Mint Chocolate Rooibos

Rooibos Tea by DAVIDsTEA

Cool sophistication
You won’t want anything else for dessert when you taste this tea. Even the aroma is totally satisfying. Minty fresh, with hints of dark chocolate and rich vanilla. Pour it and admire the coppery red of the rooibos, filled to the brim with antioxidants. Then take a sip and sink into its velvety sweetness. You can’t help but fall in love.

Oooh WAOOOW!

I steeped this at least 4 times over and was perfectly amazed each time. When I purchased this as a “to-go” tea today I was careful to ensure I kept the bag, and was so happy I did!

All the infusions held a beautiful dark amber colour! But the first was a clear even split taste of Chocolate and mint the second and third infusions allowed the mint to take center stage and the 4th infusion, athough a pretty colour I could tell the mint was getting tired.

On the whole this tea is definantly delicious hot or cold and for sure a purchase I will make sooner rather than later.

I went through that 10g sample far too fast! I gotta get me more of this, and I gotta have LOTS of this on hand!!

So yummy! The rooibos is a great balancer to the mint, which seems to over-power the chocolate flavor. The liquor is coppery and the brew is very smooth – definitely a nice alternative to straight mint.

I was downtown not long ago and felt like having tea. I wanted to taste something new and this is one I had never tried.
I am usually not in love with mint and after eight.
I gave it a try. It was sweetened with Agave.
I must say that I was surprised. It tasted really good.
I will for sure buy it again.

Since I’m a fan of chocolate and mint, I decided to buy this tea. The taste is refreshing and there is some sweetness as well. There is a more minty taste than a chocolaty taste. I prefer to add soy milk to it which gets rid of some of the bitter taste from it.

My mom bought a little bit of this for me as a surprise the other day, and I decided to try some today!

The first thing I noticed smelling it dry in the bag was that it has a very artificial scent to it. David’s website doesn’t say whether the “chocolate mint flavouring” they use is natural or artifical, and I don’t know if it’s the chocolate whiff’s or peppermint whiff’s that are putting me off, but it reminds me of really bad chocolate mint cookies… not off to a very good start.

A little trepidatious, I only used half a teaspoon when brewing and was careful with my brewing time even though I usually let rooibos brew for as long as I want. The liquor, a dark reddish brown, ended up with much the same artificial scent as the dry tea; none of the rooibos or vanilla comes through. Taste-wise, the mint chocolate is seriously overpowering, and not in a good way like the cinnamon in David’s Cinnamon Rooibos Chai. I guess most of it comes down to personal preference and taste, but I was pretty disappointed in this tea. I’m normally a fan of chocolate and mint together, but there’s just such an artificial (or at least, what I can only describe as artificial) taste to this that I can’t enjoy it or finish my cup.

MMmm this is the ideal after-dinner tea! I just had it along with a christmas red velvet cupcake from Magnolia Bakery and it was a match made in heaven! The best of everything all at once and only a few days until christmas!

Had this iced in store, it was better than expected! I took it without sweetener, and it was just what I needed on this hot, hot day. It was so good, I went back for another cup!

So it is getting late and despite spending the afternoon in bed (so sick…blegh), I am exhausted. But craving a cuppa to round out my day. So I asked my wife to make me a cup of an herbal we had to drink down, something we need to get rid of, and then I decided on this.

Lovely, lovely choice. I was never much of a dessert girl, I’ve always preferred savory foods over sweet, but I can see now why people get into the habit of dessert teas. This is just a lovely, minty way to end my day. I love the vanilla and the mint and the chocolate is present, but not overwhelming. I’m sad to see this one come off the wall. I think when I finish my little 26 g, I will likely replace it, if it is still available.

I went into David’s tea with my mom one night and bought a bunch of tea. While she wears packaging it this tea was sitting on the counter just calling to me. So we both got a cup to go and I instantly fell in love. I definitely need to buy this! It is a nice combination of chocolate and vanilla and the mint is very aromatic and a nice end to the sip. Definitely buying a lot of it.

Apparently, I just love rooibos. Seriously, I’ve yet to try a rooibos that I don’t like (flavored or straight).

This was included in the DT Chocolate Box, and while I do think the mint is bordering on overpowering the chocolate, it’s pretty darn tasty. It’s very refreshing, which is something that strikes me as a little odd to say about tea, but, there it is!

Got a cup to-go from David’s this evening. You can really smell both the chocolate and the mint and unlike some “chocolate” teas I can actually taste it in this one! And it doesn’t suffer from letting the bag just hang out in the to-go cup, which is always a plus when you’re taking your tea for a walk!

Exploring my new found love for tea with mint in it, I knew I had to try this one! You can definitely taste the rooibos base but the mint and chocolate balances it out so it’s not so noticeable (if steeped for less time). I was more so surprised on re-steep to find the mintiness still there. The initial steep wasn’t as strong as I thought it would have been so I assumed it wouldn’t last.

I like it, maybe not to restock but it’s decent for caffeine-free evenings.

This tea is delicious. The aroma is sweet and minty, but the taste is a perfect blend of chocolate and mint. Just what I need to defeat my addiction to sugary chocolate coffee beverages. Huzzah!

I can see this being a year round (not just winter) fav for me. Mint chocolate chip ice cream is also my favourite. I love that it’s caffeine free so I can drink it any time.

Just finished a cup of comfort in a cup. I love that it tastes as good as it smells. This is my first review on Steepster, more to come.

This one is my favourite tea from DavidsTea (unless they make something that tops it one day!).
No need for sugar or milk. Actually has enough chocolate-y taste to substitute for a “real” dessert. Nice sweet and light green rooibos taste.
The best part for me is that every time I steep this (about 4-5min), I ALWAYS re-steep and it still produces enough taste to make a satisfyingly flavourful cup!

You blend chocolate and mint together and you own me forever. At least when it is done well, like it is here. Sipping this one is like biting into one of Laura Secord’s mint squares, only with fewer calories.

I still prefer Read My Lips, but this one definitely hit the spot for me tonight with my cravings. The chocolate here seems a tad more milk chocolate flavoured than in Read My Lips, so dark chocolate lovers may want to sample it before buying.

Drinking the last I have of this one tonight. And . . . it’s lacking something. I think I’m comparing it to Read My Lips and am wishing I was drinking that instead. This one isn’t bad, it just isn’t as good. I think it is on the online-only reserve list that came out recently, too, so I’m pretty sure this is where I will part ways with this one. Fare thee well, Mint Chocolate Rooibos.

Made this one tonight as a latte to finish up the last of my milk. In an experimental mood, I added some vanilla and mint extracts to the milk before heating it . . . it made for a lovely mint flavour, although I’m not sure I’ll add the vanilla next time. Still a great tea to sip before bed!

Latte-d this one last night. Nom nom nom. I’m finding more and more that I prefer Read My Lips, however.

Had this one with a little chai tossed in. Nice way to relax after an off day.

Totally agree with David’s Tea, this is the night time version of Read my Lips… with mint <3

“I have to admit that, at first, I wasn’t sure about this one. It’s the first tea I bought in a bag instead of in a can. I regret it now because it’s delicious! It’s good for your health and it replaces dessert with its chocolate taste. You’d want nothing else! i bought it when I felt kinda depressed and it boosted my mind! Since the mint is so strong, I do not drink a lot of this one. However, it’s a must!

Brewed up a quick cup because I was craving something sweet, but all I had handy was a dried cotton tea bag that I had used for the pecan tart black tea yesterday… Sooo… I shouldn’t say much about this tea just yet, especially about the colour.

But. I can say that this tea is very very tasty. The mint is definitely stronger than the chocolate. I’m not entirely sure about the chocolate, but the chocolate-esque taste comes out at the end of a sip. This reminds me a lot of York Peppermint Bites, which is pretty awesome, because I love those!

(so, I don’t have a large selection of teas.. I feel like my tasting notes are going to be very repetitive! I need more teas!)

I really enjoy this tea – enough that I keep reaching for it, and drinking multiple cups when I do. Today I’m not really getting the York Peppermint Bites taste, but instead a mostly mint taste. Second steep is just as dark as the first, but most of the flavor is gone, leaving “just” a nice rooibos.

I only bought 25g and I am coming to the end. If I buy it again, I know I will drink it.

Cold steeped some overnight.

Today I can taste the mint most of all; I can’t really taste chocolate. Something new has appeared though – a fresh, leafy taste. Actually, it tastes like blueberry leaves smell. I like it!
