Genmaicha with Matcha

Green Matcha Blend by DoMatcha

DōMatcha™ makes the world’s best tasting Genmai Cha. Unlike all other genmai cha which is made from bancha leaves and roasted rice, we use tencha leaves and matcha with roasted rice, creating an extremely smooth tasting green tea with a delightful nutty flavor. Tetra shaped tea bags made from organic cornstarch are used for a premium quality brew. Each teabag makes 2-3 cups of hot or iced tea. (20 teabags)

Delightful! This may very well be the best Genmaicha tea I’ve ever tasted – certainly the best Genmaicha with Matcha! The Genmaicha base is smooth with a sweet, nutty contribution from the toasted rice. Pleasantly sweet – it seems to happily glide across the palate! The flavor is much less vegetative than bancha based genmaicha teas. The matcha adds a pleasantly sweet note. There is very little bitterness to this cup.

I adore this tea!

I was just about to pour my 6-8 oz water over it when I read this and saw “each bag makes 2-3 cups” so instead of doing re-steeps I decided to start over, make 2cups hot, drink half and chill the other half.

I was hoping for a matcha burst of energy but in a lighter form than straight matcha. I like how this is sweeter and smoother than other (admittedly low quality) genmaichas I’ve tried! Will write more later…

Needed something to cure my energy slumps, satisfy my carb cravings, fill my travel mug w/ only 1 teabag, and brew quickly. This was the perfect answer.

This is a very smooth genmaicha. It’s nice and toasty and a little less grassy than the ones I’ve had before. The matcha makes the tea a beautiful shade of jade green. So comforting and perfect for the autumn chilliness.

So if you let the water boil and don’t want to wait for it to cool, is it ok to just add some cool water to the mug and top it off with boiling water? That’s what I did with this and it tastes fine.

It’s been kind of a weird day. I feel kind of like I’m in a dream. Is this real life? Anyway, it’s a soothing comforting tea. It’s not complicated. It’s just good. That’s all I need today. Tasty.
