Rooibos, which means Red Bush in Afrikaans, is only grown in South Africa and contains about 20 times more antioxidants than green tea. Caffeine free naturally.

Tea Sipper sent me a bunch of old herbals from the last round of the Here’s Hoping TTB. This is one of them. This is pretty decent. The rooibos is a little sour and a little smokey, and just a bit astringent. The smoke actually works well with the flavoring, so I like it here even though I don’t always enjoy smokey rooibos. The caramel flavoring doesn’t taste especially accurate – mostly a generic sweetness and a buttery aftertaste. I’ll probably use the rest of this for lattes and/or blending.

Before bed tea. This has a definite caramel flavor, and the rooibos isn’t all that detectable (a plus in my book). With some sugar and milk I think this would be a real treat but I don’t like to doctor my bedtime teas too much. This is the second rooibos blend form Georgia Tea Company that gets a thumbs up from me. I don’t see myself ordering this one, but the next time I’m shopping for herbals I’ll stop by GTC to see what other caffeine free goodies they’re offering.
