Blackberry Bramble

Black Fruit Blend by Della Terra Teas

Our Blackberry Bramble has the taste of a fresh picked basket of blackberry and raspberry. Made with real blackberry and raspberry this tea is a must for any berry lover! A great tea for any time of the year! Try it hot on a cold autumn or winter day, and iced on a hot summer day. A must try!

Thanks Azzrian for sharing this sample with me.

It is a very decent tea, with a light tea base and good aromas of blackberry.
It makes the job without being exceptional nor complex.

I am still searching the perfect blackberry tea and moreover a perfect raspberry tea.

First Review? Backlogging from the weekend so I’ll be posting another of these again. What i recall from this tea though, that it was a nice fruity tea blend. I would also really like to try this cold sometime :)

SIPDOWN!

I brewed the last of this cold to see if there was any improvement to the way this tastes and it’s better by leaps and bounds. That being said, it’ not enough to raise my rating of it since it’s not particularly “berry” tasting and only tastes good when it’s cold. Not to mention that my other half says it tastes like tiajuana flats "half sweet and half unsweetened tea’ that we get whenever we’re in florida lol

Bumped up the rating on this one a little since adding a bit more tea that usual produced an improved cup. Same story with other della terra teas for me. Enjoyed it but not enough to keep it in my cupboard :)

yeah…think i’m going to have to stick with my plan to try this cold. While it’s not a BAD tea…the flavour is just kind of in the middle without a real discernible strong taste one way or the other. I wouldn’t turn my nose at a cup of this again…but i don’t think i’d order it again either if i was looking for a fruity tea.

thanks starfevre for another one to try! I was a little hesitant about this. Blackberry leaves are my third least favorite tea ingredient. I don’t like this tea, but I don’t think it’s the blackberry leaves. I knew to only steep it for two minutes, because the blackberry leaves get worse the longer you steep them. I think this cup went for three minutes though. The flavor is odd and I wouldn’t call it blackberry or raspberry… more like pickles with mustard. Strange! Luckily there is only one teaspoon left and I will probably let someone else try it! It’s nice to TRY this one though, as I’d love to try everything from the usually amazing Della Terra. But I’d say this is my least favorite in blends I’ve tried.

Got this in my swap with Azzrian, thanks!

I haven’t tried a lot of blackberry teas, but I also haven’t really tried any good blackberry teas. I think there is something about the taste of blackberry that is hard to capture in flavorings. The aroma on the steeped tea on this one smells primarily like black tea without much else involved, but it at least smells like a tasty Chinese black tea.

The flavor surprised me… kind of sweet and tart, and surprisingly blackberry. You know, with the low ratings on this one I wasn’t really expecting anything but I am fairly pleasantly surprised. It’s not a tea that I would really crave or reach for often, but I do think the blackberry flavoring is pretty faithful, even in the hot tea. I have been unimpressed by the black tea base on Della Terra teas before, but this one is kind of nice. Pretty tasty overall.

Sipdown, 242.

This time I am using filtered water, so I feel like this one is even more flavorful than last time. Blackberry is a hard flavor to capture in general, but this one does as decently as any of the others I have tried. I feel like blackberry flavors in tea are best in combination with other berry or fruit flavors as it is kind of a slightly boring flavor on its own. Blackberries also might be one of those things where the flavor doesn’t really translate well from the berry. Nevertheless this is a decent enough cup and I drank it happily.

Dry it smells like blackberry but brewed was wondering ‘This is supposed to taste like blackberry?’ Honestly I tossed it.

From Azzrian’s swap.

I’ve brewed up a cup of this this morning while packing away some clothes and other morning chores. I had a momentary panic when I realised I’d forgotten to take out the cup’s strainer, but thankfully on drinking this there was no bitterness. Quite exciting! The berry flavours are more prominent in the dry leave, in the steeped leaf they add just some sweetness to the mix. Might have to try adding some of the vanilla rock sugar Azz sent…

Thanks, I’m quite enjoying this.

Thanks JackieT for sending me a sample of this.

I seem to be in the minority here. I really liked this. I think it does taste like blackberries. I don’t think it’s fake or candyish. It’s light it’s fruity. I think it’s everything a black fruit flavored teas should be.
I’m not sure this would have a permanent place in my cupboard, but I would drink it again if I ran across it.

I am ever in search of the perfect blackberry tea. I steeped this one twice. The first time I did it with boiling water for 3 minutes without sweetener. It was slightly fruity with a smooth black tea base, but didn’t wow me. The second steep was better and slightly below boiling for about 5-6 minutes with a spoonful of raw wildflower honey. It brought out the blackberry much more, but still not quite as flavorful as I wanted it to be. Maybe I should try it as a cold steep.

I used the last of my sample of this to brew up a big batch to ice. Unfortunately my sister and I lost a bit of the liquor as we funnelled it into a container. We added a little alfalfa honey to sweeten it.
As I suspected, I like this much better cold and it seemed smoother. The blackberry comes out much better! It was just the slightest bit bitter, but not in a bad way at all. I’m still looking for the perfect blackberry tea.

This was a good “first thing in the morning” tea, when you don’t want anything overly sweet. The black tea was the dominant flavor, but was accented by a slight blackberry flavor. The berry wasn’t overpowering and not too sweet. I think I would have liked the berry flavor to pop more than it did, but I still enjoyed it.

Had a terrible night sleep last night. Woke up at 2am to my husband coughing…he definitely sounded sick and was complaining of pain in his shoulder (he seems to be better this morning though). I then couldn’t go back to sleep for about 2 hours. I felt like I wanted to get up and my stomach felt like it needed food! At 2am?!! I read for a bit, and that helped me get back to sleep. Good thing I don’t have work today!! We are thankfully taking this week off for our anniversary :)

Needless to say I needed some good solid tea this morning! In the absence of blueberry cream cheese danish, which, if I had any, would have been perfect this morning, I had this tea. I know people complain about the lack of flavoring in this tea, but I really like it. It was perfect today with some soy milk and sugar and paired nicely with my blueberry jam toast. Nice solid black with a hint of blackberry. I feel lots better now.

Thank goodness the work day is over! i think i was turning into a zombie, because by the end of the day my brain turned to mush. It’s been pretty overwhelming lately. I started the day off right, though, with this tea! This was wayyyyyy better the second time. I could taste much more berry. I think this may turn into a tea cabinet staple! I’ve really been enjoying all the Della Terra teas I ordered. So glad I tried them out!!!

Perfect first tea of the morning. A solid black tea with a hint of blackberry. Exactly what I wanted. This one’s a keeper!

A note about smell first, I guess. The dry tea leaves have a slightly fruity smell, but the brewed tea doesn’t smell like much of anything. Doesn’t really bode well for the taste, but I could be wrong.

Tasting it really hot, it doesn’t taste like much of anything either. It’s got a slight berry flavour, but I think it’s more from the leaves of the plant than the fruit, it’s got that sort of taste to it. I really wish it were a stronger fruit flavour, it’s bearable but not really much of anything as it is. I’m going to wait for it to cool off a little bit and taste again and maybe the flavour will be stronger. Mostly it just tastes like mediocre black tea right now.

Cooled down, the flavour is slightly stronger, but still nothing to write home about. This one might be better sweetened and iced, for those who like iced tea (I don’t). The berry taste seems to stand out more the cooler it gets. Still not as strong as I would like though, and the leaves carry more strongly than the berry flavouring.
