Everyone is allowed to look down on me in shame because I’ve never had legit matcha before.
I JUST DON’T KNOW WHERE TO GET IT and I’m like kinda sorta afraid to try it because I don’t know how it tastes but I’VE TOTALLY HAD MATCHA FLAVOURED STUFF BEFORE AND IT’S OH SO GOOD so I know I like it.
But yeah. Will buy matcha the next time I see it in the store. I know certain places have it… I just.. the nearest place is like 40 minutes away from me sooo yeah not gunna happen.

I was a bit hesitant on buying David’s because I knew I wanted a Timolino, and that’s already $30 so might as well go for the free shipping. But dude. $50 in one go? I decided to go for it and I made sure to add this chocolate into my cart! Ahh THIS IS SO GOOD. Nice and creeeeammyyyyy :) I kinda wish I bought the other chocolates as well.
I’ve had green tea chocolate before. My mom’s coworker took a visited her daughter in Japan one summer (This was like… over 5 years okay. I was in like middle school so that was like… yeah waaaay over 5 years ago!) and she brought home Green Tea Kit-Kat! DUDE THOSE WERE SO GOOD. They might actually the best kit-kats I’ve ever had aND THEY ONLY SELL THEM IN JAPAN.

So when I saw that David’s had a Matcha flavoured chocolate, I was all YES. MINE. NOW. GIVE ME.

And today, we actually made fresh pasta dough in professional cooking. Dude. I want to make Matcha pasta soon. Like making fresh dough is SO EASY OKAY. Flour, egg, a bit of seasoning. Just cut it all together and put it through the pasta roller and BAM. FRESH PASTA.

But yes. This chocolate. It’s $5 but IT IS OH SO WORTH IT.

Hello.Kiki

I haven’t tried matcha yet either. Looking at all the different reviews though definitely makes me want to try some!! That chocolate sounds lovely though!

I’m not a fan of white chocolate even at the best of times, so my opinion about this chocolate bar is going to be very biased. That said: this flavour, to me, is best treated as an experiment.

The mix between the white chocolate and matcha is pretty good, as both are evident – or at least they were to me. My mother, who is not a tea drinker and has no experience with matcha, didn’t taste anything besides white chocolate because she didn’t know what to look for.

However, just because you can taste both doesn’t mean that they they taste well together. The sweetness of the white chocolate doesn’t complement the flavour of the matcha at all. The matcha has a salty taste to it, and even reminded me of roasted seaweed on the back of my tongue. The white chocolate is just sweet and bland. Together, they don’t work well at all.

So, bottom line: I tried it just to say I did, but didn’t like it. Blech.

I love white chocolate. I even love it after a chocolate snob friend of mine scolded me for calling it chocolate when it has no cocoa and is really only a candy confection. Even so, I think white chocolate is the way to go with matcha.

The chocolate is sweet and creamy with pairs nicely with the matcha. The matcha is strong and present, but not bitter like it can get at times. The end of the bite is getting into overly sweet territory, but falls just short of too much. I’d love to see what deliciousness could be made with some of the flavored matchas that are out there. I’m glad to have tried this, but I don’t know that I will need another bar after this one. It is so rich that it will take some time to eat through!

I like white chocolate as well.

If you like sweet white chocolate and matcha tea, you will like this. I’ve been addicted to matcha smoothies lately – so much so that my little jar that was full about two days ago is now nearly empty. I went to replenish my stash at David’s and as I was waiting to pay I decided to take the plunge and grab a couple chocolate bars – this one for me and a different one for the mister (who has yet to try his). I think it’s creamy and I full of tea flavour. Could it be less sweet? Yes…but then again white chocolate is always on the very sweet side. It hit the spot to satisfy my dessert craving and I will likely buy another one when I’m feeling rich. They’re kind of expensive..that’s the only downside really.

I need to bump the rating of this up. I would say I can’t believe the rating is so low, but there are only three ratings, so it hasn’t had much of a chance.

I wanted to pick this up when they came out but I was (and still am) on a diet so I stopped myself. I went to go grab one just before valentines day and they were sold out! I was so sad! But then I read some of the reviews and thought maybe it was for the best. But I went into the store this week and noticed they were back :) I mentioned to the sales lady that is was poorly rated on steepster and she was genuinely surprised, she said it was all the employees favourite one. So I went for it! I also had to pick up a second one of course, 2 for $10! I picked up the cream of earl grey dark chocolate because dark chocolate is my fave! I also love white chocolate! I love milk chocolate too, but not as much as the other two so I usually only pick it up when I find one with an interesting flavour.

Having one square of this tonight as a treat. When you’re on a diet you have to shock your body once in a while with some sugar, just to keep it in check ;) Wow this is good! Like a really sweet and creamy green tea ice cream! I love green tea ice cream and I think I love this more. I am going back to the store to buy 2 more of these to keep in the freezer for later!

This morning before my first day of work I intercepted a MASSIVE package from aisling of tea/De right before the mailman was about to leave (without knocking). I only noticed because I was up in the bootroom trying to find my work shoes. If I hadn’t bee, he’s have left and I’d have been none the wiser.

Seriously though, there’s well over 250g worth of tea from what they sent me including a TON of matcha which I’m very, very excited by. I’m going to be set on matcha for a nice long time! Hooray! They also sent me the cutest most adorable plush Polar Bear and he’s currently hanging out on the couch along with my pile of build a bears.

Anyway, this was also included in their swap pack which was very unexpected and which I was really excited by. It was the first “tea” I had all day. However, sadly I didn’t really like it too much.

Personally, I ADORE white chocolate. I even, around Easter, would put in special requests to the “Easter Bunny” to only received white chocolate eggs/candies because I can’t stand other hard chocolate in larger than a Hershey kiss size amount – I get sick of it way too quickly. However, the problem I had with this was that it was WAY too sweet and sugary.

Like, I know white chocolate is sweet; I’m not an idiot. But this took it to a whole new level and I couldn’t finish more than a bite size this morning and then another small bite size later in the evening with supper while on break. It likely didn’t help that the matcha in this was super seaweedy, which was mostly counteracted by the sweet white chocolate but kinda left an unpleasant aftertaste in my mouth on top of the sweetness.

So, I’m going to see if I can pass this on to someone else – but if not I’ll probably very slowly finish it off over the course of the next few days. Thanks so much though aisling of tea/De – if you haden’t passed this along I would have bought a whole bar for myself and then been pretty disappointed, so I’m glad I got to try this in a ‘no risk/loss’ way.

So I am glad I got you the Cadbury bar instead of this. It being sold out was a sign :P

Daddyselephant

Yay! I’m glad the package made it to you!

Yeah, I had a similar reaction to this chocolate bar, although you were much gentler about it than me. I just thought the sweet/salty combination (especially the seaweed notes) didn’t work at all.

So much matcha wow! I actually quite like it, but I think that I will be making my own with cocoa butter and coconut oil and stevia or honey to sweeten. I can feel the dairy already. Darn food intolerances!
