From DAVIDsTEA

Cool sophistication

You won’t want anything else for dessert when you taste this tea. Even the aroma is totally satisfying. Minty fresh, with hints of dark chocolate and rich vanilla. Pour it and admire the coppery red of the rooibos, filled to the brim with antioxidants. Then take a sip and sink into its velvety sweetness. You can’t help but fall in love.

Sipdown (199/202)!

It took me a while, but I finally finished off the sample I received of this from VariaTEA. This cup I drank cold, and it was pretty good – definitely more chocolate than I’ve come to expect from this one. Overall, this tea was less than impressive but not exactly unpalatable either. Occasionally it tasted metallic, which was weird.

VariaTEA

So I shouldn’t send this along again? :P

Roswell Strange

No thank you :p I will live just fine without it.

VariaTEA

I am trying to get rid of it. I get the metallic taste and it leaves me unimpressed. One day, one day someone will want this tea…I hope.

my boyfriend just popped his head in my door saying “it smells like chocolate in here”
the power of the tea!!

the mint is a little fresh pinch at the end of a sip. the balance of chocolate and vanilla is a tad off from perfect. cuz i think i might like more chocolate. MOAR!! but it’s just not that kind of tea is it.
no no, this is a classy and patient tea.

this tea is extremely gentlemanly. pleased to meet you Mr. Wentworth.

Miss Starfish

I’ve been putting it off… The past season was just so sad! Do you think it’s a skip-able episode or no?

gmathis

Do watch it! (No spoilers, but some very conclusive things happen!)

Bee

My reaction to the episode exactly :/

Em

I agree with gmathis!!

Linda

I haven’t even seen it yet but thanks to Radio Times’ twitter, I know and I’m avoiding it as long as I can!

Miss Starfish

Oh man… I just finished and… yes… conclusive. Hmmm.

Shmiracles

controversial opinion warning…. i think i’m over downton abbey. like i’m-not-gonna-watch-it-any-more-and-i-don’t-even-care-what-happens-next over it. which is good cuz i need to reduce my tv watching anyways!
oh but i take that back cuz i will duh have to come back to visit Branson.

i’ll talk about it more once all of the episodes have shown state-side though. i don’t wanna be the spoiley spoiler!!

gmathis

Nurturing my D.A. withdrawal with Call the Midwife. New season set to begin on March 31. Different era (late 50’s/early 60’s London); equally good!

Shmiracles

i JUST finished Call The Midwife 2 days ago! i stayed up til 2am sunday night cuz i didn’t wanna stop watching i had so much fun!

gmathis

I love the Miranda Hart (Chummy) storyline!

Shmiracles

me too, so much. just having her on screen and smiling made me happy. all of them were so endearing!

ohfancythat

Downton Abbey. Yeah. Sigh.

I can taste the rooibos in this tea…I don’t love rooibos. I think the woodiness of the rooibos in this tea is a tad strong. This tea reminds me of the smell of landscaping cedar chips on a rainy day, with a touch of mint. Although I like the smell of cedar chips, it’s not something I want in a tea. Honestly, I didn’t like the first sip of this tea, but by the fourth or fifth sip I liked it enough to say it’s decent. I can taste the chocolate if I think of it, but it’s far from obvious. I don’t regret trying this tea, but I don’t see myself repurchasing it once my little sample is done.

Yesterday my sweet mom decided to get me a little Valentine’s Day present – the new design Perfect Mug from Davids. :) She also treated me to a small sample of this tea and Cherry Blossom. I just love my mom to death despite everything.

As for this tea…not bad, I don’t mind it. Reminds me of a very sweet and woody After Eight chocolate mint. Unfortunately my stomach isn’t really agreeing with it right now – I feel a little queasy. :(

Gotta run though – longer review to follow with my next tasting.

Awww, what a nice thing to do, your mom is great! What does the new mug look like?

Ana

That’s so awesome of your mom. :D I was thinking of picking up a sample of this and compare it to DTT’s Swiss Mountain Rooibos.

keychange

I’m also curious about how the new mug looks!

TheTeaFairy

Lol, keychange, we both seem to have a vast interest for teaware…

Yvonne

It’s the pink one with the birds! I have the Christmas red one with the birds as well so it’s perfect :)

Plunkybug

I got the love birds mug yesterday! I love the design….soooo freaking adorable!

I like chocolate………I like mint……..I like vanilla…..

Really, what is there not to like in this blend. Great for dessert! Nice and smooth, and all 3 flavours make an appearance.

mmmm…bedtime!

I’m pretty happy with this! Though a lot of people say that you can steep rooibos indefinitely with no ill effects, I think that over steeping can definitely create a sour wood flavor. I think this was perfect at 5 and a half minutes. It’s earthy and just minty enough with some smooth desserty wanna be chocolate flavor. It’s the same fake chocolate taste in Super Chocolate that I didn’t like, but it works better in this tea. Perhaps the mint compensates for the lack at the same time that the rooibos keeps the mint in check. This tea is pretty well balanced.
I think that over time, I’ll probably get tired of this tea. I mean, I always get tired of flavored teas and run back to unflavored at some point. But for now, this is definitely tasty and soothing for the tummy.

This probably would have been awesome blended with the choco*late tea! Too bad I just finished that. Argh!

Sipdown! 207/365!

One of the least offensive rooibos’ I’ve had, and one of the better teas containing mint. I actually might even like this one, although I’m not terribly likely to just want to drink it out of the blue (yep, still playing DT roulette). Definitely drinking it out of season, though…

Drinking the last I have of this one tonight. And . . . it’s lacking something. I think I’m comparing it to Read My Lips and am wishing I was drinking that instead. This one isn’t bad, it just isn’t as good. I think it is on the online-only reserve list that came out recently, too, so I’m pretty sure this is where I will part ways with this one. Fare thee well, Mint Chocolate Rooibos.

Sipdown #57

I really dislike red rooibos. But I can never turn down trying a new tea. So, I brewed this one up with only 1 tsp for 3 minutes. And you know what? It’s not horrible! LOL!

The mint and chocolate flavors are stronger than the base. But I still get that little twinge in the front of my forehead that reminds me this is rooibos. It feels similar to the start of a headache. So, I’ll drink this cup and then pass along the remainder to a friend. I always enjoy trying new things though, and this tea surprised me. Thanks to Shmiracles for sharing her stash!

I have a tummy ache and this is the only thing I have in the house remotely like a sleepytime or a tummy tamer. It seems to be doing the trick, but I’ll have to pick up some sleepytime tomorrow at the grocery to have some in the house.
