Indian Mocha Chai

Chai Tea by EnjoyingTea.com

This Sri Lankan Chai is made from Indian spices and high-grown Ceylon tea with natural cherry and chocolate flavors. The combination of ingredients gives this tea the depth and character of those served in Chai stands prevalent in India and Sri Lanka. This tea has a superb body with mellow Indian spice notes and overtones of mocha. When brewed this chai is coppery and bright in color and is wonderful served with milk.

This is one of the most unusual tasting chai teas that I’ve ever encountered… unusual but very tasty!

Before reading anything about it, I tasted it, and noticed a chocolate-y note, and something else… but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. It tasted a bit like… cherry! But I thought that my taste buds must be off or something, because, I’ve never come across a cherry flavored chai before.

Then I went to the website and saw that this is … in fact, a chocolate cherry flavored chai. Weird! But GOOD!

The cherry is not an IN YOUR FACE kind of cherry flavor – it’s subtle and tastes a bit like a cross between a candied cherry and a bing cherry. The chocolate is smooth and rich tasting. And the chai is not a spicy chai – there aren’t any real strong ginger notes or spicy hot cinnamon… it’s a smoother, sweeter kind of chai, with notes of warmth to accent the mocha like flavors.

I like it!

I am revisiting this chai because I was in the mood for a rich, delicious chai. I think it’s my SOUL crying out for autumn to finally get here. We had hints of it yesterday and this morning, and now it’s sunny again… I want fall!

As I said before, this is one of the more unusual chai blends I’ve ever encountered. The chocolate and cherry tones are well pronounced, but the spices are not as significant.

Tasty.

Backlogging from the weekend…

I will revisit this one since my notes seem incomplete…but so far I was pleasantly surprised with this one…it was mellower that I expected and I am grateful for that. I was thinking it was going to be all-spicey…

It was cocoa-E and spicy-E but full and a nice black.
I did noticed that over infusing was a little nasty – but then again…why would one do that as much as I did…lol…

So – I won’t hold THAT against them! LOL

I did like this tho and next time I drink it I will try and be more descriptive.

I’m having a cup of this now with my Vegan Chili. I have enough for another cup – might have to SIP that down TOMORROW :)

One last sip before sending the rest to a friend!

Backlogging again…mocha, yeah, I get it now! LOL :) I hope to get this flavor again the next time I attempt a cup!

In continuing with my chai mood of sort, I decided to try this Mocha chai sampler.

It is Ceylon tea containing chocolate bits, this makes the taste bitter regardless of how much sugar is added. It is that dark chocolate bitterness for an after taste to one’s palette.
