Think Pink

When life gives you lemons, reach for this zippy hot pink blend. One sip is enough to turn any frown upside down. Not only is it packed with rooibos, hibiscus and other good-for-you stuff, it’s also unbelievably delicious any way you drink it. Served hot, it’s a tart and tasty throat soother. On ice, it’s an addictively tangy summer refresher. And if you really want to take it to the next level, freeze it into ice cubes and blend them up with some agave and a splash of vodka. Hello, grown-up slushie.

Ingredients: Hibiscus, mango, rooibos, lemon peel, lemon myrtle, lemongrass, stevia, cornflower petals, natural and artificial lime, lemon and sugar cane flavouring.

My mom was VERY nice to me, and mailed this (and a few other teas) to me in Dublin. I’m still on the fence with rooibos tea in general, but I REALLY enjoyed this tea. I found it the perfect amount of sweetness with nothing added (coming from a girl who always puts a dash of sugar in her tea). I made it cold, I would be hesitant to have it hot, though; don’t know if I would enjoy it as much.

I’m on the fence with rooibos also, but every time I get close to writing it off, I find one that I don’t mind. I’m glad you enjoyed this one

My stomach has been spasming for over 24 hours now, luckily the morphine knocks out the pain, but I can still feel the clenching feeling in the pit of my abdomen. To make matters worse, my doctor is on maternity leave and the one replacing her doesn’t have an opening until July. JULY!! Not to mention that I need to refill me prescription and that involves trucking the whole family on an excursion across town to do so.

I need tea and I need it now.

During my last visit to DT I picked up the 50g bag of this, since it’s caffeine-free and fruity I figured I could give it to my toddler daughter if I don’t like it. Sadly, she won’t be tasting much of this since I happen to looooooooove it, especially as a TeaPop, which seems to be my method-de-jour for brewing tea lately. Forget iced tea… making teapop takes it to a whole other level! I don’t get the metallic taste everyone talks about, nor does the stevia bother me. Instead I taste smooth, delicious Pink Lemonade that refreshes and quenches. It’s the perfect summer thirst-buster, plus it’s not as pricey as some of the fruitier summer teas!

Now, to get this stomach issue under control (gallbladder? Sphincter of Oddi? Pyloric Spasm?), so that the 6 years of mysterious pain can finally come to an end…

Iced 8 min or more

I see they’re marketing this to kids now… haha, ahead of the trend over here!

A co-worker gave me her sample of this. She doesn’t drink herbals, and knows that I do somewhat, so she thought I might like this. I think this is from the summer collection. But it’s something I would’ve avoided since it has artificial flavoring in it. We live in a world full of so much chemicals, that I feel like I need to take control somewhere, and so therefore I refuse to touch tea with artificial flavors in it. But she already gave me this, and one cup won’t kill me, so I decided to give it a go.

The smell of the dry leaf was really really good. Smells exactly like actual pink lemonade. The liquor is frighteningly dark. It’s pretty, but since there’s hibiscus in this and it’s this dark, my mouth is puckering just at the thought.

Turns out it’s nowhere near as tart as I was expecting, which is a relief. At first the taste is pretty good. Pretty much tastes like hot pink lemonade, but then at the swallow the chemical taste kicks in, along with something foul.

It turns out there’s stevia in this and I think that’s what’s causing the foulness. I just realized that stevia was also in the coffee chai I tried about an hour ago, which was probably what was giving me that weird banana-medicine taste. A few more sips in, and now that weird sickly sweetness is all I can taste. Blech. I won’t be finishing this, it’s making me feel nauseated.

Dear DavidsTea, please don’t put stevia into your teas. :( I’d rather have the choice of whether or not to sweeten my teas than have you decide for me.

I need to get that taste out of my mouth. Time for a cup of Peppermint Patty from Butiki! :)

I don’t know about this one.. they list mango as an ingredient, but I was like whatevs, it didn’t look like there was even any, so I drank it…. nothing happened.. I was right on that, not a big enough quantity to do anything. I am not a fan of this tea though, that’s for sure. It is far too fake sweet.. it doesn’t even taste like lemonade lol… or tea for that matter… it kind of tastes like i’m drinking straight up stevia…. nasty.

Number 5 of Another travelling tea box

When I opened the package I was met with a disgusting skunky odor. I dreaded trying the tea, but the aroma rising from the cup was pleasant: pure lemonade. Nice lemony taste. Surprisingly sweet, since I didn’t add sugar. Not much finish. All in all pretty good, but not any better than commercial lemon decaf tea.

I’ve really been craving an iced tea since I tried Redberry Tonic at DAVIDs last week, so I finally got off my ass and made myself one. I decided to try DAVIDs Pink Lemonade as I thought it would be a nice, fruity tea to start with. Yum! I really loved this tea iced and drinking it at a cooler temperature took away the Neocitrin taste I find it has when served hot.

After drinking two large glasses of iced Pink Lemonade tea, I realized that this tea may becoming a bit sickening if consumed too frequently. I’ll have to ensure that I don’t steep this too often as I really don’t want to get sick of it and would love to enjoy it in the summer months.

I just got a free cup of this with my purchase thanks to the absolutely lovely Davids people! It’s pink! How lovely! I don’t love the actual tea as much: It’s almost cloyingly sweet, more like, well, pink lemonade powder. As in, it tastes fake. But it does taste EXACTLY like pink lemonade, so, success on that count, and if you like pink lemonade then you’ll probably like this.

I had a Pink Lemonade at DT to go today since I’ve been meaning to try it (even though I’m not usually a fan of rooibos teas). I can see why people don’t like it – if you don’t have a taste for stevia, this would taste extraordinarily metallic. However, the stevia doesn’t bother me (but I use stevia fairly often at home). I like it! Sure, it’s sweet. But it’ll be a nice addition to my summer iced tea collection (once I stock up). Couldn’t imagine this one hot though…
