

This is an herbal tisane containing apple, coconut, peppermint, blackberry leaves, and the ubiquitous artificial flavoring. This attractive mixture of colorful ingredients has a strong aroma that brings to mind a York Peppermint Patty.

I brewed this tisane at a temperature just under boiling for 5 minutes, per the instructions. The resulting golden brown liquor is not nearly as aromatic or minty smelling as the dried pieces. Many of the tiny leaf and dust particles made it through the ceramic strainer.

Had I tasted this blindfolded, I would not have easily detected the coconut. Even concentrating, I get more of the floral/fruity undertone than the coconut. When I added a little bit of stevia I detected another underlying flavor, but I can’t identify it. The tea itself is satisfying, with a nice, smooth body, so I guess the “cream” part is apropos.

This isn’t bad. I might drink it after a meal or when I’m feeling chilled. Let’s just say that though I wouldn’t buy it myself, if I received it as a gift I would find time for it.

Not really getting anything other than mint…might just be the balance of ingredients is off in this steep and it was heavier on the mint.

Still pretty minty, but I am picking up something a little more mellow. Maybe that’s the coconut. I think I really need to get a bigger amount of this in the hopes that I get a more balanced blend of ingredients. I don’t actually think that I much (or any) coconut in my pouch, so I am willing to give more of this a try. It is helpful for upset tummies.

Had this again last night, after a full meal, when my stomach was getting upset. It was still more minty than anything else, though it was soothing for my tummy. Re-steeped this morning and maybe I can pick up a little coconut or creamy taste, but still not much. I noticed that my bag doesn’t seem to have a lot of coconut in it either.I might get more, if I can ensure a higher ratio of coconut to tea.

I really like this. it reminds me of northern lights, but better! I love mint teas, but they are hard to commit to when it comes down to picking which tea to make, so they end up staying in my cupboard for a while. But i have feeling this one won’t.
It’s very wintery :)

I got talked into this one by the salesgirl, and wasn’t jazzed at the thought of coconut and mint together-I associate mint teas with stomach upset, but this has turned into one of my favorite teas of all time in a latte! The dry leaf smells divine, creamy and minty, and I think the apple is critical to the balance in flavor. I made my first cup with a tbsp of agave and thought “nice”. A few days later I decided to try a few splashes of sugar free Carnation italian sweet creamer and-Oh Em Gee. Creammy coconutty minty paradise latte. What a find! I had to buy 2 tins because its out for the season now…

This is another sample I received. I’m noticing a trend: I am not a huge fan of teas that are heavy on mint. The predominant flavor is mint. I only get a very small hint of coconut with barely any fruity notes. It is a smooth tea though. This is not one I will be purchasing any time in the future.

Got this tea as a sample with my order from DAVIDsTEA and I’m SO glad I did. This tea is quite minty, but smooth, light, and sweet. I really enjoyed this and plan to get some more the next time I place an order. A pleasant surprise…

I love drinking this before bed. So cool and relaxing.

I mixed this one with Coco-Lemon Thai to stick in jars in the fridge today. WIN.

I’m drinking some cold now. It’s delicious!

Last night, I brewed up three mason jars of this to leave overnight in the fridge. So I’ve been drinking cold Cocomint Cream all day, and loving it. I ordered a tin of this yesterday, and am looking forward to drinking this more often. So good!

All of a sudden, this tea works for me.

I have been trying and trying and trying to learn to love this tea, because it just seems like something I SHOULD love… and tonight, I love it. I took my first steep and put it in a jar and stuck it in the fridge for tomorrow, and now I’m drinking the second steep slightly cooled with some ice cubes. It is seriously delicious, refreshing and creamy, and I am honestly considering ordering some more of this before it is gone.

Finally, Cocomint Cream. Finally.

Shared a cup of this with a friend tonight. For me, it tastes better as it cools, and I’m tempted to try it cold. Next time, I’m off to bed early.

I want to LOVE this tea, because coconut and mint are two of my favorite flavors, but it’s just not there for me. I’ve still got enough left for several more cups, and I enjoy how refreshing it is… I guess I just had really high hopes for it. It’s still a nice, caffeine-free treat before bed.

Okay, this is what I needed tonight. I came home early from the show, and I’m enjoying a cup of this with my evening snack before I go to bed. I am exhausted.

This tastes lovely and minty and creamy, and I love it.
