Use your melon

Whether you’re looking for a pick-me-up or just a great tasting drink, steeping a cup of this tea is one of the smartest things you can do. For starters, it’s got green yerba maté, for a smooth-drinking, all-natural energy boost. Then it has green rooibos, which is packed with so much good stuff, it’s even better for you than regular rooibos. And on top of it all, it’s got the fresh, juicy taste of honeydew melon. Energizing, healthy AND delicious? This one’s a no brainer.

Ingredients: green yerba mate, green rooibos white hibiscus blossoms, melon pieces, natural flavouring.

Wow smells like honeydew. I am not a big mate fan so this is a great introduction. The tea once steeped tastes melonly and the mate isn’t overly strong…so not bad. Plus I am hoping the energy that one is supposed to get from mate will kick in…I am feeling a little sluggish this morning.

Teapop time! So I decided to try out DAVIDsTEA “soda tea” recipe that basically makes fizzy iced tea. I think my ratios were a bit off because I’m using a 20oz container instead of a 16oz one like the recipe. It’s definitely not bad though, and I’m not a huge fan of this tea anyway. My version is lacking in flavor a little bit which may be part tea and may be part recipe failure. I’ll definitely try this again with some other teas.

Come back Honeydew Mate!

I’d never tried any mate before and only got a little 25g pouch. Wasn’t completely sold on it t first, but it grew on me. While rummaging through my tea cupboard, trying to find teas I needed to finish up, I came upon my little bag of Honeydew Mate. In the spirit of summer I tried it iced, and promptly died a little inside.

Please come back…you’re delicious :(

This is by far the best Mate I’ve had yet. The mate and green rooibos are very subtle, and go well with the Honeydew flavour. Mid sip it tastes like there’s sweetener in it, but only for a brief moment. Perfect for a morning pick me up.

I really wanted to try a mate tea, and I love honeydew
so I gave this a try as soon as the new spring collection came out
(along with Pom Tango)

Smell:
Dry, this smells just like honeydew.
when steeped, it becomes an artificial taste like a honeydew bubble gum

Taste:
It was nothing like I’ve ever tasted before..Definately different.
It’s not sweet enough, and felt like I’m drinking chewed up honeydew bubble gum.
Has a distant taste, (if that makes sense.)
Something I wouldn’t mind drinking, but probably would not have a craving for it.

I enjoyed Pom Tango much more than this tea.
I do not have a sophisticated tastebud for teas yet..so don’t rely on this review too much.
Plus, tea preference is really personal right?
:)

Taste a little too much sweet for me but it’s a very good one. This tea smell like heaven, it taste a lot honeydew melon, but we lose the taste of the tea in those sweets flavors. Tried both hot and cold.

So by the time I arrived back in the country, all of the Spring collection was gone :( Except this one! Which was awesome, because this one is the one that I was truly excited to try! I love mate with all of my heart, it is likely me favourite kind of “tea” even though its not even technically tea at all!

I was so excited that DAVIDs released another fruity mate blend, because Simply the Zest had become a daily staple but every once and a while, a girl just wants to mix it up!

And here are my prayers answered, I love it! It smells and tastes exactly like honeydew melon- a lovely summery and refreshing taste. 2nd steep was just as fantastic, could probably have gone for a third!

This is my new favourite tea! I was so excited to see this tea on the David’s Tea spring collection – honeydew is my favourite fruit and I needed some more mate variety. This one did not disappoint. It actually tastes like honeydew. It isn’t too sweet which is also great.
