OMG ever sort of get obsessed with an album or band for a while and just can’t stop listening? I can’t stop listening to Sigur Rós lately. I’m talking ~500 tracks over the past week.

DTT sent me a sample of this and am ever so grateful to try it.

I totally dig the scent of the dry leaf, like a Rolo cappuccino or something. But like with a lot of their flavoured blacks, at least for me so far, it ends up tasting far too sweet. On its own, I taste sugar, sugar, caramel (so basically a different sort of sugar) and a weaker base. I don’t know if it’s me or what, but it reminds me of some of their other flavoured blacks like Dubbele Chocolade or Cafe Vanilla. If I drew a Venn diagram there would be some serious overlapping.

Adding vanilla soy milk makes it better. The caramel is a little more pronounced but I don’t get any distinct marshmallow flavour.

mmmmm I can get behind this tea. This is the kind of marshmallowey goodness that I quite enjoy. I like the way that the caramel and marshmallow blend together. As always, i could do without the sprinkles, since i don’t find they they add much to the tea besides a glistening sheen on the top of the tea, but i can like with it. I for sure can get behind drinking this again as a dessert tea treat.

not my favourite of the Della Terra black caramelly teas but not a bad cup. I for sure don’t need a lot of this one, but it is quite nice as an occasional dessert tea. :)

Edit: 1300 tasting notes! Woot woot!

backlog and a sipdown from yesteday!

I’ve finally figured out that with della terra, i much prefer their vanilla + mint teas than their caramel teas. The caramel just isn’t strong enough and has a bit of an artificial taste to it that i’m not a fan of. That’s not to say that I wouldn’t occasionally pick up one of their caramel teas up occasionally in a sampler pack, but if i were to pick up an ounce it’d be a vanilla/mint tea for sure.

I got this chocolaty tea in a swap with TeaLizzy. I could smell it the second I opened the package and couldn’t resist making it right way. First off, my house smells absolutely amazing now. My mom just walked in to watch the bean while I take the little man to the doctor. He’s had a fever for about 4 days now. She asked me how i found time to make brownies. So, it definitely has a nice aroma.

As far as the flavor. I’m definitely enjoying the cup. I’m glad I got to try this as it’s sold out on the website. I don’t think I’d order it though. It’s actually too desserty for me. I’m not a huge fan of dessert, but I love dessert tea. Strangely enough, this one almost just seems like a dessert instead of dessert tea. So not great for me but any normal person would love this.

Thanks TeaLizzy!

Update: I gave my mom a sip of this and she went nutso. I just gave her the rest of my cup. So like I said, any normal dessert lover would love this.

This tea smells amazing. I got some from AlphaKitty from our meet up swap a while back. I decided to go with a paper filter for this tea since I didn’t feel like cleaning sprinkle gunk off my filter basket today.
The resulting brew is okay, which is a bit of a let down after the amazing scent. I don’t really get chocolate but the marshmallow and caramel are totally there! It has a weird bit of latex aftertaste. And the black base isn’t my favorite, but it’s good enough. Needs a spot of cream to smooth the slight harshness over.

Ok – my internet was down for the past hour or so, but I’m gonna hit 1200!! I am I am!!! Backlogging a few teas now…

Just received my latest Della Terra order, so what better way to attempt to hit 1200 teas (hahaha…) than to try out some new samples?!

Dry, the tea smells pretty chocolatey and sweet. Nothing particularly special.

I’ve got to say – I’ve become pretty skeptical of chocolate teas as they often don’t work for me, but the chocolate and caramel in this one are heavenly! That’s all I’m really getting here, chocolatey, caramelly goodness, but it’s perfect. I would agree that this does taste like love in a cup, haha. This one’s a winner for me, so I hope it tastes this good next time I have it!

ETA: Resteep is good, but only one.

Gotta say that I’m pretty sad to say that this is a sipdown. This was really a very, very tasty tea. Quite sweet and marshmallowy, and I really think it would be a great addition to my travel mug rotation (which it was in, twice). I am guessing that this tea has been at least temporarily discontinued as it was a holiday tea, but I’m hoping it’s back next year! Yum yum yum.

Quick tealogging… gotta keep working.

Thermosed this one on Saturday along with 4 others to take to the boy’s house. This one went down quick…mmmmm. Chocolatey and marshmallowy. And I even got a re-steep that tastes like marshmallows! I’m not sure if there’s a ton of theoretical difference between this one and Eight Candles, but I adore this tea! If I need to add a 1 or 2 oz. packet to a future order, this will probably be it (if I still have a good stock of Lime Chiffon and Chocolate Pumpkin Pie!)

Gawwwwwd this one smelled AMAZING when I opened the pouch up.

The dry leaf is just too cute.

This mostly tastes like caramel marshmallows to me, more so than Eight Candles. I didn’t get much chocolate. It’s a very, very sweet tea, so I don’t see any need to ever add sugar, but I might try it with a little milk sometime.

Chocolate marshmallow awesomeness in a cup. I like this almost as much as Eight Candles. Della Terra’s black base is amazing. Always a good cup and never bitter. For me, the chocolate was the strongest flavor note with marshmallow playing a close second. Beautifully blended! Another win from Della Terra.

I’ve missed Steepster lately. It’s getting harder and harder for me to find time to post and read posts. Hope everyone is well. I plan to spend the next 20 minutes reading tasting notes :)

So I got this in a try-me sample pack from Della Terra a month or so ago. I had wanted to try Eight Candles, but it was out of stock, so I got this instead. After drinking oolongs the past few days, I wanted something different so I picked this out of the rather embarrassingly large stack of teas I have yet to try. Lol.
Glad that I did. It’s pretty good. I definitely like this better than s’mores. All I tasted in s’mores was the marshmallow. In this tea I get just enough marshmallow that I know it’s there, but I can still taste the caramel. Unfortunately I didn’t taste any chocolate, but maybe I didn’t steep it enough? I have enough for another pot or two so maybe I’ll try steeping a bit longer next time.
All in all, I’d reorder this one.

At first glance this reminded me of David’s Love Tea #7 which I didn’t care for because I don’t like fruit in chocolate. However, now that it’s steeped, the scent is quite sweet smelling.

I’m getting quite a bit of marshmallow and caramel. It’s somewhat reminding me of Kusmi’s St. Petersburg, but much sweeter. I can taste the slightest hint of chocolate in the background. This one is pretty good, but I certainly couldn’t drink it on a regular basis. Too sweet for me.

Thanks jessiwrites!

With its mini marshmallows and little sprinkles, this tea looked like the fun treat I needed to liven up my study break. On its own it tasted like black tea with a sweet aftertaste, but after adding milk the flavors really popped. It reminded me of that hot chocolate mix with the mini marshmallows that I used to have as a kid, but a more grown up version that’s less chocolatey and with more of a caramel undertone. It paired perfectly with my super sophisticated snack of crackers and cheese. It was a tasty cup, but I’d love to try their S’mores tea for comparison.

This is actually pretty delicious. I taste more marshmallow / caramel sweetness than I do chocolate sweetness, which is good – I’m not a big fan of overly sweet chocolate. In fact, I usually only eat 90% dark chocolate.

I’m on my second steep of this one tonight, and it still tastes yummy. I love black teas that are good for multiple steeps. I am glad I have more of this!

I shared this one a lot, so I’m almost done with my 1oz bag already. It’s quite good for when I want something sweet, it’s a nice balance of flavors and it needs absolutely nothing added to it.

I have noticed that Della Terra blacks definitely benefit from a little shorter steeping time. DavidsTeas usually ask for a steeping time of 4 minutes or so, and that does NOT work for Della Terra.

This was my penultimate mug of Love In A Cup.

For a caramel marshmallow black, it is very well done. It’s a bit on the excessively sweet side for me, definitely not something I could ever drink regularly, but it’s a very nice dessert-y treat.

Not on my reorder list, but not a bad tea.

So, V-Day today – time to drink this sample! It’s pretty chocolate, with jife marshmallows bits. Also this was a freebie: bonus!

I like it but I’m not convinced this is the best – I still have the Della Terra chocolate try-me pack to work through.

Doctor Who sipdown. This smells nice and chocolatey. The flavour is mostly chocolate. It tastes like the chocolate covered caramel marshmallow candies. I think I’ll have this next time I have chocolate cravings.

I really don’t know what my problem is with this one. I tried it Friday, but couldn’t trust my judgement because of a massive headache, so I tried it again this morning and….meh. I love dessert teas, but this one isn’t doing it for me. It has a fake-y sweetness that I don’t care for….maybe because of the marshmallow?

Gave this tea one more chance this morning, and….meh. I really can’t discern any discrete flavors….just a whole lot of unidentified sweetness. I’m definitely keeping this one on the available swap list until it’s gone.

Thanks to jessiwrites for a taste of this delightful concoction!

The first time I tried this I was underwhelmed. Not sure what was going on that day but now I LOVE this! It’s really tasty, the marshmallows, chocolate and caramel are all coming out to say hello! I am thinking I was too stingy with the tea last time, trying to make it last sometimes isn’t worth sacrificing the proper cuppa. This time the flavour was maximized whereas last time my pathetic excuse for a “teaspoon” just meant a weak cuppa.

I’m putting in a DellaTerra order now and am really struggling to choose between this and S’mores, which I haven’t tried. Nevermind, I decided to order the sample pouch of this because it’s better than nothing at all!

This is really good. I have a disgustingly sweet bunch of teeth (all of them, not just one), so though some people have said this is too sweet, it’s right up my alley. I am hoping it will be a good way to squash a late night dessert craving. :)

YUM! So far I’m pleased with the Della Terra Teas I’ve tried thanks to all the generous swappers out there.

Still not sold on marshmallow teas but this one was decent. I do like caramel so that was probably it. We all enjoyed it enough and second steep was good – I nearly always do 3 minute first steep and 4-5 minute second steeps for favored teas unless I find the second steep isn’t worthwhile.

The smell of the dry leaf is absolutely heavenly. Definitely get the chocolate and a hint of marshmallow, along with a tiny bit of cherry (but not as intense as Hearts & Roses). I’m not really getting caramel, but more like plain sugar. Brewed up hot with milk, it’s very smooth and sweet. That’s when I get a tiny bit of caramel and vanilla along with the chocolate. In retrospect I shouldn’t have added sugar, but a little bit is what turns this into a pure dessert tea. Very nice but I don’t think I could drink it everyday.
