From DAVIDsTEA

How it tastes:
Tart dark berry flavor with a deep lingering sweetness from the beetroot. The more you sip, the more you taste the beets

This refreshing fruit and veg maté was born for Saturday night dance-offs. What makes it so good? It’s packed with invigorating ingredients that’ll get any party started—from sweet and succulent beetroot to nutrient-rich superfruits like goji and blackberries. Add in a pop of energizing guarana and green yerba maté and you’ll be moonwalking in seconds. Hot or iced, it’s pretty hard to beet.

What makes it great
• Feeling stressed? Beets contain betaine, a substance said to relax the mind.
• We added a base of energizing maté for a deliciously fresh pick-me-up.

Ingredients: Apple (apple, citric acid), Raisins, Hibiscus blossoms, Beetroot, Elderberries, Carrot, Green maté, Goji berries, Aronia berries, Natural and artificial wildberry flavouring, Blackberries, Red currants, Guarana seeds, Raspberries, Cornflower blossoms.

A favorite of mine, especially iced on a stormy hot day. Hope it returns soon!

I was concerned that it might be too hibiscusy, but I needn’t have been. There are so many lovely berries in this that you really don’t taste the hibiscus.

This is the sixth maté tea I’ve tried, and I’ve enjoyed all of them. Since it’s claimed to have health benefits, I just may have to watch for more flavours.

Sipdown! (18 | 234)

Mastress Alita’s Sipdown Challenge (September) – “A tea from a tea swap/traveling tea box”

I picked this one up from a TTB last month, so I figured I would sip it down for this prompt. I’m not usually a huge fan of fruit tisanes (which this basically is, despite containing maté) but I find this one to be well-balanced. The hibiscus is just the right amount and it complements the fruity flavors well, and the wildberry flavor is juicy and refreshing. I don’t really taste much maté, but I’ve just been treating this as a fruit tisane and enjoying it that way.

I’m not sure I would order it, but it was nice to sip through for the summer!

Starting to get back into cold brewing more often now that it’s so incredibly hot. Hibiscus is hit or miss for me, but it’s done right here. It works harmoniously with the other ingredients, and doesn’t distract or overwhelm the other flavors. It’s full of juicy berry flavors- mostly raspberry and blackberry. I don’t get any beet flavor, just a nice tart berry.

Kiki:

“Oh boy! whispering What is that smell?? Candy, candylike. louder It tastes like strawberry jello. Am I close? hehe Strawberry or raspberry. Tastes very fruity. It’s very pleasant. It’s like drinking jello water before it sets. whispers I like it. It’s so sweet. It’s up there, it’s up there in the eights. It’s the wildberry flavor that we’re tasting burp and smelling, isn’t it? It’s a berry tea.”

derk:

I’m stealing a few sips. It definitely smells tangy, like strawberry jello. Yup, hot strawberry jello water. Boring. Huge list of ingredients. Why do I taste nothing? Nothing bad but nothing.

#tiffanys2021sipdown Tea #105 overall / Tea #21 for March #drinkwhatyouown Feb 13/25

Weds 3/17/21 (WRITTEN 3/21) — DavidsTea Just Beet it. Back when this tea came out with the orchard collection in fall of 2017 (?) there was a 12 piece sampler set with mini tins (enough for one hot cuppa) that I got a few as GWP. Made a quick hot & plain cuppa with the little tin of this tin. I just kind of gulped it down so I don’t remember if it was still as tasty as I remember?? In past when this tea came out, I was loving it, but it’s been a while and now I have it collecting in pitcher packs, tins, bags, etc. so, I’ll have plenty of opportunity to know for sure.

This seems a bit overly tart hibiscus at first taste. A very tart fruit punch. But as the tea lingers in my mouth, I’m getting a slight beet aftertaste as if someone spiked the punchbowl with freshly squeezed beet juice. Also lingering is a metallic aftertaste, but its not that bad. I meant to try this iced, though its a bit late in the season for iced tea here, I’m sure it would be pretty good.
It’s not something I’d reach for again, but certainly is worth a sipdown.

This tea had come with a set I bought, and I was not sure how much I would enjoy it at first. It had a very strong and very fruity smell, once brewed. After the first sip I was taken back by how much I enjoyed it. It had a fruity strong taste, that made me feel like I could go out and do anything. I do not taste too much of the beet which in my opinion is good because I have never really enjoyed beetroot.

I plan to enjoy the rest of this tea and will probably purchase more at some point because I really do enjoy it, it just is not something I need to go pick up more of this weekend.
