From DAVIDsTEA

Dough it up

One of the best things about winter is baking tons of cookies. Or more specifically, snacking on the cookie dough. But when you don’t have time to fire up the oven and get baking, this deliciously sweet white tea blend is the next best thing. With almonds, walnuts, caramel, brittle and chocolate chips, it’s like brewing up an instant sugar cookie. Only this version is even good for you – it’s the perfect guilt-free treat to get you through the winter. Don’t forget to lick the spoon! Limited edition.

Ingredients: White tea, cocoa peel, almonds, walnuts, cream caramel pieces, roasted cocoa brittle, chocolate chips, artificial flavouring*.

Allergens: Soy, dairy and tree nuts

My B-day was this past saturday (March 2nd. My 37th.) And my Dad asked what I wanted, (Tea, of course! Is there anything else? grins) So after thinking about it and looking at the gift sets on David’s Tea, I found that The Winter Collection had a few teas that I wanted to try, so I sent my Dad an email with a link to the gift set, it took him a few days to get to it, but finally he did, I asked to add 2 teas to the order (If I paid him for it of course! Jessie’s Tea and Coco Chai Rooibos. Was tempted to ask for more to get the free shipping, but no other tea had really impressed me that much, and I didn’t feel brave enough to order a full 50 g for a tea I hadn’t tried.)

Anyways, on to the tea: This was 1st on the list! I knew when I read the reviews of this tea that I had to try it and soon. I mean tea that tastes like cookie dough?!
1st smell: sweet, decadent, though there seemed to be a faint undertone of something funky and not to pleasant. I sit down to take my 1st sip.
It’s nice….though truthfully I cannot say that I am impressed. I am however, going to get some German rock sugar soon, so I’ll save the rest for that. Some teas just don’t respond well to sugar substitutes.

So I have literally been dying to try this tea because when I was little I remember the texture and taste of the dough left over from my mother’s baking..I would roll it into balls and drop them on my tongue the texture and sweetness I can still remember to this day and every time I am near baking of any kind I salivate in remembrance.

Of course dry it smells nothing like dough which worries me ..smells chocolaty sweet but has no resemblance to what my memory possesses.

I did a full 7 minute steep so full flavour should be the forecast.

Once steeped it smells smells sweet and malty bright notes of sweetness fill the air and the liquor in my glass mug is honey like with sediment. As it cools the aroma becomes more and more like cookie dough imagine my nostalgic delight! Not a perfect representation but it does the job nicely.

As for taste…..so light..creamy and sweet..it is like Buttercream but with less heaviness..I think this would be a lovely iced tea..I do wish it was heavier but it is lovely.

This tea is for people who crave sweet tea but don’t want to add sweetener. It is also for people who loved Buttercream.

Not sure if I will buy more I need to experiment with making it more everything..sweeter…maltier and heavier.

Meh. As predicted, after the beauty that was Oatmeal Raisin Cookie from Della Terra Teas, this cookie tea just didn’t hold up. The chocolate in it tastes like dark chocolate and it was ultimately forgettable. Meh. It got me through work and that’s about it. It was good, but I’m glad we only got a little of it.

Tina S.

I felt the same way about this one until I had it latted. That’s where it shines. Especially with vanilla soy.

I like DAVIDsTEA for their fun teas and cute tea names! Cookie Dough is surely a tea that will catch your attention. I mean, who doesn’t like cookies?? ;)

Opening the small packet of tea sample was like opening a jar of chocolate chip cookies. The rich aroma of cocoa raised my expectation for this tea – though I was sure that it would taste more like dessert than tea, just like most of the blends from DAVIDsTEA. And I saw a pretty large piece of walnut (would it release flavour when infused!?) in the sample!! I almost ate that right away!

As expected, I couldn’t really taste the tea base… I guess it wouldn’t make much difference to use white tea or oolong because the cup was completely dominated by flavours of cocoa, caramel and nuts. I might not know it contained tea if I didn’t brew it myself :P It’s sweet on the whole, though a few sips tasted bittersweet like coffee with milk and sugar. Wow… a great guilt-free teatime treat! Anyone has tried this with milk? I reckon that it will be magic!

Since there is no David’s Tea in Red Deer, a good friend of mine brought along some tea when she came to visit me this weekend. Thank goodness for awesome friends! When I saw this come up on the David’s Tea website, I knew I had to have it.

The dry scent is sublime. It’s definitely cookie dough, through and through. There was a half a walnut in the scoop, so I broke it into a few pieces to blend better with the rest of the tea.

Steeped, it really is like liquid cookie dough. Now, I’m not one for eating raw cookie dough (too afraid of raw eggs) but I’m all for sweet teas, especially those that moonlight as dessert. I like it plain, but a teeny bit of sugar brings out dough aspect for me. I’m going to have to take the other reviewers’ suggestions and try this as a latte as well :)

The tea filters I’d ordered from DavidsTea arrived, along with three samples. I’m not big on these kinds of sweet, dessert teas, but DavidsTeas is very creative and the teas are popular, so I was intrigued by these samples. This is a white tea with cocoa, almonds, walnuts, caramel, chocolate, and “artificial flavoring.”

My first impression was Wow wow wow! This is quite a concoction. Chunks of walnut in my teaspoon? I ate one- it tasted like it had been doused in the Artificial Flavoring.

The aroma – good Lord! Very pronounced and sweet, like entering an ice cream shop, or more like a Yankee Candles store. This is chocolate mint cookie dough with a hint of caramel.

I drank this first without additives. It was smooth and slightly sweet, and quite flavorful, with a weak nutty undertone overlaid with caramel and almond. Not sure I taste chocolate or cocoa. A little vanilla almond milk could turn this into a chai reminiscent of a caramel-colored milkshake.

So, after two mugs I feel like I’ve had a decadent dessert. This tea is a bit over the top, much like the holiday season. I guess that makes it perfect for a cold evening this time of year.

Yummy! I truly taste cookie dough when I sip this. It’s pretty sweet, as you would expect, it would actually serve to replace dessert if that’s what you were hoping to do. I think drinking this along with a cookie would actually be a sweetness overload! I will probably go out of my way to buy more of this before Davidstea gets rid of it forever!

Received some of this is a swap with shakirah1984, thanks again!
At first sniff I get something nutty or toffee like, but if I breathe a bit deeper… ah yes chocolate-chip cookie dough. Yum.
Taste wise, it’s not quite where I’d like it. I think it’s the nuts throwing me off again. There is some nice caramel in there, and a bit of cocoa. It’s good, just not sure I’d go out and buy a bunch. Glad I got to try a little sample first!

I feel like I’ve been so busy lately! With work and jamming with my new guitar buddy I have had absolutely NO time to log new teas. I was saving this one for my day off and it’s finally here! Thanks to DavidsTea for sending me a lovely sample.
The aroma of this tea is amazing. The flavor is even more amazing. It actually tastes like cookie dough. Seriously this tea is probably one of the best teas I’ve had in a while! I’m so happy I got to try it because I didn’t think it was going to be worth buying. Now I’m off to order some more :D

Another one from Courtney…I’ve been drinking the samples she sent me daily and somehow my tea cupboard still looks equally as full day after day. I’m not complaining in any way, but I’m worried that my teas are somehow multiplying…like that scene in Gremlins where Corey Feldman accidentally spills water on Gizmo and he multiplies into a bunch of mogwai…I don’t see how Gremlins and tea have anything to do with each other, but that’s where my brain went…

Anyway, I steeped the sample of Cookie Dough this morning. This was one of the samples I was really excited to try since I found out it was being sent to me, but due to all of the fantastic teas Courtney sent my way, I’m only now getting around to trying it…and it did not disappoint.

I have to admit, for some reason I assumed it was going to taste like chocolate chip cookie dough, as opposed to the million other types of cookie dough that are possible. And while I did find it tasted like a baked good of some sort, I don’t know if it was really all that cookie to me.

I really liked how all of the flavors blended together and that no flavor was overly powerful on its own. Unfortunately, I didn’t give this tea the time it deserved for me to smell it and try and pick out individual ingredients and flavors; I was too busy enjoying the warm deliciousness on this cold Nova Scotia day.

I’m pretty sour at DAVIDs TEA for not bringing this one back, as I understand it was a Winter Collection tea from a previous year(s). I also found out today that another favorite of mine from DAVIDs has been discontinued. Not impressed David. Not impressed.

I was also upset this one isn’t back this year :( Well, my fiance was haha!

I don’t blame him at all. I’m excited to try the winter/holiday teas from Davids…I’m hoping they’re as good as Cookie Dough was.
