I love a spooky themed tea. Particularly a spooky themed tea with marshmallows and sprinkles.
This is nice, but not something I would particularly need to purchase again. Very much a berry cereal flavor. It actually tastes quite a bit like Brutalitea’s Assam A Go Go, but the puerh here is a bit more intense.

Just got my Happy Turtle Tea order. . . And because this one is an “IT” fandom blend, I had to try it. (I’m a big horror fan and Stephen King fan)

Being a flavored puerh, I was a bit worried about how this blend was going to come together. I haven’t really liked flavored puerhs so far. The added marshmallows and sprinkles added even a bit more worry but also added intrigue. So I went ahead and placed a small sample order to try a few blends.

This is truly a weird tea-puerh, strawberry & hazelnut flavoring, marshmallows, and sprinkles. The puerh is pretty muted and the sugar from the marshmallows and sprinkles is the star of the blend. I am picking up the strawberry which I do like and wish was a bit stronger. The sugary up front flavor is a bit much for me but I’m hoping the second infusion the spotlight will be more strawberry hazelnut puerh.

Can’t decide if I’m a fan or not. . .on the fence about this one. . .

Flavors: Strawberry, Sugar, Sweet

I’ve had pu-erh and strawberry together, which worked…but I’d think the hazelnut would make it wonky.

I need to find a solid strawberry puerh blend minus the marshmallows and sugar sprinkles. I love the look of the blend- but I think you are right, the hazelnut is throwing me.

Wish I could remember the genus and species of the strawberry pu-erh I tried…

Lupicia’s Chocolate & Strawberry Puer?

ashmanra

I also vote Lupicia’s Chocolate and Strawberry Puer!

Nichole/CuppaGeek

That one has been on my wishlist for a while, might be time to do a Lupicia’s order and properly use my Christmas tea money from my parents :)

Brutaliteas has a black/puerh blend with hazelnut, strawberry, and cocoa nibs that’s really tasty!

Nichole/CuppaGeek

@amandastory516 I’ve been seeing a lot about Brutaliteas too lately. By any chance do you remember what that blend was called? I’m not seeing it on the site but could totally be missing it.

Nichole: I found it on Steepster and it’s called Assam a Go-Go

amandastory516

Nichole- Sorry…Lexie is correct, it’s called Assam a Go-Go!

The sprinkles in this tea have a tendency to clump together in twos which makes them look like super cute mini macarons! The illustrations for each tea blend is a nice touch. It has a light scent to the dry tea, but not much. Steeped up I get the heavy flavor of puerh. It’s earthy muddy flavor dominates the sip and doesn’t leave room for anything else. Slowly in the finish some creamy strawberry creeps in and lingers. I’m having a hard time picking out any nuts. I’ve had flavored puerhs before. Lupicia’s strawberry chocolate is a favorite of mine. I feel like to have a flavored puerh you either need a really light and passive puerh or really strong additional flavors that can match and play off of the puerh. This is a strong puerh with weak additional flavors that are asking meekly if they can join the party. I want to see the creamy strawberry hazelnut in this tea at 11. As in loud.

I love the inspired nerdiness of Happy Turtle teas!

Dustin

It is pretty cute. The illustrations for each tea is pretty impressive. Only bummer is when I don’t understand the nerd part so it’s hard to get where the inspiration is coming from. For example, I’ve never seen It. I had to look up what floaties meant in relation to the movie and even then I only partly get it. Maybe I should steep another cup to sip while I watch the movie! I should do the same for Gremlins, which I have also not seen.

I am squealing! I read your note earlier but didn’t put it together that this is an IT fandom blend. I’ve seen a lot of buzz about Happy Turtle Tea lately.
