Berry Rooibos Biodegradable Pyramid Sachets

Pre-release sample graciously provided to me by Epi Tea!

I really love the convenience of pyramid bags, and it makes me happy that the bags are biodegradable and the teas are organic. One less thing to feel bad about!

The rooibos here is well-balanced with the berry. It’s tart, but without the overpowering hibiscus that a lot of berry teas have. I like hibiscus, admittedly, but it can get tiresome. I don’t particularly like red rooibos (or rooibos in general, but give me green any day) but this is surprisingly tasty. I’ve added a bit of local honey and left the bag in while it steeps.

The only thing I wish about this tea was that there was more rooibos in the sachet, or that I had a second sachet to double the strength. I feel like this tea would make a fantastic summer iced tea. All in all though, it’s a solid offering, and a promising beginning!

Lance drank this one for me because I saw hibiscus on the ingredient list, He liked it said it was pretty good, he drank it up pretty quick so it must have been tasty :)

Dry Leaf: Has a berry and rooibos type of aroma.
Wet Leaf: Has a berry and rooibos aroma.
Liquor: Was a dark amber color.
Taste: Has a berry flavor in the beginning then came the super light nutty flavor of the rooibos.
Overall Opinion: I give this tea from the way I rate in my profile a 84. Meaning this tea was “berry average.” This tea was really light with a decent berry flavor. I was looking more for that earthy, nutty flavor you get with rooibos but it never was there. I added sugar and yes it made the berry flavor taste sweeter and did increase the rooibos flavor some but not as I would want. May have to do with not enough rooibos leaf or a lower quality. My advise for the company is use more leaf. My other advise would be I would have been more impressed if you guys did a Honey Bush & Rooibos equal blends and be more generous with the leaf. I did steep this tea 10 minutes as suggested but I want to add I usually steep rooibos 2-5 minutes and it still seems stronger then this one. A side note to people, rooibos is a very forgiving tea so I don’t think you can over steep it.

The smell is very very light though. The taste is fairly light as well, more rooibos I say! :) It does have an interesting taste though,I haven’t had any elderberry or current flavored teas (that I can reacall) so that may be what I can’t place. A little tart, but not overbearing. Not sure I’d get more.

I got this sample from Epi Tea and I’m not sure what is making me not like this. I think I just don’t like this particular blend of berries. I’m more of a raspberry, blueberry, strawberry type girl :D

Berry Rooibos
Ingredients: Organic Rooibos, Organic Hibiscus, Organic Rosehips, Organic elderberries, Organic Black Currants, Organic Cranberries and Organic Flavorings.

I brewed the Berry Rooibos to boiling temperature. I steeped it for ten minutes as it specified on the sample label. First and first foremost I would like to say that when I have the opportunity to eat/drink organic foods or drinks,I love it. I with that I could do it more often.The tea came in a pyramid sachet that is biodegradable.
Honestly, this is my time drinking rooibos so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’m definitely still learning.
Personally, I didn’t really enjoy drinking this one. I’m sorry. I’m a bit disappointed. I’m not sure if I’m biased because I’m not really a fan of black currants of raspberries or maybe the blend of these berries don’t particularly work great together.

I really appreciate that Epi Tea has sent me a few samples to try. Thank you.

Pre-release sample! My samples arrived today so I dived right in…which to choose? I ultimately went with the one that had the fewest reviews here :)

I’m with Michelle on the convenience of the pyramid bags. The scent from the tea through me off a little bit – it brings back memories of being sick and having to down that weird red triminic cough syrup.

On the plus side, the taste of the tea is nothing like that! It’s a bit mild for me as I prefer my teas stronger (at least so far) and the flavors don’t fight for attention. While the tea didn’t knock my socks off, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to friends who enjoyed a milder tea.
I’m not sure if a bit of honey/sugar would have enhanced the flavors – something I’ll have to try another time :) overall not a bad little tea.

I brewed up 3 pyramid bags of this to make 2 iced teas for myself and the other half to drink while we did an at-home barre class. Now I have to admit these we’re drunk very quickly due to the need for rehydration during our class. I quite enjoyed it, the other half said he loved his. I think ideally I would’ve left it an extra few minutes but it was quite tasty. The rooibos was very rehydrating, the berries added a nice touch of sweetness. But yes, a few extra minutes would’ve made the flavour a bit stronger. Yummo.

I noticed the same odd, overwhelming scent that I can’t place with this tea as I did with the Lavender Earl Grey, so I’m going to assume that it’s something that has to do with Epi Tea’s sachets rather than the tea itself.

Unlike the Lavender Earl Grey, that smell is reflected somewhat in the taste. It reminds me of… bad coffee? Yeah, let’s go with that. I feel like that’s due to either how weak the actual rooibos is and/or how little is included in the sample — a combination, most likely. I like to be generous with my rooibos portions, since it’s not a very strong tea unless you steep a lot! But since I could have used less water and probably gotten a better taste, I’m not docking points for that.

I the little bit of berry rooibos I can pick up. The berry-to-rooibos ratio is spot on, and the tanginess of the berries is really nice. It’s just… barely there.

I am really glad I got these free samples. I brewed this while watching Dragon Ball with my brother. I brewed it past 10, since I usually like to really steep my rooibos.

Smells like mixed berry juice! It makes sort of a cold toned pinkish red. This taster very berry, but in a different and unconventional way. must be the elder berry and currant. I liked this one more then the blood orange one.

I might buy this when it comes out.

mmmmmm. berry berry. this is REAL Berry. like, straight up from the woods, which reminds me, i enjoyed this tea 2 Go in a travel mug as i walked the trails on a late summer evening. Wow, talk about one with nature…the tea i mean…cranberries, blackcurrants, almost like trying to describe a dark wine [which i don’t drink but i’m sure would taste similar] mysterious. intruiging. and delightful company in the bush [minus the bugs, lol]. i didn’t add anyting to this tea, but it is the kinda to sit and simmer sip on a long summer walk for sure.

Right away, the first thing I could think of after having sipped this tea was being six years old in poverty-stricken Russia, suffering from a nasty flu, and being forced to drink some strange raspberry-honey-pepper-medicine concoction from a thermos by my mother.

Now, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I took a trip down a certain memory lane that I thought I would never see again. The flavor is just about identical to what I drank all of those years ago, but far more tolerable. The raspberry flavors are overwhelming…I think the tea should be renamed to Raspberry Rooibos.

Not my cup of tea, but I appreciate the opportunity to try it nonetheless.

i wont give a rating for this tea… as im just so biased against the taste it might not be fair- didnt even finish the cup

very florally taste/smell – sweet smell/taste … i find it offensive, its like drinking poupouri… has a very thin/lemony quality to it… as another review said ‘tart’

… that being said its not overly artificial/fake tasting? maybe some people like floral teas, but its just so far from my preference i couldn’t even say if its good/bad.
