if you don’t like raisins, don’t drink this tea.

an odd compliment to pay? not at all. della terra nailed this one! i have warm, soft, cinamonny, raisiny oatmeal cookies in my tea cup. the cookie is SO tangible that if you cannot abide raisins, then don’t order the tea.

it’s fantastic.

and while i really doubt the tea would have the same cholesterol reduction qualities that i tell myself an oatmeal cookie has (we all need our justifications), it also has virtually none of the calories (another justification right there, lol).

i’ll buy this one for sure. thank you to ShortSorceress for the sample!!!

Ooh, I love this one. Need to make a fall tea order from Della Terra for sure.

JustJames

our eldest has a shirt that says ‘stupid raisins, stay out of my cookies’… this really wouldn’t be a tea for her, lol!

More cookies (and tea) for us raisin-likers, then!

Mastress Alita’s sipdown challenge – April Tea #7: A raisin-y tea

An obvious choice for this prompt… also the oldest raisin tea I have AND a favorite!  It’s a sad sipdown… I rated it very highly.  I THINK I have this same blend from Tealyra, but I really don’t think it tastes exactly the same.  But that might be because the Tealyra blend is much newer.   This one has more of a rustic flavor, and definitely raisin… more like its name — the Tealyra blend is more one noted with mostly cinnamon.  This is a favorite but it was time to finish it already.  I will PRETEND the Tealyra is just as good…

Thanks Eva for offering to send me a sample of this …
I have put off tasting it for a bit because most of my orders have been Della Terra so far and I’ve been afraid this would mean another one, I’d like to branch out a little, but their sales suck me right in. Eeks!

This one smells great dry. Sweet & cinnamon… Yum! I was skeptical at other reviews that this could actually taste much like an oatmeal cookie. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I get sweet cinnamon on each sip with a buttery cookie aftertaste.

Re-steeped well, but a little weaker. To be expected for a flavored tea.

EveInOrbit

You added sugar and cream right?? ;)

Suziqzer

I added sugar for this cup… after a preliminary sip of course ;)
I did a small cup so I have enough for one more… which will be with cream and sugar for sure.

I found there were some extra bits in the bottom of my cup when I finished that were different than I’ve experienced with any other tea. After looking at the ingredients it must have been oatmeal that made it through my infuser basket.. reminded me of the bits in the bottom of a glass of milk when you’ve dunked a few too many oatmeal cookies.

EveInOrbit

Haha, it’s so much better with it! Hmm… now that you mention it, I want to make a cup to see if mine does the same. Plus now I’m craving cookies.

Suziqzer

Lol.. cookies with cookie flavored tea!
If you made it with milk/cream you might not have noticed the extra stuff in the bottom of your cup… although I found I had to dump it out, and often I’m able to drink it. It tasted good enough that it didn’t bother me though.

Ahh, that’s why (I made it with cream). It’s always nice to be pleasantly surprised!

This one isn’t working for me. I tried cinnamon crackle yesterday and as an avid lover of all things hot tamale, red hot, cinnamon bear, and goldschlager, I was super surprised to find that I didn’t really like it too much. It’s too candy-y, even more than candy. Anyway, this review is not about cinnamon crackle, but it kind of is. All I can taste in this tea is the same cinnamon as is in cinnamon crackle. Shoot. Oh well, saves me money when I don’t like a tea :-)

1 for 2 so far.

Thanks to Alphakitty again! It’s the tea swap that keeps on giving and giving!

Tealizzy

This one didn’t taste like what I thought it should taste like, so even though it was decent, I never got over that. I’ve never had cinnamon crackle, though.

ohfancythat

I didn’t find this one impressive…didn’t taste the cookies at all!

Another sipdown of an old sample, this one had been sent to me long ago by Dustin, so thanks! (I was smart enough to write the name on the bag for once)

I remember the first time I tried this I was underwhelmed, the reviews were so awesome but I wasn’t getting it.

This time around, I was more impressed. Even considering the age of my sample, I was tasting oatmeal raisin cookie in this, down to the raisins!

To add to the impressiveness, I had even eaten a homemade oatmeal raisin cookie just before drinking the tea and could still notice the cookie taste in it!

I think this is one case where the noticeable “taste” of DTT’s black tea base (or is it a weird chemical thing from the flavoring? I still can’t tell) is working for this tea.

I also realized that more than their base, I am just NOT a fan – at all – of their chocolate flavoring.

That’s likely why this tea tasted decent to me, and likely why I’m still a fan of cafe vanilla, and why I like their white chocolate tea but none of their teas made with the normal chocolate flavor.

It’s nice to have these realizations!

Nonetheless, not a tea I need to own, but one I’d recommend people try!
Bumping my old rating up a bit from 76.

I love chewy oatmeal cookies, but the texture of baked-in raisins weirds me out. However it’s a personal mission that any cookie-flavored tea must be tried (or cake or cupcake or pie…you get the picture).

At first this just tasted like a mildly spiced black tea, until I added milk. Aaand there it is! Instant liquid oatmeal cookie (without the squishy raisins). Yum yum. I’ll definitely order this one. Thank you Emily M for including this in our swap!

(I just checked and they are sold out. Whew…I’m sort of relieved. Well not really, cause I know when I place my next order it’s going to be GINORMOUS)

Seriously, this tea company is dangerous. DANGEROUS. Just about everything we’ve had from them, we’ve liked. No, not just liked, ADORED. And if we didn’t fall in love with it, it was still good enough that we had no trouble finishing the cup.

This beauty is no exception. I love cinnamon in my teas in my oatmeal raisin cookies and this blend hits that craving spot on. It’s perfect. I feel like I just ate an entire batch of my wife’s delicious homemade cookies, without all the calories. This is just…guh. Yum. Absolutely perfect. I’ve got DT’s Cookie Dough in my travel mug for work, but I don’t think it’s going to like being compared to this perfect blend.

I had really high expectations for this tea, so I’m grading it a little harsher than I do others. It’s tasty, but I don’t really feel like I’m biting into a cookie. All I taste is brown sugar and sweet. A little cinnamon. Maybe I didn’t use enough leaf…I’m certain I steeped it long enough though.

Then again…it’s likely my mouth is still burned and I still can’t taste anything.

I’m with you, it’s so popular but did not impress me one bit, I gave it away.

Yvonne

I’m still trying to hold out on the fact that I didn’t use much leaf and my mouth was still numb. I really want to like this tea :P Eh…we’ll see. But right now I’m rather disappointed :(

Thank you Yappychappy! I’ve always wanted to try this one but it never made it into my shopping cart. The aroma is pretty cinnamon sweet. The flavor definitely does have a bakey note to it. It’s sweet and has a little bit of cinnamon spice to it. I like it. It’s comforting. It was a good tea to have while I played my game :]

I don’t know, this one is yummy but tastes absolutely nothing like any oatmeal raisin cookie I’ve ever had. It reminds me a LOT of DavidsTea Glitter and Gold, because they share the same cinnamon/spice flavour. They smell identical, and brewed the taste the same too except this tea tastes like Glitter and Gold but “more”. G&G is a little weak on flavour for me, but in this tea the flavour is nice and strong. Of course, this one doesn’t glitter, so G&G still has that going for it.
There’s definitely an orange note in here, which makes sense because there are orange peels floating around in the leaf. It’s like that spicy-Christmas-orange taste. Very delicious, but absolutely nothing like an oatmeal raisin cookie.

In sum: Good, but disappointing in that its nothing like you’d expect it should taste. And if you already have Glitter and Gold, don’t get this. However if you WANT Glitter and Gold, get this instead because the flavour is better (although you do lose out on the sparkles).
