Finished my sample of this today! It was a much needed comfort tea. I still love the maple flavor with the rooibos. The flavors fit well together.
“I’m finishing my sample from my Fall try me pack. The tea has a lovely maple taste, and considering how picky I am with rooibos, I was very surprised at how much I liked it. I’d even go as far as...” Read full tasting note
“Sipdown! Thanks Sil! This one definitely needs to… not be underleafed. It’s definitely sweet and mapley, but lacking a bit of something. Ah well. Still good, just could...” Read full tasting note
“This tisane is for maple lovers only! Seriously! If you don’t like maple, don’t even bother. Because this is – essentially – a thinned maple syrup.

My first impression on opening the package was of pipe tobacco. Now, that’s not a bad thing, as I love the smell of fresh, flavored pipe tobacco. It was a strong, fresh, heady scent. Autumn leaves is a perfect name, as it reminds me of a crisp Fall day back in Michigan where I grew up. I started with 2 teaspoons in my large glass mug, steeped 2 minutes. Not a lot of flavor, so I steeped another 2 minutes. Stronger color and nice flavor, but my inner child forced me to add a packet of Truvia, which brought out the maple. (I confess I’m still learning correct amounts, temperatures and steep times.) I’m not a huge fan of rooibos, but have taken to drinking it at night when camellia sinensis might well keep me awake. To sum up, I am enjoying this tea and would not hesitate to order it again from Della Terra.
I received a “try me” size of this in the mystery box I ordered from Della Terra. To sum this tea up in a single word: YUM!
The leaves smell nice, but I wasn’t overly excited about this tea until I tasted it.
The first infusion was a beautiful dark red color and smelled divine! The maple was very prominent in both the smell and taste and seems very natural. It’s like drinking maple syrup in tea form, which may be a turn off for some. If you love maple, this tea is a must-try!
It also resteeps fairly well. I let the second steep go on for 10 minutes. The liquor is much paler, but I still taste wonderful maple goodness.
I’ll definitely be ordering this again!
I haven’t had many Rooibos teas, but I really like the flavor of this one. The aroma right out of the package brought autumn right to my kitchen and it only got better when I started steeping it. The warm, rich scent of maple is the dominant aroma. The flavor is that of maple and spice. I think I’ll add a bit of sugar or honey just to bring out the autumn flavors a bit more but otherwise this tea is great just on its own. This tea definitely put me in the mood for crisp weather, football, and long-sleeves!
