From DAVIDsTEA

If you want a taste of the Kentucky Derby, the best place to start is a mint julep. So ice yourself a cup of this little number and hang on to your hat. With black tea, spearmint and lemon peel, it’s smooth and refreshing right out of the gate. Add a creamy touch of pineapple and coconut, and you’ve got a cool summer drink that’s best in class. Try it with a sprig of fresh mint, a splash of bourbon and lots of cracked ice. Trust us – it’s a winner.

Black tea, rooibos, spearmint, pineapple, coconut, lemon peel, natural and artificial flavouring*.

Contains coconut

Dry Leaf Nose: Mint, coconut and creamy caramel with a touch of citrus.

Liquor: Golden brown, clear cup with a slightly minty, creamy and sweet aroma, underpinned with a very delicate citrus.

Flavour: Very creamy and sweet with mint and citrus notes. There is a buttercream note in the cup that is prevalent, satisfying and lingers on the palate well.

Merlin tea time. Don’t think I’ve had a julep before. If it smells like this, I want one. The minty/ tropical scent is what interested me in the store. Mmm… the flavour is fruit and mint. Without the mint being too strong.

(Maybe I need to have it cold, with rum.)

I had the same thought about the rum!

It is really good cold, but I have no rum.

Sipdown of this tea today. I guess lots of the coconut sunk to the bottom of the bag because the pot I made was pretty creamy coconut with a little hint of mint and lemon. I actually preferred it this way! I didn’t really get any pineapple this time, but it was fine without it.

Cold-brewed all 25g of this in my new Takeya ice tea pitcher. (Hooray for new toys!)
It’s the perfect summer iced tea. Cool and refreshing. Mint is the prominent flavor, with a little bit of creaminess (I assume from the coconut), and – faintly in the background – a bit of juicy fruitiness.

The rooibos and fruit serve to make it plenty sweet on its own. No extra sugar or sweetener needed.

Iced

This is from a swap with ashleyef. My tonsilitis is kicking in again:( probably from my early 4am shifts at the bakery, and when I get there its usually 40 or below so I bundle up for the mornings and shed my layers as it ironicly get over 100 by the end of my shift. Anyways, I immediately reached for this because of the spearmint, but I will not rate this for now because my tatse is off right now but I could definitely FEEL the spearmint. Thank you for this ashleyef I will have to try it again soon.

This in an interesting blend for sure. It sort of tastes like a heartier version of Cocomint Cream. This is definitely something that works better cold, or iced, rather than hot, but it is ok lukewarm too.

It is juicy, minty, light, and refreshing. I think that I will enjoy the rest of my small sample, and I might restock this.

I can not believe how much I have come to love this tea after the rocky start it and I had… I think I you learn so much as you drink different types of tea and learn what ingredients taste like. When I first tasted this tea, I didn’t really understand what this particular combination of ingredients would taste like. I saw mint and citrus and my mind omitted the peel and all I could think was great- mojito! End result, not mojito… That being said, this is such a wonderful black tea. It can brew for ages and not get bitter. There are definite hints of coconut and citrus peel to help make the mint a little more unique. It is great hot, it is good cooling down, sometimes it even merits a cold steep.

I am not the biggest spearmint fan in the world, but this is a really nice version of spearmint tea. This is another staple I love to carry around in my tea traveller!

So my birthday is tomorrow …I will be 31 ..what an odd feeling.

Let us start off the festivities with this tea that is in the new summer collection from DT. My Bff told me she really liked it so I’m anxious to give it a try. Hot first only a teaspoon to avoid bitterness.

First off the smell is out of this world totally original. It is minty and lemony and creamy. Sexy but like a very fresh sexy. I want to get naked in the sun with this tea..Blasting Sigur Ros and Cibbo Matto ..stay there waiting for the sun to drop behind the horizon letting the sun-kissed skin cool in tan sticky sand.Wearing big shades. A book resting at my side….if it smells THIS damn good and transports me so much it better be a teagasm.

First sip…I’m in love ..beautifully arranged ingredients… Almost floral with minty after kisses ..leaves a minty after taste on your sated taste buds. This is the tea of summer I can feel it. It is summer in a cup.

This needs a good icing but it’s perfect hot..so having it iced may indeed blow my mind. It has been a while since I’ve enjoyed a new DT this much. I think this is a new staple and I must have 100grams asap.

What a perfectly arranged tea. Happy Birthday to me,indeed.CAN’T WAIT TO TRY IT ICED.

Finally made it into DT to check out the summer collection. The staff said they had “tons of stock” ( I was worried they would sell out, if I really liked it ) and I did like the minty smell, so I got 50 grams.

Brewed up and really taste the mint! I loved Santa’s Secret, but this one is cool tasty spearmint. Lots of spearmint! I didn’t get any coconut or fruit…..but that’s ok. I had it with a little rock sugar and a splash of half & half…..very refreshing……think I am going to make another cup…..this would be a good " drink at work" tea, I think……
