From Georgia Tea Company

In Sanskrit means “knowledge of life”. It is the art of holistic living and the oldest (5000 years old) medicine system in practice today. Ayurvedic philosophy also indicates that everything in the universe is made up of 5 elements; fire, air, water, earth and space. These elements are combined under 3 “energies”, known as ‘Doshas’ (body constitutions). The three doshas are Vata, Pitta and Kapha and represent the “subtle energy” that combines and balances the characteristics of the elements it influences. This force has to often combine and balance seemingly contrary forces such as fire and water under pitta. Vata combines air and space. While kapha brings water and earth together. The principle of balancing the body is done by first determining your Ayurvedic constitution or dosha type. when we recognize this, we can begin to create balance for ourselves in our health and lifestyle.

Calming & Slightly Warming.

Ingredients: Tulsi, saffron, fennel seeds, licorice root, star anise, orange peel, pepper mint, lemon grass and citrus flavor.

There really is a lot going on here with this herbal tisane. I could smell an herbally, licorice, lemon smell right away and that was prior to the steep. It grew strong as it infused. I could see most if not all of the ingredients. Afterwards I could smell and taste the Fennel, licorice, orange/lemon, peppermint, and anise. There was a natural spice to it and a little bit of an herbal taste or medicinal taste but then the peppermint and citrus flavors cut it well for me.

This ended up tasting better than I thought it would. I think I actually prefer it iced or cold than hot. I would have it again but not the first one I would pick off the shelf for myshelf, usually.

I haven’t even tasted this one, I can’t get over the awful smell! Then again I don’t like herbal teas like this. I don’t like licorice or fennel or anise..eww to all of them. Heh. I just got Shanti, it’s apart of the Ayruvedic line that I just got. Your the first person to try it since I’ve had it.

Daniel…the smell kind of scared me but the taste was different than the aroma lead me to believe…it was “OK”, actually…I would say the Licorice was the more IN YO FACE flavor tho…

Oh my — I hope that this isn’t one of the samples I received cuz quite a few of those ingredients evoke a gag reflex in me. Licorice ::shudders::

I guess I will ‘try’ to taste it. I’ve tasted all my other teas but this one and the OM. I’ve never liked licorice, that might be why I don’t like the smell too much.

I don’t think I sent this one to you Rabs. I usually don’t recommend it unless someone asks to taste it. The Ayruvedic teas have not been as popular as I thought they would and I probably will not reorder them.

im so glad to see i’m not the only one with licorice issues ;)

Daniel…have you ‘pushed’ them to the Yoga outlets specifically!? Or done any advertising in the Yoga Magazines, etc!?

So, I have this tisane… and it smells EXACTLY like the Arabic food grocery stores my dad took me to as a kid. That’s great for nostalgia but will all of these savory flavors and smells work as a hot beverage? I’m feeling brave tonight.

So it was explained to me that Ayurvedic tisanes are blended to produce results not for flavor. Armed with that information, it actually tastes better than I was expecting. It’s really not bad. I think this tea would be amazing blended with something vanilla and cinnamon. It is very effective, that’s for sure. I’m gonna drink this again and it’s gonna grow on me. I’ll probably restock when gone.
