From DAVIDsTEA

You might think tea drinking is a pretty tame pastime, but we like to imagine every new cup is an adventure. Don’t believe us? Try a sip of this exotic, fruity tisane and see where it takes you. Maybe you’ll find yourself floating in a violet-tinted lagoon, perfumed with fresh blueberries. Or perhaps you’ll be sunning yourself on a remote beach, digging into a freshly picked pineapple. Wherever you get whisked away, one thing is certain: you’re going to want to go there again.

Ingredients:
Candied pineapple (pineapple, cane sugar, citric acid, sulfur dioxide), blueberries, lemongrass, elderberries, cornflower petals, natural and artificial flavouring.

Price per 50g: $7.50

Something about this blend is not sitting right with me. My friend thought it tasted like medicine but I am not getting that either. I get blueberry at the start of the sip then a hint lemongrass and it ends with sweet pineapple. I just can’t but feel that it is missing something though to bring all the flavors together.

Is there stevia in this?!? That is what is off to me. Something tastes like artificial sweetener in this blend.

MissB

No stevia that I saw, but there is something not quite right in it for me either. I had one cup and the rest I’ll pass along.

VariaTEA

I think I may follow suit. I will probably try cold brewing first.

Ubacat

Stevia isn’t artificial. It’s a natural sweetener but there may be artificial flavouring in there that you’re picking up. I

OMGsrsly

Stevia tastes like artificial flavour to some people. I can only deal with it in very small amounts before the taste is apparent.

VariaTEA

I know stevia is natural however, it tastes almost like aspartame to me a lot of the time. I suppose they could have put a different sweetner in but I mentioned stevia specifically because I know DAVIDs is a fan of it.

I’m drinking it cold this morning despite the snow storm outside (how many more of these do we have to go through until winter is finally over?)

Hot, it was yellow and tasted more pineapple than blueberry. Cold, it’s purple and tastes a looooot like blueberry. I love this blend.

I don’t know if it is just me, but I find this tea super, super sweet. I have tried it a couple of times now and I continue to be almost overwhelmed by the sweetness. I think I banked too much on the pineapple lending a note of tartness, because this is not the taste I had imagined when I heard what was in it. I don’t necessarily really dislike it, I am just getting used to the notion of what it really is, compared to my expectations. I need to try this cold steeped and see what I think then.

MissB

I found it ridiculously sweet as well.

This tea has an heavenly smell. I wanna eat it, wash my hair with it, put it on my clothes, I’m crazy about the smell. And… it tastes what it smells, but in 2 distinct parts. First, a lemon-y flavour. Then, a good blueberry aftertaste. It’s delicious, but I suggest steeping it stronger and longer because – and that’s my negative point – the taste is really too light if you follow the recipe.

A lovely alternative to Blueberry Jam if you have people who cannot enjoy caffeine. It has all the flavor of the tea without the compromise. The pineapple itself lends to the natural sweetness of the berry while the delicate flower keeps the hue of the elixir as soft as the morning sky. I could imagine strolling through a hillside of green like Gene Kelly in the musical Brigadoon, complete with the singing and dancing. I hope the tea fills you with that energy as well.

Yummy! Smelly lovely, tastes lovely. I might hate it in a week but so far I really love it hot, cold isn’t so great.

I picked up 100g of this going on the smell alone and after my first cold brew? Mmmm. Excellent decision, self! It was delicious! I tend to cold brew the majority of my fruit-based teas and I decided I needed a new flavour to balance out my stash of Bear Trap and Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait. Love the pineapple and blueberry flavours, and I see myself getting more of this and mixing it in with other flavours to get some awesome fruit iced teas! :)

This smells like candy, tastes like candy, and needs zero sweetener added to it, it’s got that much sugar already in it. Having said that, it’s far from cloying. I preferred it hot over cold (just had a sip now with a tiny bit left from last night) and all I got was blueberry soap… ugh.. so definitely better hot. I could see my kids downing this as a juice replacement – although I have to question just how much sugar there is in here. As well, each sip I have, I have a mild allergic reaction (mild in that I can feel an allergic reaction, yet fail to break out in hives, have heart palpitations, or anything else that severe… it’s just the buildup). I’m assuming this is from the sulphites – which are listed on the bag that I bought, however not on the website. So, sulphite haters, be warned! :)

Ooh yeah, I like this one! Tastes a lot like Blueberry Jam, only the sweetness is coming from the candied pineapple instead of gross added stevia.

Depending on how well it does as a cold brew, I might get a tin. Maybe. I mean, I’m up to 258 now (just the non-samples are in Steepster) and there’s INCOMING from 4 people. So. Uhh. Hmm.

nom non nom I might get a full tin of this too!

Plunkybug

From what I could tell last night, I think I like it, but it was hard to tell as I was fighting mouthal issues (possibly from the cough syrup that I’ve been taking) that were competing with the flavour and altering my perception. I def want to try this again, and I do think it will cold brew up quite nicely.

OMGsrsly

You do like Blueberry Jam, right? If so, you’ll probably really like this one too. The cold brew is looking good, but it’s time to go sleep. :)

Plunkybug

Yes, I do, generally. I sort of go through phases with it.

This tea was just ok, it tasted fine but the problem was that it was more or less a weaker version of Blueberry Jam, which I loved. In general, I was only ok with this tea, and therefore would not recommend it.
