Rose With French Vanilla

Black Tea by Dilmah

Inspiringly aromatic, with a medium bodied floral note, the flavour of Rose with a hint of French Vanilla combines ceylon tea in a perfect embrace. Elegant and sophisticated, a perfect afternoon or after dinner tea with a touce of romance.

Sipdown, 187. Yet another of the selection of rose teas that I got in my swap with ToiToi. Thanks!

I brewed this one both cooler and shorter than I normally would because I saw immediately that it is a CTC leaf, and I am scared of CTC. Steeped, it smells primarily of rose in a somewhat perfumy way. You guys know that I love strong rose and rarely associate it with perfume, but for whatever reason this one is perfumy. The rose flavor is powerful, but again it kind of like perfume or soap. I don’t taste the vanilla as a distinct note but rather it lends a creaminess to the tea. Unfortunately, the main problem here is not the perfumy rose but the sharp spike of bitterness and astringency from the CTC base is too much for me. I knew I was right to be afraid! :P

I have tried Dilmah caramel tea (which I was not impressed with) and Dilmah original black tea (which was average on my ranking) so I am not holding my breath for this type.

Whist brewing the scent of rose filled my nostrils which gave me some hope towards a nice cup of tea. It smells so fresh and sweet, almost like Turkish Delight.

It tastes like Turkish Delight too, quite strong but nice tasting. The rose is by far the strongest but you can notice some vanilla, I think it would be nicer with more vanilla however. Still it’s quite nice, sweet, floral,fragrant….there is just something wrong with it that I cannot put my finger on.

I drank this one last night. It is very fragrant and lovely. The flavor and aroma is mostly rose but is is softened by the vanilla. The vanilla, to me anyway, didn’t really have a distinct note in the tea but didn’t make the tea any less good. I felt very spolied. It is a light tea.

I am drinking this one as my afternoon pick me up at work today. It does the job pretty well. If you ever wanted to drink roses, this may be you tea. :) It also reminds me of turkish delight but it doesn’t have any orange or pistachio flavors, maybe it is just the vanilla making the rose taste sweeter.

Normally I get mostly rose from this tea but I have just hit my office jellybean stash and I am getting more of the vanilla notes. I take this tea plain but now I think I may have to experiment with sugar and maybe even milk in the future.

Agree with Veronica that it’s a mood booster… this rose tea is an elegant drink. It smells so fragrant and sweet that no matter how busy you are, you can’t resist the temptation to pause to enjoy it. I feel like a princess as I take a sip, even though I am rushing a report at home in my old pyjamas!!!

I have mixed feelings about rose. Sometimes I kind of like it, other times I hate it. I think I like it in this tea, the flavor isn’t too strong. Can’t really pick up on the vanilla notes, but oh well. Good with or without milk (:

I smell rose but taste weak flat ceylon tea, almost bordering on dishwasher water.

This tea is just to flavored for my taste. Normally, I love Dilmah, but this just smells like bad perfume and the taste… even worst :(

Hmmm… I am not quite sure what to think of this tea. On the one hand, I love the scent, like Turkish delight~ so delicious! But on the other, the taste is so disappointing! It tastes nothing like the scent, it tastes nothing like anything. It’s so disappointing D;

A seductive tea, combination of quality tea and sensuous fragrance of rose petals. The rose fragrance is tinged with the flavour of French Vanilla, heightening the romance of this tea and softening its character.

I’m just drinking it black, but I have a feeling it would also be good with a tiny amount of milk…the kind of tea you drink with little biscuits or after a classy meal ;)
really sweet and light.
