What an exciting day today has turned out to be! This morning my very first Della Terra order came, and I am super excited to try all of my new teas! I ordered two of the try me packs (these are great!!) so I have 10 new teas to try! I was hoping my order would arrive today, so that was very exciting when it did.

The next thing that happened was completely unexpected. I was in the shower and as soon as I turned off the water I heard all of these squeaking sounds. I just assumed that the cats had knocked something off the counter and were playing with it, or that it was one of the dog’s squeaky toys. I casually walked into my bedroom while brushing my teeth and about died – my cats had a mouse cornered and it was him who was squeaking away! One of my cats was pretty terrified of the mouse (they’re indoor cats) and the other one was sprawled out and just keep pushing him back towards her with one paw when he would start to run away (but not hurting him). I quickly scooped him up into some tupperware. I think he’s pretty young – he’s so tiny and scared. I gave him some bread, cereal and water and a toilet paper roll to hide in. People think I’m crazy, but I just can’t kill him. And I couldn’t let my cats kill him (if they even would, I doubt it!). So he’ll rest tonight and then we’ll let the little guy go tomorrow. And we will also be dealing with the door tomorrow – we got a new glass screen door just put on last week and they didn’t replace a certain part of the door frame and there’s a big gap at the bottom. Lo and behold that’s where the tiny mouse came through. We’ve lived here for 3 years and have never seen a mouse inside, so it has to be the new screen door. It certainly added some excitement to my day (and the cats thoroughly enjoyed themselves as well!)

On to the tea . . . Things have finally settled down so I can try my new tea! I picked this one to try first. When I was smelling all of them today this one lingered in my mind and I was thinking about it all day. The dry leaves smell like sweet cinnamon and raisins, and the tea has a spicy cinnamon and cookie aroma. There is a brown sugar and cinnamon flavor with a really nice aftertaste of warm oatmeal raisin cookie. You can tell this is a well blended tea because all of the flavors mesh together and complement each other without one standing out too much.

Ok, I just poured the rest of the tea that had steeped longer out of my little teapot into my cup and the flavor is SO much better. It’s everything that I noticed from the first cup but stronger. That just upped my rating. :) I feel like here is the amazing Oatmeal Raisin Cookie that everyone’s been talking about. Yay, I am very happy with this tea!

-Dry blend has medium black tea leaves and twigs with raisins and pieces of oatmeal.
-Dry leaves smell like sweet cinnamon and raisins. Tea liquor aroma is of spicy cinnamon and cookie.
-Tea liquor is a clear golden yellow color.
-Brown sugar and cinnamon flavor with a warm cinnamon finish. Sweet oatmeal raisin cookie aftertaste.
-Best with sweetener. Milk optional.
-Very good tea. Oatmeal raisin cookie flavors blended together very well. A smooth and comforting cup.

Wow! That’s a lot of teas to try! I hope you enjoy them. I’ve been pretty happy with them for the most part.

TeaRunner

How is the little mouse doing?
I think you saved him – the cats would probably eventually kill him – or he would not survive the fatigue and stress.
Such a great story!

Serenity

What a comforting cup of tea after the dramatic rescue!
I am back…After I wrote that, I had to deal with a rescue of my own. My dog just brought in two snails. My daughter started screaming. The rescue is complete, no snails were eaten.
I think I need a cup of tea now! I was just going to comment that the tea sounds delicious and how kind you were to save the dear mouse!

Josie Jade

We released our little mouse friend this morning. He kind of looked around and then bounded off. We watched him leaping through the leaves/grass for a little while – he looked very happy! :)

Serenity – glad the snails were ok! Sounds like you’ve had a little excitement too this weekend!

So after finding a bunch of things kleptoed from my work’s supply cabinet, I decided it was time for a nice comforting drink. And what’s more relaxing than sweet cinnamony oatmeal cookie? And this tea tastes amazingly like cookies. Buttery with brown sugar and slightly caramelized edges. Mmm cookie… I don’t taste much raisin but I’m fine with that. This is the most convincing cookie tea I’ve ever had. Love it!

Thanks so much for sharing Alphakitty!

Lala

I hope they didnt get their sticky hands in any of your tea.

Lindsey

This review makes me very excited (well, not the work thieves part)! I just placed an order for a sampler box from Della Terra yesterday and included this tea in it. Can’t wait to try it after reading this!

Mercuryhime

Tea is kept in my own private cabinet. No one better go in there!
Lindsey, if you like cinnamon and cookies, you’ll love this. :)

This is one of several teas I drank during the Steepster malfunctioning hours today. This is one of several teas I wrote reviews on the were lost in transit. I know it sounds like I’m complaining, but really up until today the Dashboard has been working wonderfully for quite awhile.

Thank you Sil for sharing this tasty treat with me!
Sample sipdown!

MsWhatsit

That’s why I use a backup blog. My last three or four reviews would have been lost otherwise.

Terri HarpLady

I guess I should try that, eh?

This is one of my favorite teas! I personally feel it is one of the standards of flavored tea! (This and Pineapple Upside Down Cake!) I love this tea. You can immediately taste the brown sugar with a hint of vanilla once you swallow. It’s absolutely terrific and I hope it’s permanently kept in Della Terra’s arsenal of teas.
I’m on my second steep of it now and it tastes just as good as the first! The flavors definitely hold up to multiple steepings!

Those are my two favorite Della Terra teas! SO good!

TeaGinner

For sure! Those two are always going to be on hand for me. Since I can only have 1 or 2 cups of CAFFEINATED tea per day (down from 6+ cups of caffeinated per day) I choose Oatmeal Raisin Cookie and Pineapple Upside Down Cake as my permanent choices for drinking!! :)

Azzrian

Good choices! :)

I am now officially under 100 teas! Does that mean I get to go on a tea shopping spree?!?

As for this tea, I am happy I still have quite a bit around. It is warm and comforting and quite reminiscent of an oatmeal cookie. It is a happy tea for sure :)

In other news, has anyone ever tried sprinkling flavored matcha on yogurt? It is something I have been contemplating doing and I think it might be good. Thoughts?

Adding more stuff to your package right now… You get the last of my Demain, I’ve decided. Anything to bump you up, knock some things off your shopping list, and get rid of a tea I didn’t really like all that much.

Courtney

Awesome for under 100! I haven’t tried that, but it sounds like it could be tasty.

VariaTEA

Haha oh Roswell Strange, something tells me it was a mistake to tell you to hold off on sending the package. I fear what will happen to my cupboard when it arrives.

And Courtney, I can send you some if you like :).

Courtney

Haha, I should’ve clarified – the matcha on yogurt sounds tasty. :)

VariaTEA

Oh. Yeah, I don’t think that would travel as well :P

Courtney

Hahaha! Please don’t send that. Yogurt gone bad, with extra green when I open the parcel doesn’t sound appealing. :P

VariaTEA

Oh god. That definitely would not be something I would want to receive.

OMGsrsly

You definitely need to go on a shopping spree. :)

Fjellrev

I recently wrote a tea note about mixing Bee Pollen matcha with Greek yogurt, and yep, it’s awesome.

VariaTEA

Now I just need to decide what matcha to mix with my yogurt. I have vanilla greek yogurt so I am trying to decide what best mixes with that.

Sil

No fair! I’m on a vacation and can’t keep drinking!

VariaTEA

Yay! You finally made it to Florida I take it! Congrats and I hope you have an awesome trip.

I haven’t had the best of luck with Della Terra Teas. I’m saddened by this because I do enjoy drinking flavored teas, especially the types of dessert teas that Della Terra Teas makes… but I really haven’t been that impressed or amazed by any of the blends. I want to love them, but they just don’t sit well with my taste buds.

It’s freezing out today. No falling snow, but some still caked on car windshields, rooftops, sidewalks. I’ve been spending the last of my winter break by being the ultimate couch potato, truly. I need a tea that is comforting and tasty. I still have hope that I’m not completely done with Della Terra Teas… so I picked oatmeal raisin cookie.

I love oatmeal cookies – with and without the raisins. I usually don’t like raisins in baked things, but they seem like they were born to be in an oatmeal cookie. Perhaps I’ll make a batch this week…

The dry leaf smells oddly like a candle… and tea shouldn’t smell like a candle unless it makes up for the odd scent in flavor. After the tea has steeped.. I’m still smelling a cinnamon bakery candle. It’s not terrible and actually seems a bit toned down from my first whiff. Cinnamon is the strongest followed closely by something crusty and baked.

Sipping…. cinnamon with something artificial in the background. Yep, I’m just tasting watery cinnamon tea. Bummer. The scent seemed promising, but I don’t taste cookies or brown sugar or oatmeal. It’s very much a one note cinnamon candle tea for me.

It’s too bad that I haven’t been able to taste what everyone else is tasting. Oh well, more tea left for those who love these blends!

Azzrian

Aweee I am SO sorry that the teas don’t sit well with you. I really am I adore them. I guess we just all have our own loves and not so muches lol. This is one of my favorites from them too. Hope you have better luck with other teas today! :)

QueenOfTarts

It’s alright, Azzrian! I have plenty of other yummy teas.. I wish that I had liked these more, though. :)

tea-sipper

oh no.. now I feel like making a batch of oatmeal raisin cookies! :D

Everyone’s review were the main reason I bought this tea. Oatmeal raisin cookies are my favourite kind of cookies, but only if they’re chewy.

The dry notes smell like cinnamon, bakey and like raisins (do raisins have a smell?). Oh geez, goodness already.

On first sip I get the bakeyness of the cookie, the cinnamon and the raoisin. Oh the layers of perfection. This is so good. This may be the most layered tea I’ve had. I want to chug the whole lug down, and yet I just want to sip it and slowly enjoyt it. I’m so torn.

You have got to try this. This tea very well be my Kew fav. So scrumptipus.

This is really spicy. Which is fine for me, since I do like tea’s with a bit kick. I think the spice over-powered any oatmeal raisin taste, ’cos I just am not getting that flavour. What probably happened is a lot of the spice fell to the bottom of the sample bag, and since I dumped the remaining tea into my infuser it made a really spicy (but yummy) tea.

JustJames

hah! i didn’t find it spicy… so maybe my oatmeal raisin cookies are spicy?

From the smell of the dry leaf, I was expecting a whole lot more than what was delivered. All I got was baking cinnamon. No oatmeal, no raisin. Just an ok cup of tea. Didn’t bother trying to resteep.
